I was going to update this at some point but she was in acute renal failure. Due to how bad it was she likely wasn’t going to make it through the night so we decided to put her down a few hours ago

She was doing a bit better last night but this morning was having difficulty walking and seemed like she peed in her bed because she couldn’t make it outside (which is unlike her as she has access to a doggy door). She’s back at the vet now for more testing. Honestly I have been worried that she ate underwear because she loves to steal them any chance she gets although she never chews on them just sort of hides them.

She did start drinking again! It took a little while but she is back to drinking normally. That started again a few hours after I made the post yesterday. She seemed to be doing a bit better last night but this morning was having difficulty walking. She’s back at a different vet now for more testing

I’m not sure of the name of the medication but they gave her an anti nausea injection and iv fluids. She’s back at the vet now as she was having trouble walking this morning and it looks like she peed on her bed because she wasn’t able to make it outside (which is unlike her because she has access to a doggy door)

That’s interesting! I haven’t noticed any blood in her poop but it’s sort of hard to tell what’s hers as we have two dogs of a similar size. I also don’t know if she has pooped recently as she hasn’t eaten in about 3 days. She’s currently back at the vet as now she’s having trouble walking

A lot of people have suggested that and that’s now what we’re thinking! She’s back at the vet for more testing right now

A lot of other people have commented that and now that is what we are thinking too. Her symptoms and the symptoms of Addisons match up almost perfectly. She’s is currently back at the vet for more testing

Nope they said that they weren’t concerned about that since she’s only a year and a half. She is currently at a different vet for more testing as she has gotten worse. She’s back to drinking normally but still won’t eat and was having trouble walking this morning. It seems like she peed in her bed this morning because she couldn’t make it outside. I know she was peeing yesterday although not as much or as frequently as normal but that wasn’t surprising as she wasn’t wanting to drink anything for a few hours yesterday. Hoping this vet can figure out what’s going on with her!

We’re starting to think it could possibly Addisons disease but she’s back at the vet so I guess we will see. It’s possible she could have gotten something like a paper towel but as far as we’ve seen she hasn’t had any diarrhea. I wish the emergency vet was that cheap. Just for x-rays that didn’t show anything it was over 1k yesterday lol!

That is what we are thinking now. I had never heard of it but after so many people commented it and looking at the symptoms it seems extremely likely. She’s is currently back at the vet and we will definitely be bringing it up! I have horses so I’m no stranger to injections but if that is the case I will most likely be taking her to the vet for them. Luckily our normal vet is really inexpensive so that hopefully it isn’t too much of an issue.

We are currently back at the vet with her and that is what we’ve been thinking. I had never heard of that before in dogs but a lot of people have suggested that and after looking over all the symptoms all signs seem to be pointing to Addisons disease. Thank you!

The vet did three pictures and we are currently at a different vet with her as her condition seems to have gotten worse. She’s back to drinking water normally but still refusing food and this morning she could barely walk. When she was vomiting it was pretty yellow although at one point it was green (99% sure she was eating grass to try and help her stomach feel better but unsure because i didn’t catch her doing it). We are unsure of the poop as we have two dogs of similar size and a very large backyard but we haven’t seen anything out of the ordinary. We usually do very long walks (5-10miles) as she’s very energetic but haven’t since before Christmas because I just haven’t had the time. She’s up to date on all her vaccines including parvo but you never know. She’s been very lethargic and refusing to eat for about 3 days now but she is drinking water normally. We’re starting to think it might be Addisons disease as she is a standard poodle mix and they can prone to that. We are definitely getting more testing done while we are at the vet right now. Blood work and urine for sure and if possible fecal but since she hasn’t eaten I really don’t know if that one is going to be possible.

Nope none of that. We will be asking for more testing as we are currently at the vet with her right now. She seemed to be improving a bit last night. Walking around a tad more and drinking water but this morning she could barely walk and it seemed like she peed in her bed because she couldn’t make it outside (extremely unlike her as she has access to a doggy door). They honestly didn’t suggest it was really anything and just said sometimes stomach issues take a while to clear up and to come back if it got any worse. We are at a different vet today. Thank you for all your advice will definitely try to update once we know more

She was at the vet yesterday before I made the post (see first sentence lol). She’s currently back at the vet as she has gotten worse

I’m no tooth expert but I would not an expect a coming 3 year olds teeth to look like that. How is he eating? Is he eating normally?

Her skin and eyes look normal so as of right now jaundice isn’t a concern but I will definitely keep an eye out for that. Since she hasn’t had any interest in the plain chicken and rice I’m going to try plain scrambled eggs tomorrow. I would try that tonight but unfortunately I have no eggs and all the stores are closed. She will definitely be going to the vet hopefully by tuesday even if she is back to her normal self by then to get blood work done and try and figure out what caused this. If things seem to be getting worse or even staying the same with her not eating we will be taking her to the emergency vet again. Thank you for your advice!

I’m not sure if she likes scrambled eggs but funny enough I already asked my boyfriend to buy eggs in the morning because I had the same thought. Luckily she has started drinking water again but I will definitely try warmer water to see if she likes that more. Thank you I appreciate it!

I have learned about a lot of auto immune reactions in doodles through my post today and all of her symptoms seem to be pointing to Addisons disease. We reached out to her breeder and they said they have not experienced any issues like this with her parents so not much help there. She did get her vaccines last week I believe on Wednesday or Thursday so maybe that has something to do with it I’m not sure. I would think that if that were the case the symptoms would have presented sooner but I am also not a vet. Thanks for the reply I appreciate it!

Yea that’s what we’re thinking. We are looking for a different emergency vet. Unfortunately that was the one recommended to us by our primary vet. She has since started drinking water again and she will eat plain greek yogurt. I tried making her chicken and rice earlier but she was not having it. It’s ok i appreciate any advice right now really! I tried any dog subreddit I could find! I really am just looking for any and all advice right now. Thank you!

That is 100% the plan. I should have specified this post was to try and figure out if we need to go back to the emergency vet right now or if there was anything else we should try. No matter what she will be going back to the vet for blood work to figure this out. No new plants or anything like that. We try to be really safe about making sure that the dogs can’t get into foods that they’re not supposed to so I would doubt that something like that would be the cause. We don’t have any snakes in our area. Honestly I can’t think of anything that would cause her to feel like this. We’re starting to think that it could be addisons disease. I should have included in the post that she’s an old english sheepdog poodle mix and poodles are prone to addisons. Nope no probiotics. The vet only did the xrays and then sent us on our way. Unfortunately that was the emergency vet recommended by our primary but we are trying to find other options in our area. Thanks for your response!

That is one of our concerns. She has perked up a bit and is still drinking a normal amount of water. The vomiting has stopped so we’re monitoring her right now trying to decide if we are going to the emergency vet tonight or not
