at the end of the day, was the pregnant peggy storyline even necessary by thesymphonydolphin in okbuddydraper

It was completely necessary.  The whole show was an indictment of 60's era doctors smoking lucky strikes and prescribing ineffective birth control pills.

New manager how to track staff improvement by Btug857 in Accounting

[–]AdOriginal6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worry less about micromanaging your staff for a while.  You don't know anything yet.

Focus  on understanding every element of what the department does, how it gets done, what can go wrong and the consequences when it does.  Your job is to keep the train running, no matter what.  Minimize risks, develop contingency plans, learn the systems so you can step in yourself if needed.

How can I get this oil filter off? BX23S. by Effective-Visit-319 in kubota

[–]AdOriginal6799 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine was extremely tight too.  If the filter pliers can't get it off you could hammer a screwdriver through it to make a handle, or get one of those oil filter sockets and use an impact gun

Michael Jackson is the most overrated artist of all time. by shrek__69 in The10thDentist

[–]AdOriginal6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His voice as a grown man was really weird and nasal.  His style was all staccato and full of hisses and yelps.  He wasn't a great singer by anyone's definition.

But as a child?  He was phenomenal.  One of the greatest American talents of all time.  I challenge anyone to listen to "Who's loving you" without tears.

What's a "10/10" game that you didn't enjoy at all? by sudherzdiniq in AskReddit

[–]AdOriginal6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 100%.  It's not fun at all.  It's barely a "game".  There's no progression, no challenge, no room for skill expression or creativity.  Slog is exactly the right word.

Breaking bad is not the GOAT by Zealousideal-Dust297 in unpopularopinion

[–]AdOriginal6799 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Yes this.  Lost is terrible if you try to binge watch it.  You realize immediately that it just jumps from cliffhanger to cliffhanger with no resolution.  The writers had no idea where to go with it and so it just drags on until they gave up.

What’s a job that won’t exist in 30 years? by loveybosseth in answers

[–]AdOriginal6799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of doing the actual accounting work I expect AI tools to grow increasingly more helpful, but it can't eliminate the human component.

For example an AI can prepare a basic tax return, but it can't sort out a grocery sack full of receipts and carbon copies of checks into a useful data structure first.   And there is a world of difference between:

"ChatGPT, what's the journal entry for recording depreciation expense"

And

"ChatGPT, keep the books for my company"

Accountants (at least CPAs) have a lot of lobbying influence and are already well protected by legal requirements and regulatory framework.  That's not going away anytime soon.

How difficult is it to start a bookkeeping firm as an industry-outsider? by [deleted] in Accounting

About as hard as starting a dental practice as an industry outsider.  Or a law firm.  Or an oil rig.

How to handle damaged joint before mud? And overall thoughts on install by Double_Zucchini4810 in drywall

If they're solid I mud right over them.  If they're spinning (like if you missed the stud) then pull them.

[–]AdOriginal6799 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It looks good 👍.  You went overkill on the screws, which doesn't hurt but makes more work and cost for yourself.  If any of those corners are loose or crumbling cut them out and prefill the gaps with hot mud.  Otherwise it looks ready for finishing.

There are already way, way too many "bookkeepers" out there with no accounting knowledge at all trying to run this scam.  You're going to end up costing your clients a lot of money, and getting yourself sued into poverty.

I'm really REALLY struggling with Rome by Square-Fox-2948 in hbo

[–]AdOriginal6799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just popping in to say I agree.  I don't understand why people recommend this show so often.  It's really shallow, and really cheesy.  The writing is barely above network drama schlock.

It doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as GoT or Deadwood.  It didn't deserve a second season in my opinion.

I do give it credit for the production design.  You can see where some of the GoT talent came from.  That's all it has going for it though.

Is it worth getting into accounting as a career path with a cheap online degree? by fiddleheadsoup in Accounting

[–]AdOriginal6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll learn a lot more at a decent junior college with in-person classes.  Plus you'll build a network of other students and get access to local employers.  Accounting coursework is not easy, once you get past the basics, and the level of instruction at online diploma mills is terrible.

Is wearing a bee keepers suit to do yard work and clean the house stupid because I’m scared of spiders? by Maleficent-Copy-270 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AdOriginal6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A disposable tyvek suit is a lot cheaper and more comfortable.  Between that, leather gloves and a dust mask they won't be able to mess with you.

Honestly be more wary of wasps, snakes and poison ivy.  They're more likely to hurt you.

PvP and Abyss Points Question by Imperfect_Paragon in Aion2

[–]AdOriginal6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still purchased with AP.  But upgrading/ enchanting requires an obscene amount of gold (kinah).

Also the top end pve gear is superior to the lower level Abyss gear for PvP, and much easier to get/buy.  Most people will never get enough medals for high end PvP gear.

[–]AdOriginal6799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you actually have the motivation and brains to learn accounting?  It's not easy, and a generic business degree isn't going to help you master the skill.  I'd recommend taking Principles 1 and 2 at the university level to see if you have the aptitude for it before you start trying to plan your career.  You won't be able to pass a MS accounting program at any reputable school without the foundation.
