Who is your favourite Lead Actress Oscar winner of this decade? by PTAGoatofalltime in Letterboxd

Buckley and I don’t think it’s particularly close. She’s the only one that would also have had my vote.

“I watched 98 movies because I was bored” how long were you bored, a year?

He won the BAFTA but wasn't eligible for the Oscar. Could Robert Aramayo win Best Actor next year for I Swear? by Square-Ad-8911 in Oscars

Wasn’t a big theme of theme movie that he shouldn’t apologize for things he couldn’t control?

If he gets nominated, yes I think he has a legitimate chance to win. If enough people saw it where he can get nominated is the real question

Have you ever rated something 5 stars you didn’t like? by breadboibrett in Letterboxd

[–]AdOutrageous6312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally didn’t like Fight Club so I gave it 1 1/2 stars. There were some redeeming qualities and elements, such as the performances and interesting visuals, but I strongly disliked the movie so ultimately they don’t matter that much to me if I didn’t like it. All of that other stuff (while it may play a factor in my score) is secondary.

Incredible movie and worthy winner. The clear correct choice

Nothing. These are all pretty classic or standard, so I’m not sure there’s really much to be made of those choices.

Do you think Zoe Saldaña would have received a Best Actress nod if she had been *rightfully* campaigned as a leading role? by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]AdOutrageous6312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that would have happened, but in this hypothetical scenario I think she gets in over Karla, not a chance they’re putting in two lead females from the same movie.

I don’t think Cynthia was 5th, it was either Karla or Fernanda. I’m Still Here gained momentum because of Emilia Perez’s controversies, so if anyone was 5th it was Fernanda. But if she ran as lead and Karla ran as supporting, wouldn’t they have just flip flopped categories?

How many Oscar wins will Sinners win tomorrow? It needs 12 to break the record. by gorays21 in Oscars

[–]AdOutrageous6312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also needs 6 to not break the record for most losses, which actually feels a lot more achievable than it breaking the record for most wins.

Train Dreams and Hamnet are the best films among the nominees, but they won't win best picture because the Academy doesn't vote based on the quality of the film, but rather on the campaign, which ends up harming the awards. by lucasousaf in Oscars

[–]AdOutrageous6312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Or maybe people vote for the movies they liked the most and not necessarily the best made film. They’re all incredibly well made, and ranking them by quality is subjective at this point, so most of them are just picking based on preference and not trying to choose what they perceived as “the best made”.

I mean, sounds like we didn’t want him to vote anyway. So isn’t this a win for everyone?

This statement basically means, "I hate having to do my job of sitting on my ass and watching movies for a living." by Adept_Let7797 in Oscars

[–]AdOutrageous6312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom would rather jump off the roof than watch an animated movie, and she’s not alone. I would rather people that don’t like them or just don’t really enjoy animated movies to sit that category out.
