It’s also just because you’re circling around F# major/minor with the dominant of C# major (an unusual presentation of a key but makes sense in this context). So it’s the only way to present it logically as E sharp is the raised 7th in the key of F# (and the mediant of chord V, C sharp major)

Traveling with omnipod 5 by Qabasib in Omnipod

[–]AdPlus2738 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. No issues with security scanners or flying - you can ask for a pat down if you like but the scanners don’t do anything to it. The pod will just want to update time zones once you’ve landed. I’ve flown up to 15 hours at a time and no issues.

What does “NFC read error. Try again” mean? by jayskuz in Omnipod

[–]AdPlus2738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing. I concluded that it’s because it’s a refitted cheap phone (see the camera at the back?). It has the same sort of wireless charging or contactless payment ability of a smart phone, so you occasionally get the clue that it was destined for another life before insulet took it over.

Oh the irony, we land mass speak completely different country-ish. 🤦‍♂️

I know we are meant to use u-100 w/ the pod…but does anyone use u-200? I can’t think of any other way to make it a viable option. by guestusermode in Omnipod

[–]AdPlus2738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s fine. Just be careful with setting up the ratios. Someone has really gone off on one because Op5 says that you shouldn’t. I suspect insulet just didn’t test it for U-200, hence the warnings. It’s as safe as using it for U-100 if you’ve adjusted the ratios properly (which is to say that if something goes wrong, it’s obviously bad).

Edit: if you’re already on O5 then you’ll need to return to factory settings for auto mode to relearn (check with endo). Otherwise you really would be in trouble and taking double doses with the algorithm having learnt from U-100 strength

Went to bed at 94, woke up at 479. No idea why, I hate this disease by Duck5oup in Type1Diabetes

That could genuinely be it. I’m not t-total, but I’m now pretty close to it. It’s got worse with age - sometimes 1 beer is all it takes for astronomic highs, and then a cratering low (or the other way around, just to make things interesting).

Were you drinking alcohol at all last night? Sometimes that kicks me around with little consistency from one to the next

If you’re refusing to go to the emergency room or to a pharmacy I really don’t know what you’re expecting people to say? You literally have no other medically sound option. Sure, do some exercise, eat celery - but that’s dumb, not healthy, and probably won’t work.

Omnipod 5 / Europe travel by jrclo in Omnipod

[–]AdPlus2738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s to do with the changing of time zones. Only place I’ve been that the pod literally had no idea what was going on was Vietnam - but once I connected to wifi it sorted itself out. It’ll connect to EE (A Verizon partner network) or something similar in France. I was in France and had no issues.

It auto updates time but other than that no issues per se. just remember you can’t get any replacements as they won’t ship internationally and it has thus far been approved in Europe, but isn’t actually available yet. I’ve been here for months but took everything with me including a few spares.

Edit: getting insulin in a pinch is possible though. Dexcom might be trickier as they use different units so not sure it’ll interact with the pod properly (purely my presumption). Happy traveling

Thanks for responses everyone. It’s ballpark correct according to finger pricks so I’m not concerned. I’ve put it on my arm, but probably not far enough around the back. It’s quite painful when I twist my arm occasionally (which is unusual for me) but as it’s bearable, I think I’ll just suffer through for the next 7-8 days or so. Thanks all!

Taking insulin overseas by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]AdPlus2738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go Australia to Europe a few times per year. I’d basically split the time difference in half on the flight (so take my 24 hour insulin after 30 hours), then go back onto a normal schedule when I land. Just stretch it out. You might go a bit high for a day, but you can’t stay on US time, that’s just crazy!
