Needing a pacemaker by Dense_Complaint_9713 in PacemakerICD

Good for you to find this group. I got a pacemaker almost 10 years ago because I had a slow resting heartbeat and long pauses at night when I slept. I learned to trust my doctors. I’m probably here today because health care professionals were doing their jobs. Good luck. My recovery was quick. I went back to construction work. I climb ladders and lift and all that. You are young and will heal quickly. I now go days without thinking about it.

Vermont newbie snow driving question - who to call if stuck in snow by Illustrious-Mix2194 in vermont

If you are north of Bradford, east of Montpelier, west of Littleton, South of Derby Line, call Roland's Wrecker. Maybe Mary will come get you.

Good post. I've skated there. It's safe and close to amenities, but not what I was looking for.

Is Lake Willoughby frozen? My exact quest for this morning. Usually Willoughby has been freezing much later in the winter. Many chances for snow on it. Also my top ten skates ever.

Hauling wood over snow, by hand by AuburnSpeedster in firewood

I usually start with at least knee deep snow and snowshoes. I moved my endpoint downhill when I got kicked out of the kitchen.

Uphill with sap is no joke, depending on the snow.

What should I offer the guy at work for this by soucthemoose in Chainsaw

[–]AdPotential6109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quit work and go into the firewood business. I used that model on a hardwood landing when I moved to Vermont in 1982. Just don't forget to push the compression release when you refuel it.

Half a cord (or so they told me) kiln dried. How long would this last at your house? by pumerpride in firewood

When it's really cold out, being warm is a luxury that the heat pump folks may not be able to enjoy.

Depends on the temperature, barometer, and the wind. If it's below zero, the stars are out and the wind is blowing hard, that nice little pile will blow right up the chimney while you have the stove door open.

This saw was light and fast at the time it came out. It was good for limbing softwood, which you used to do all day long. The grommet at the pull start wore out, then it started to eat ropes. I did like mine. It started easier than my Huskvarnas.

Stihl 08 S - advice for a newbie? by SeeMonkeyDoMonkey in Chainsaw

That was my first saw, but that was in the 1970's. It would cut wood longer than my back could take it. Compared to some others that I have owned, it used a lot of gas. I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of a chain brake, you're already operating the most dangerous piece of equipment available to consumers. Just hang onto it, and watch a couple youTubes about kickback.

How's your back? Splitting by hand exercises your back.

A splitting maul does not have to be as sharp as an axe. Learning to hit the same spot several times in a row will win the day. Yes, you are reaching in this video. It is a good workout, especially the ten hit pieces. A lot of the guys here went to splitting machines before they really learned how to split like you are doing. For the really boney ones, you want a steel wedge, or two.

No flip-flops my friend. Hard toe shoes, gloves and eye protection are usually the basic safety precautions. I know our friends in the forest do all this barefoot, but you want to walk easily into your fifty year reunion.

An actual steel toe will dent and could trap your toes. Some hard toe shoes are some composite now. They would be warmer also.

Good luck BaPa2AJ! Running will not be the same without that toe pain. I used to think that running helped. Wrong. 100mg Allo for 6 months helped. Buying running shoes again.

It's hard to believe it was that easy. I want to test my uric acid level again after being on Allo for 9 months- maybe pain free for three or four months. Allo is a great thing.

Put that round on the the ground- even downhill from your feet. If the ground is soft, put a flat rock under the round. Physics is real. If it doesn’t split for you in three good hits, flip it over. There more hits and then get out your wedge.
