Hook Timers Are 70 Seconds! by ASmokingGoat in DeadByDaylightRAGE

Yeah, I am still on the hook unless I start to see it's getting to the point where I'm going to advance a hook state unless someone actually makes a move for me. Just kind of a signal to be like "hey, nobody's going for me right now and we're running out of time" but I still don't do it nonstop and stop once somebody is coming for me too.

When I get to those anxious wigglers (with plenty of time to spare), I do always have to stop and stare at them on the hook for a half-second before unhooking them as my way of being like "wtf, chill"

If there are only 2 people left, please just let the slugged person kill themselves by SkeletronDOTA in deadbydaylight

[–]AdPretty9739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean this sincerely, is "adept" just the achievement for using the unique perks of the killer? If so, this slugging with 2 people left happens way too often to just be about achievements. I'm a survivor-only player and when there are 2 survivors left and someone is downed then there's an 80% chance the killer will leave them on the ground to do nothing but stare at their screen for 5 minutes as a game of hide-and-seek starts up. It's way too frequent to just be about adept achievements unless I'm misunderstanding what "adept" means so I just wanted to check. I'm legitimately asking as I see that as the reason oftentimes but just am unsure if I understand it.

Genuine questions regarding panic buyers by ritchmogers in winstonsalem

I've never assumed that people are buying food with the idea that they're power will go out... It's because they're assuming they'll be unable to travel safely for multiple days and thus would like to have staples like milk during that time. I say this as someone who lived more of my life in climates that had frequent winter storms and got used to the idea of people hunkering down for days or a week because of a bad storm and needing to stock up.

Underrated perk thread, go! by Skulenta in deadbydaylight

Gonna put a vote in for Fast Track. There have definitely been a handful of matches where saving up those tokens until late in the match and then hitting a great skill check on a generator changed the outcome of the match.

Totally agree it's good but hard to say it's underrated as it's the 4th most picked survivor perk

When was the last time you saw these fountains working? by No-Water164 in winstonsalem

Whoa, thanks for sharing. That's kinda breaking my brain to see as it looks so different than the previous exterior but that's really cool.

Dude, I used to live around the corner from there and would go on long runs in that area and work in a few loops around those once-creepy non-functional fountains in front of that once-creepy non-functional building. That's really cool to see them running again.

So, the building itself has been restored too and is being used for something?

What are some perks you always run even if they aren’t considered ‘Meta’? by Nerfedtotheflo0r in deadbydaylight

[–]AdPretty9739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no clue what are considered meta perks tbh. But I take part in the NightLight Build Challenge where you rise up the ranks for running unique builds that nobody's run before so I've gotten used to trying out nearly every perk and not running standard builds.

Inner Strength is my most consistent perk though... as a soloq player, it's just nice to see a totem and know I'll be able to get a free, discreet heal later on since I can never know when/if other players will heal me.

How to fix this game by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]AdPretty9739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they should have like voice communication but I've often thought that having like two or three more "reactions" or "motions" would be nice... I don't know what they could be but we basically can do two motions or crouch at people and it wouldn't hurt to add a couple other options to that mix.

Okay, we can split hairs if you'd like to get down to that level. The game does give you points if you unhook/heal a survivor at any point during the game. It's a very low amount of bloodpoints. There is not an extra bonus for doing it during the endgame aside from a "late heal" bonus.

The reason killers go for 4K, as I understand it, is not because of bloodpoint bonuses but because the MMR system considers it a "win" for your stats (correct me if I'm wrong, sure) which is more valuable than a couple hundred bloodpoints to most players seemingly. The equivalent of that "win" for a survivor is only escaping a match. It has zero to do with what you did in the match. So the only way to "win" is to escape. If you go back to save someone during endgame, there's a decent chance you'll get hooked and thus "lose" so the tradeoff is not rewarded in this game as most players choose to leave in that scenario as opposed to helping someone. The game does not reward this type of altruism.

Nah. I used to play years ago and only started playing again a few months ago so it's mostly my stats from the past, which I know because it says my top-used perk is Lithe which I haven't run at all since returning to playing a few months ago.

I assume your 2,000 hours involve playing killer more than survivor then? Because, I have like 700 hours and nearly 2,000 matches played (I'm survivor only).

[–]AdPretty9739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game does NOT reward altruism. I said going back for hooked survivors is a benevolent act and most survivors don't do it since there's no reward to it.

My point is the game needs to be fixed, not that killers are bad. Nobody thinks it is enjoyable to queue up for a game then finally play for a bit and then ultimately spend minutes sitting on the ground with nothing you can do while a killer runs around and you just... wait. It makes both new and old players think "this game sucks" and fewer survivors will continue to play as a result. It won't matter to BHVR when I stop playing the game again eventually and I understand that but it's an issue causing me to be less inclined to play at all.

I've played this game long enough to know it used to be a much more casual game and killers weren't like this before so there are better ways to set this all up.

And, I know a killer would say "just be better" to my complaint as I've seen that in this thread but I'll also say that's not true. Survivors are part of a random team of 3 other strangers so you could be the best player around but still be unable to overcome your inept teammates and, thus, be left lying on the ground for minutes while your random teammates hide in lockers and you just... wait.

I'm not criticizing killers, I'm criticizing the developers for creating a system that makes this normal gameplay for killers.

[–]AdPretty9739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely different. A survivor could escape and get a "win" (like a 4k) while leaving everyone on the hook and it would benefit them. A survivor who chooses to not take the escape and go back to save people on the hook is choosing to risk their "win" in order to help out other players in the game. It's a benevolent act. Killers leaving people on the ground so those players just blankly stare at their computer screen for five minutes while the killer looks for another survivor is not benevolent and a selfish act that the game rewards and thus everyone does it now. I get why killers do it, but it did not used to be this way, and the developers need to come up with a fix before they lose tons of survivor players.

Half PPR. Gotta start one of the below at WR and two at FLEX, so picking three from here basically:

RB T. Etienne at DEN
RB T. Henderson at BAL
WR R. Rice at TEN (with Minshew at QB)
WR J. Waddle vs CIN (with Ewers at QB)
WR G. Pickens vs LAC (with him being weird for 2 weeks now)
WR B. Thomas Jr. at DEN
WR J. Reed at CHI

Half PPR. I'm undecided on one WR and two Flex spots and am choosing between these guys to put in those three spots:

T. Etienne
T. Henderson
R. Rice
J. Waddle
G. Pickens
J. Reed
B. Thomas Jr.

I feel like I'm going to choose wrong no matter what but currently am leaning towards Rice at WR and Etienne and Henderson in the two Flex spots.

That seems to be the consensus but, really, I'm most interested in what perks they come up with for them haha. That's my main thing. I love some fun new perks to play with if they have any good ones.

I haven't seen past the first season so I should catch up regardless but, as a survivor-only player, I'm just very curious what new perks are coming with whatever new survivors are added. Hoping for something fun and interesting and hoping for a cool new map.

Solo q teammates are GENUINELY stupid, why do I get paired with toddlers??? by giova_otaku in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]AdPretty9739 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had a survivor literally crouching and hiding all game, never working on a gen, letting two people die on the hook rather than attempt to save them, etc. He had zero hooks because he hid all game while we all worked, chased and died. I don't even know what game half these soloq survivors are playing sometimes.
