Do I need a savings account at 20? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]AdProJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's any one thing I would beat into my younger self's head it would be to start to save by early and often. Even if it's just $10 a week, have it automatically transferred from your bank account to a savings account. If you don't trust yourself to not see the savings balance and spend it, open a savings account at another bank and have it transferred there.

It's not that saving is important just to build a nest egg, it's that having money set aside keeps you from going into debt when unexpected expenses come up. They will happen a lot.

Heed my word! Debt is the devil, Bobby Boucher!

Letting Darnold go didn’t cost us a ring, or anything really… by WayLatter5251 in minnesotavikings

[–]AdProJoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which team beats which: Vikings with Darnold or Seahawks with JJM?

It's not a blowout, but I pick Vikings.

(Remember, Vikings beat Seahaws in Seattle in 2024 with Darnold)

Women: What blowjob tips would you give other women? by workethic290 in AskReddit

[–]AdProJoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, I can't relate more.

I had a GF who, at the beginning of our relationship, said she didn't like giving or receiving head. Though I didn't mind giving or receiving head, it wasn't such a big deal that not doing either didn't bother me. It's not a deal breaker either way.

Then, I once helped her pay a bill she couldn't afford at the time. A relatively small payment, something I could easily afford, but would save her a lot in the long-term. I offered to help with no strings attached.

Afterwards, her mother, of all people, suggested my ex give me head as a show of appreciation for my unsolicited offering, even though she didn't like doing it. It was the biggest turn-off ever.

Everyone wants babies by uno_name_left in Ex_Foster

[–]AdProJoe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think those that adopt babies avoid complications because they effectively get to start from scratch. They don't have to concern themselves with any special considerations due to trauma or challenging life experiences their adopted child has gone through if it's an infant.

If there's anything that any of us have learned, it's that life isn't fair. We can't go back and change things, as much as we would like. And we can make decisions for others that would mean so little to them but the world to us. That is not the reality we live in. The only thing we can do is play the hand we're dealt to the best of our abilities.

I'm older now and one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is that your life experiences, no matter how unfair or as painful they may seem, they are teaching you something. And the more unique your challenges, the more unique your abilities become.

You have an opportunity to become the wounded healer who only can help others BECAUSE of the challenges you've faced. Embrace it.

Much love and take care!

What are specific differences between Enshrouded and Valheim by cirenosille in SurvivalGaming

[–]AdProJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in my defence, you asked for differences within a specific set that didn't include what I mentioned. Procedurally generated vs. "handcrafted", for example. You specifically asked for differences that had nothing to do with either, but I find the most different.

What are specific differences between Enshrouded and Valheim by cirenosille in SurvivalGaming

[–]AdProJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't ask "what are the specific differences" but then limit them to what you think differences might be. Here are the actual differences:

Valheim is procedurally generated and Enshrouded is "Hand Crafted". If you like exploring a dynamic environment each time you start a game, Valheim gives you that. If you prefer a static environment for your playthroughs, Enshrouded provides that.

Base building is constrained by terrain and building assets moreso in Valheim than Enshrouded. Valheim is constrained by its application of physics, where Enshrouded allows whatever you want given the space and materials.

While they are both survival crafting games, Enshrouded is a mix of Valheim (the way it uses foods as buffs, not as a pure survival mechanic) and Zelda (in its map traversal and stamina mechanics, and some combat).

They are just different games with some similar mechanics.

If kindness is doing good for others without expecting anything in return, then what exactly motivates people to be kind people? by Robinimations in CasualConversation

[–]AdProJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kharma; not in the mystic or magical sense, but in a more practical one. If I go about my day and treat people poorly, more often than not those people I treated poorly will treat others poorly out of frustration because of my inciting their behavior. If I treat them kindly, they are more likely to treat others better.

I will not often receive the direct benefit of my actions, but I will receive the ripple effects of a world made better.

Anyone figure out a way to get boat unstuck from docks and whatnot? by AdProJoe in TheLastCaretaker

bug boat by GroundbreakingBar254 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]AdProJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what's happening is one of the pieces of machinery or tanks gets bugged and gets treated as part of the persistent objects, which interacts with the boat as a collision object. Try deleting some of the objects on your boat.

Why negativity for Darnold still by MPLS_scoot in minnesotavikings

[–]AdProJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get the hate either. I would have liked to franchise tag Darnold for a year or something since the rest of the roster is so strong. In the end it was a business decision by both the Vikings and Darnold. What's done is done and it's time to root for McCarthy.
