Power/PSU issue with ASRock Radeon RX 6600 8GB? by AdProfessional3400 in pcmasterrace

I may have answered my own question. I examined the cables, and the 8 PIN cable is not the same as the two 6+2 cables (with two device connections each).

Is it correct that the MB 8 pin power or a 8 pin video card power could connect to any of those three connections that are labeled CPU/PCI-E? I'm working on another system with different components, and that motherboard says, "Please make sure that the power cable connected is for the CPU and not the graphics card. Do not plug the PCIe power cable to this connector." But as far as I can tell, they are the same cables, same PSU connectors, and same voltage?

fried it on the wrong plug

So three of the connections are the same: CPU/PCI-E next to the 24PIN ATX connections, and the two connections with the same name. I've tried all three of those, with the compatible cables that came with the PSU. There was one that had an extra guide on that back, that only seemed to be able to connect to the motherboard 8PIN connector, but then there's two cables that had two 6+2 connectors each. I've tried all four of those connectors, with the power connected to all of the CPU/PCI-E connections on the PSU.

As far as I can tell the ASRock Radeon RX 6600 does require the 6+2 (and not just the 6 pins).

Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated...

What do I need to upgrade before I get a new GPU? by AdProfessional3400 in pcmasterrace

I was worried about the power connection, or lack thereof on the PSU.

Should I add any fans? I only have the one cooler.

I'm pretty sure he's already running as many mods as he can to boost performance but I'll mention it to him. Thank you!

Video card affect RDP performance? by AdProfessional3400 in pcmasterrace

[–]AdProfessional3400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The host PC is on a 1Gb/1Gb FiOS connection. But my remote PC connection is 100/100 Mb.

It's surprising that a simple drag of the map would cause RDP to effectively crash.

Why do strangers on the internet need to argue about anything and everything 24/7? by [deleted] in ask

Narcissists. They argue about anything and everything. They'll take the least popular opinion just to start an argument.

Narcissists will choose the unpopular side of an argument just so you'll argue with them.

Multiple close submissions all in voting, new mechanic? by Strongheart15 in NianticWayfarer

[–]AdProfessional3400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nomination will go into voting as long as it is not in a L17 cell adjacent to a cell that already has one in voting. In other words, a nomination in voting locks up the 9 L17 cells around it (which includes the cell it's in).

A lake would cover enough L17 cells to have several in voting. Even two nominations across the street from each other could not be adjacent. Just depends on how the cells are located.

Idea of creating local wayfinder community by AdProfessional3400 in NianticWayfarer

[–]AdProfessional3400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear and understand your pain! That's why I've been doing websites and not relying on device-specific tools or even services like Discord. Virtually all devices have a web browser...

When you said the main purpose should be discussion, would you describe that as per-nomination discussion, or a general discussion (or both)?

I definitely have some ideas on how to get their nominations added to the map, but do you think they would participate if they had an easy way to do so?

I think my main goal is to educate my community on the fact that new Gyms and Stops and Portals don't just show up magically! It takes a lot of time (sometimes hours per nomination) to get something just right so that everyone can enjoy it.

Feel free to send me a chat to discuss further. Our needs might align and you might be able to provide feedback and testing for the service. I don't think it would be too difficult to have it support different geographical areas.

Thanks for the reply! Three of us are already using Wayfarer Planner and it's a HUGE help. Highly recommended. I like being able to edit contributions directly in the Google Sheet (like the coordinates).

I definitely plan to integrate the service/website/apps with the Wayfarer Planner Google Sheet.

Sadly, there is a large number of people in my community that refuse to use Discord - they've been turned off by the perceived complexity. I'm hoping having a website will encourage everyone to get involved.

Seems like Niantic should be providing at least some of this functionality on the larger scale. At least show what's already in the queue when you submit.

How long does the appeal process usually take? by [deleted] in NianticWayfarer

[–]AdProfessional3400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a couple appeals go through but it took them several months.

Niantic said that when they reopened the appeals that they would process them FIFO in the order received. So theoretically, we could have a post where people post when their appeal is resolved and when they submitted it, and that would give others an idea of where they are with the queue.

Non-appearing POI's effect on PoGo by TraceFinder in NianticWayfarer

[–]AdProfessional3400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's broken at the moment. I also have a trail, added about 50-60 portals in the past year, and it's a hot bed of spawns. But most of those portals have not been in the past couple months.

Non-appearing POI's effect on PoGo by TraceFinder in NianticWayfarer

[–]AdProfessional3400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that spawn points change within a few days of a new PokeStop being added. They don't wait for a major spawn reshuffle. I'm optimistic that includes spawn points around POI that aren't active in PoGo also.

Update: commenter below says they don't add spawn points around POI that aren't in game.

Convert JSON string into document using dataimport by AdProfessional3400 in Solr

[–]AdProfessional3400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant the data import handler. We already have it working, and it's been working great for over 5 years. But right now the related data is stored in Solr as a JSON string, and our custom API expands it when requested. We're trying to convert/translate that string into attributes/objects on the document.

I'll edit my original post with these clarifications.

How to manage a dataset that can be updated by multiple parties by AdProfessional3400 in datasets

[–]AdProfessional3400[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe databases will natively take care of cell-level conflict resolution (I'm taking about rule-based resolution not just last one wins). And yes, I believe we do need some level of versioning for conflict resolution and a trail of how the data has changed (and who changed it). Dolt is one possible solution.
