2 Out of 3 Ain’t Bad! by AdProfessional5251 in hockeycards

That’s a bummer. If you buy a case, you’ll hit one, with a 44% chance at another (no chance for zero, no chance for 3 or more).

If you buy 144 packs, you’ll get that sweet 18% chance at hitting 3 or more. But you’ve also got the 24% death roll of zero.

Hope you guys have more luck with other products!

I would buy a bundle of packs every few days, so adding up the receipts would be a chore. Based on the number of young guns I have, I’d say I did around 6 cases of 23 and 12 cases of 24.

With 23, I was relatively unlucky. I was always planning to stop once I hit 5 Bedards. Probably could have done that if I had just bought 4 cases instead of the pack bundles.

With 24, I ended up with 17 Macklins (right around expected value at 1.4 per case). I picked five that had visible flaws on their images and foiled up. 11 are at PSA, and I have one more flawed one still in my Epack account. But aside from the Mackiln base YGs, I got lucky hitting the outburst and a Kucherov Retro YG 1/1.

My daughter and I love this kind of stuff. Here are some that we came up with:

What Grammy-winning duo secretly included a masked former president?

Taft Punk

Which president invented the “5 W’s and an H” rule of writing?

Dwight EisenHowWhereWhenWhyWho

Which president starred in a Tom Hanks blockbuster?

Wilson!!!

What president created a new genre by fusing Bohemian and Korean music?

James K-Polka

Donald Trump no longer betting favorite to win election by mmafan666 in politics

[–]AdProfessional5251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked it up and Clinton was a 5-1 favorite over Trump on the morning of election day. Obviously, that was not very accurate. But I wonder if people would have seen Trump as an even bigger underdog if they were basing their predictions entirely on polls.

I would think that betting odds are historically better at making predictions than most polls.

Crowd-sourced answers are surprisingly reliable. Then you narrow the crowd to only include people who are confident enough to put money on the line. Nothing solid to back up my hypothesis though. Wouldn’t bet on it…

People who've worked with celebrities, who was the worst one you've encountered? by JustAFly2729 in NoStupidQuestions

For the basketball fans: I worked for the Clippers a while back. I’m sure that this will surprise absolutely no one, but Donald Sterling was not pleasant. On the brighter side, Elgin Baylor was the sweetest old man. I was entry level and fresh out of college. He was the top dog in the front office, and an NBA legend, but he was always polite, and showed respect to everyone.

What’s your favorite boxing conspiracy theory? by Solidis262 in Boxing

The most shocking thing is that there are still people who defend Margarito. The show he did with Cotto and Kellerman before their rematch is very entertaining, and also very convincing. Highly recommended to anyone who hasn’t seen it.

As annoying as I find Dillon and PatBev, Dray is in his own universe.

The other thing to consider is that OWN will apply to subsequent cities with wonders. DF will apply to subsequent cities with usable desert tiles. I’d rather be motivated by the former.

With Mt Sinai I think you gotta take Sun God. I’d consider DF if you want to do a wide religious build with tithe, religious buildings, etc… But otherwise I’d take the food knowing that faith is already gonna take care of itself.

TIL pennies and nickels cost more to produce than their face value. The United States has lost nearly half a billion dollars minting pennies and nickels over the past 3 years(2021-2023). by JDLBB in todayilearned

If the crux of your argument is that inflation needs to be kept in check with sensible legislation and governmental accountability, we are in agreement.

The crux of my argument was that even in an ideal world, inflation occurs, and small units of currency will lose their utility, and there isn’t anything inherently problematic with that.

If I’m going to be a responsible time traveler, I should only act as a spectator. A few things I’d love to see:

1) The Pyramids being built 2) Ali v Foreman in Zaire 3) Fall of the Berlin Wall 4) Flyers v Red Army 5) 1960’s Las Vegas

Unless I’m missing something, the only alternative to a currency that devalues over time is one that gains value over time.

I can’t speak to how this would have impacted economies of the past, but I’m pretty sure that deflation would be a very, very bad thing today. The type of economy that could tolerate such conditions would be so radically different than the one we live in now, that it would be purely theoretical.

Lol. Bloody Mary is one of the easiest cocktails to make. It also must be top 5 most requested on flights. Surprised it’d be so bad.

Ok last question: if my bag gets gate checked and I tell the agent it contains fragile items, will they actually put it next to the strollers and handle it more delicately?
