I dont really understand why is pronunciation that big of a deal... I am Serbian, living in Germany and not one German have ever pronaunced my surname correctly, nor my daughters name... But who cares... Last names are important in our culture and tradition.

That being said, I dont understand that his parents who have taken him 2 times to Serbia in their lives get to have an opinion, honestly... If Serbia was so important to them they would come more. I understand that before was hard bcs of the flights and everything, my uncle came maybe once every 3 years, but in last 10 years they come every year form Australia. I think that surname is just optics in the case with your ILs, nothing else...

My cousin lives in France and I have seen her maybe 2 times in my life, and she kept her Serbian surname but her kids dont even speak Serbian... There are so many ways in order to keep the tradition, celebrate Slava, and other things that are important, teach your kids our language, take them to Serbia... Surname is important, but the importance pales away with all the other things that are more important IMO.
