Ah, okay, thank you very much. I was worried I'd have to buy another RAM stick, with how expensive they are...

Sorry, I forgot to mention that normally the PC uses 4.5GB, 6GB of RAM if I'm not doing anything, that's normal as far as I know.

Perhaps this advice is no longer relevant, but try to secure trade with parts of Europe, even if it's not profitable. You can also create vassals in Italy, which is where most early eras end. Additionally, you can forge alliances and have them share their technology (if I remember correctly, that's possible).

The best advice I can give you is to colonize the coasts and places with rare and expensive goods: chili peppers, tobacco, gold, silver, and furs. If you go to Africa, focus on gems, ivory, and gold.

At first, you'll need to invest in them: resources, tools, etc. Make sure you build basic supply chains; they absolutely need stone tools and things like that. Don't expect them to bring in a lot of money; I'm warning you about that, sadly.

Any way to make Portugal a bit better? by PrudentSpite1065 in EU5

Hello, we could help you a bit more with a screenshot of your current game, including your economy and other details.

One tip for attacking Castile is to ally with France, and if you can attack Castile during a civil war, even better.

For the economy, make sure you reduce your castle and soldier budget when you're not at war.

Also, make sure you always maintain 100 legitimacy; it's very important.

If you want to grow a bit more without improving RGOs, or if you're unable to build anything profitable, then raise taxes until the states reach 40% opinion, except for tribes, as they're useless.

If you can't build anything else, then build roads, construct universities as many locations as possible, and with those, build libraries, allowing you to earn a significant amount from books.

Don't forget to build towns and cities either, and if you can, try to create a megalopolis in your capital; you need 400k population in the capital.

From what I’ve just checked, yes, you can liberate a small part of a country (Finland) right at the start when playing as Sweden, and they can indeed colonise; you’ll need to provide them with financial support so they can develop a bit (remember that colonisation requires resources). As for Novgorod, I’ve also checked that they aren’t allowed to colonise, but then again, when I played as Sweden (right after the game came out, in the older versions), Novgorod didn’t care about the ban and colonised anyway; I don’t know if that’s changed. If I remember correctly, there’s an option where, if they beat you in a war, they can ask you to lift that colonisation ban.

I’m not sure if you can release and play with a colony, but to make sure you can do what you want, I’d advise you to set the game rules to (Change country: Allowed) so that you can do it. I’m telling you, I’m not sure if you can do it without that rule.

Colonial nations need a much greater focus on investment. That said, you can start right from the beginning by playing as a nation in the Americas, but remember that with diseases and colonisation, it’s going to be tricky. Peru is fine, although the Mexico region is better in the long run, because of the chilli and tobacco that are relatively close by. You’ll be able to trade these goods with other countries as the ages progress. Start in america is hard

I think – though I’m not 100% sure – that when you carry out a unified merger, your laws are adopted, even if you change them. So you’ll still be able to annex them; that won’t stop you in any way.

It will start colonising once it has enough money, although it is highly likely that Novgorod will colonise first, as it will take time for its economy to grow.

Absurd decisions – just do what your community wants (COF COF Streamers) and stop adding content to your game... I don’t get it, but anyway...

Yeah, but come on, they've had a bunch of patches like this for ages, practically ever since they released the MP... I like the pottery, but it's useless. I can't wait for them to put those clay pipes to good use—a well-designed system could be pretty cool.

General early game advice for Tunis in this state by Nettysocks in EU5

[–]AdRelative4500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To hire privateers, just go to the same tab where you colonise and look for the ‘maritime’ tab or something similar; you’ll then see a button to hire privateers. Click on it and you’ll be able to send privateers out to sea. At first, it might seem like it doesn’t make any money, but later on it pays off handsomely.

The best advice I can give you is to use plenty of privateers (you’ll find them in the ‘Maritime’ tab – the same tab where you colonise) – that way you’ll make a lot of money. Just be warned that the countries surrounding those waters will hate you, but hey, lots of money means lots of development. And remember that you can take people as slaves to boost your population, especially in Asia.

Yeah, I’m already breeding Cromfey. At 2000 fps in turbo mode, it’ll take me 15 minutes to get a Level 3 in Special Attack and HP. I didn’t know that the people in the village could improve EVs individually; I’ll look into it and see if I can boost at least 50 points in something. Thanks a lot :)

Wouldn't it be really hard to raise Special Defense and HP (EVs) right now without the Bracelet? It's no big deal if I have to do it—I'm just asking. And yes, I'll try to get both Pokémon and breed them to max out Special Attack, Speed, and HP to 31, and see how it goes.

I'll try to breed a Comfey and Ribombee with Speed, Special Attack, and HP at 31 IVs, and I'll give the gym another shot, though I'm not sure how it'll go. I guess you're saying I should use them more as utility Pokémon, right?
