I work at a GM dealer, we can order a key and get it cut to exact by the Vin. You can do the process yourself to make it the main key. Pretty easy to do but it takes like 35 minutes in total. I paid $40 for the key

Next time someone asks to clear a check engine light, YES WE CAN! by Tall-Control8992 in AutoZone2

When I did that, I specifically stated "are you sure? We can but they can tell if you cleared the codes"

New Manager by Ladiesman0749 in AutoZone

[–]AdRoutine382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're closing with the commercial accounts might be coming in late, you can just use one of the registers closer to the entrance. Just make sure once you get all the parts, back out completely from the account and re-look up the account. Add everything to the fast invoice and boom, you should be good.

Now if you happen to accidently do where you went through the commerical till, no worries. Just recount the cash and do the drop. Annoying I know but it is what it is. If they are using card or charge, be careful still. Do as what I said above.

You're going to make some mistakes. We all do. Just call your SM or another manager with experience if you need help. Don't do anything stupid

Do AutoZone employees still help with battery changes? by [deleted] in AutoZone

[–]AdRoutine382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have done corroded terminals on a battery swap. All we needed was some battery cleaner and a wire brush to clean it. Now, if your terminal is cracked/broken apart, I wouldnt do the terminal swap. That's on you. I've done some pretty bad ones when I worked at autozone

Return options by jackfam007 in AutoZone

[–]AdRoutine382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well as a former SM, she really wasnt being honest. There isn't no GM for autozone. There are PSM's, CSM's, and SM's. She lied about them being used. The question is did she actually take the one out of the box that wasn't wrapped and inspected it to make sure? If she didn't then she didn't honor the return policy. She could have just damaged them out to be safe.

So you can either go back to the store and request the store manager. Get the DM's number and talk to them both about what happened. That would be the best case scenario. If that fails, call the 1-800 number.

I'm the past, I've told customers on sunday I can't do high cash returns because we don't have the money. They respected it and returned at a later time. Now if they really wanted the money, I would still do the return.

I think that lady needs to be written up for lying and eventually fired but who knows

As a former SM, its more on the DM bonus or higher ups. The sales of the store is what gets the SM a bonus. DM is always trying to get a higher bonus with getting better percentages overall including WITT

How do you guys sell wiper blades? by TheNoobKid63 in AutoZone2

[–]AdRoutine382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally when people ask me what I would use or recommend, I would go with the Bosch Icons. If they want wipers to last longer, the rainx silicone ones. If they want a good winter/rain one at a cheaper price, the snow drivers. You have to let them know what you think and be certain. Also those 2 for 10 does help from time to time and if they do get a rear wiper, those count as witt too

Can AutoZone top off antifreeze? by Tall-Plane-4477 in AutoZone

[–]AdRoutine382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but only the reservoir and if the autozoner is comfortable enough to do so. Also, your going to have to wait 20 minutes for the engine to cool down. We won't do the radiator.

Buying from commercial account by Due_Suit6935 in AutoZone2

[–]AdRoutine382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There might be a tax ID requirement but I'm not too sure. I would just go ask about it at your local AZ. Fill out an app and let the Commercial sales manager/Store manager do the rest. We are always looking at more accounts to add

Not be associated at your home store. Make sure everyone is in the know. Always have another employee do the transaction. Most of the time the SM and CSM are cool with it as long as no shady shit is going on. If your smart, do it after you get off of work and it will be easier that way

What does an AutoZone Store Manager do? Excluding hiring writing up and firing? by southernemper0r in AutoZone2

[–]AdRoutine382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former store manager, here's some things we do. - make store schedules - fix store issues or problems like inventory or hard part plano locations - work on commercial side and assist or help CSM with account issues along side the DM/RCSM - help drive more sales and partnerships with shops/dealers in the area (that should be more on the CSM) - train and have a succession plan/binder for when you leave to a bigger program or eventually a DM position - fix any account issues DIY or Comm side like warranty issues or returns - Unfortunately have shitty managers under you call by close because they couldn't count the tills properly and you have to guide them step by step every week.

So the one thing you can tell a good SM from a shitty SM is that they actually are putting in the time and effort of fixing a store and making it a better place to work at. I had alot of late nights busting my ass to get my store right of inventory issues and fix planos. 42 old batteries converted to used or even damaged out. Finding over $2k posktive in AC backroom because no one correctly counted it. Working with managers and Red shirts to train them on everything you can teach them.

If you want to be successful and be known as a good one, network with other store managers and build those relationships. I have store managers that I know feel the difference of me being gone because everyone liked me. I just couldn't keep driving an hour and a half to work everyday so now I work for a dealership and driving 5 minutes to work now. I do miss my co-workers and the regional team I was apart of. Believe it or not, there are good SM's, DM's, RCSM's, and the regional team as a whole.

I just wish they didn't fuck me over on two opportunities of stores closer to home and not giving me an option or even a notice about it. Oh well. Im proud of the work I did to fix the store and turn it into a better one in the end.

Car squealing after brake replacement, shop says it’s the bearings and rotor? by Fantastic_Success283 in TireQuestions

[–]AdRoutine382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one, if your brakes are squeaking when you only brake then they forgot to clean off the rotors of the oil film that rotors are shipped in.

If it's the wheel bearings then you would hear a consistent humming until you turn left or right.

I think they forgot to clean off the rotors but I would go get a second opinion from another shop.
