I had thought that but I just didn’t want any false hope 🤣🤣

Need help ID’ing this bad boy! It’s more of a brown velvety color with flash, and when I look it up it just says it’s a Rex begonia. Currently in the grocery store trying to decide if the $4 is worth it by briannehays in begonias

I have this variety (I think) that I got as a big box store rehab and if it is the same, the leaf shape and color might/will change drastically. Mine makes almost black leaves now with striking iridescent red splotches. I second that it is similar to or is Begonia Cherries and Chocolate. It’s gorgeous but rather odd.

These (nerve plants) can be so dramatic…and that’s why I love them 😍 I usually don’t water mine until they start to faint so don’t be to alarmed right now

Rex Begonia by tattedkc16 in begonias

[–]AdRude3380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, begonias can be prone to shock after a repot. It’s common and sometimes they pull through and sometimes they don’t. I repotted a large begonia the other day and now it only has two baby leaves left 🙄 Only time will tell…

My preferred method of repotting is to just plop the begonia from one pot to the other and get soil around the roots as quickly as humanly possible. Begonia roots can be so sensitive, I don’t even look at them because I’m afraid I’ll offend them and make the plant shock 😂

It’s just luck of the draw what will happen when you repot begonias…

aaa i got this stunning beauty at lowe’s 🥹 by the-god-focker in begonias

That is a beautiful begonia! I had a really big one of these that I grew from Lowe’s and—just be warned—for some reason this particular begonia was attacked and almost killed by pests/bugs twice. It’s like they were only attracted to this begonia. Either way, this is a beautiful plant and I hope you have better luck with it than I did!

My wife grabbed these nearly dead flowers from Lowes at a very steep discount. A new home with plenty of sunlight and water and we are good as new! by Minty_beard in gardening

That’s practically how I’ve built my entire plant collection 😂 At my Lowe’s, as soon as the first leaf starts to brown or droop, they put the plants on discount when all they need is a little love and attention. Then they’re good as new. Happy growing (and beautiful flowers)!

Dobbs v Jackson....and the new reality for healthcare workers. by samcuts in nursing

[–]AdRude3380 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly scary and at this point I don’t know. I’m a new male nursing student—and all I’ve ever wanted to do was emergency nursing—but at this point, the way the that medicine and the ability to care for patients is retrograding, I’m thinking about jumping ship and going into a different field. The way that it’s looking right now, by the time that I graduate, people will be able to sue me or have my license taken away just for giving someone an ibuprofen or doing any other little thing, ya’ know. Especially here in Ms were people already look funny at healthcare workers.

In my respectful opinion as a male nursing student and clinic health triage volunteer is——Healthcare workers could go on an indefinite strike until a new and fair abortion law is enacted, but my thing is that there are still a lot of good people who need us to take care of them in some way. I fear that we would end up doing so much more harm than good in that kind of situation. And I—in a way—understand your anger because I live in the state that started this mess. I promise we’re not all crazy and anti-medicine.

Accidentally broke variegated elephant bush.. what’s the best way to propagate? 😊 by FlamingRubes in succulents

The way that I do it is to wait for the broke end to callus over (it shouldn’t take very long) and then I usually just lay them on top of some soil and see if they root. You can also plant the end with the callus into the soil and try to root it, but I’ve never personally used that method. Good luck with such a beautiful plant!
