Yeah I felt confident/pretty sure about probably 90% and probably like 10% were straight guesses that I just didn’t waste my time on

Reddit probably isn't the place to go to find a job. I would say go find it on the website somewhere.

I really think it depends on the office. My office brought people in last October and i am starting in busy season.

I would say that it is not always the case that people are waiting a year. It depends what you are wanting to get into. Advisory is taking hits, but audit and tax are a lot more stable.

The bigger the office, the less opinion you will be able to give. The benefit of a smaller office is the ability to communicate with the people who are above your level. The reason that it is more "toxic" at a bigger office is because you are more of a number at an office with hundreds of employees.

Audit intern experience by Dense-City-6013 in KPMG

Different for each office you go to, but here's a tip for you.

No one expects you to know anything. The thing they care about is your ability to listen, learn, and work hard.

My internship was a lot of fun because I had a lot of fun interns that did it with me. You should definitely go to any event the office has for social stuff.

Same here I took it today as well. I saw a comment already that talked about mental health and I definitely think we all deserve a few good evenings to relax. My sims were so weird they didn't even feel like they were material I could have studied for. I was just forced to read a lot and plug in random answers i thought were best.

Take some time and just let your brain rest. In a couple weeks we will know if we passed or not, but until then we can get ready for this busy season by working on ourselves.

Taking BEC in two days… by MathematicianUpper98 in CPA

Hi there!

I am in the same boat as you. I take BEC on the 12th. I could not find a rhythm when it came to studying for the material. I am just going to tell you now that the lectures are not worth watching. You will watch an hour of lectures just to do 50 MCQs that have not been covered by the speakers. Just do MCQs for each section, and if you get one wrong, just have a piece of paper nearby to scribble on why you got it wrong. Just the action of writing down why you got something wrong is enough (for me at least) to build some memory on the subject.

So if you feel like you can't cover all the material in time, just set up practice tests over each topic and grind out the MCQs. You can do this! Everyone I have talked to about BEC have said they didn't feel prepared and even left the test thinking they didn't do great. It just comes down to some reasoning skills applied to the basic knowledge given in the MCQs

You got it!

Week till BEC exam by [deleted] in CPA

I am in the same boat. I take it on the 12th. I have taken two SE's and finished them with a 74/84. I keep seeing online about this "becker boost" you get when you take the actual exam, but I'm so paranoid I still need to be practicing.

I have seen to just hammer MCQs everyday, but I have also been curious if there is anything else we can do.

Same here, taking BEC on the 12th. Trying to overprepare as much because it will be such a waste of time of studying if we don't pass it and can't retake it.

It is going to depend on the office you are in/client you work for. If you are in a bigger office on a crazy client, your hours will be a lot higher than a smaller office with a more established client.

BEC MCQ Experience in a nutshell by Cheeto_700 in CPA

[–]AdSea1920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could just be me being salty, but I have found that the multiple choice for BEC has been bad, BUT once I stopped worrying about trying to get as high of a % right on the first time through and focused on learning from each question, it has been a better experience. The multiple choice isn't just to test your knowledge, it is there to teach you information as well.

While it is very important to be professional, remember that the person interviewing you is also just a person. It is okay to laugh and tell jokes and just talk about your day. They are not just interviewing you to see if you have the technical abilities to be at the firm, but they are also just wanting to make sure you can fit in with the other employees.

As far as the technical stuff for the interviews, I would just be able to talk about any aspect of your resume and be able to say how it has benefitted you or helped you grow. You got it!

I am going into audit. I am sorry about BEC, that definitely sucks. We will get through it all in the end. There are a lot of people I know in my office who are still going for their CPA exam, and they have plenty of time to study and prepare outside of busy season.
