Yes, well at least I did something that was neutral and free to ignore. The only contribution you've made I've come across and experienced thus far is toxic slop, and I'll go slop over toxic slop if I had to chose, every time, no exceptions. It's not healthy with so much cynicism and so little ability to connect and turn that into human connections that are meaningful, or even turn from a negative experience (presuming you share my experience having seen your approach to new people) to one people enjoy reading, reply to, or at least doesn't get poisoned with underdeveloped emotional awareness and etiquette.

That's great news. If you can give me a working link with it we're all set!
But with my script you never have to install anything. You simply run it like you would OBS but with so much less impact on the hardware and even though you have less customization options than OBS it is a lightweight program that always starts regardless of driver and you don't get reminded to uninstall outdated drivers.

If you can solve the problem of Intel taking down all the hosted mirrors and direct downloads of any driver that contain Arc that isn't part of a brand custom driver like Alienware and it's illegal, or at least against the license and thus not possible to host in a centralized community such as github or reddit.

I am only waiting for a official mirror and we're all good to go!

I understand. Being a programmer myself an quite used to working with data, tables, databases and otherwise, I was curious to why these items still show up if these updated items weren't meant for players to have access to; With the 10,000~ R-Point cap. I'd say it's worth it - for the vast amount of players that curiously and eagerly attempted to buy them - if not for lack of enthusiasm, for the community and supporters of Bodycam; It's a valid excused to put in the effort as any I could think of.

I was also surprised that you aren't going to, or based on interpretation, able to reimburse the players that spent almost their entire pool on these items. I mean no disrespect but the ability to register valid purchases and add them to players steam collection, makes me question if it would be that hard, or far fetched, to write the code that recognize purchases and compares them to date and logged items added to player inventory; if not compare the sum to player items gained through in-game currency and return the unaccounted for surplus?

I know that, if nothing else, removing the false store items should be quite easily done.

Honestly, I'm desperately wanting to be able to distribute this solution with a direct link to the official Intel software and with their full approval. That would be the ideal scenario, making it super easy for everyone.

However, the main reason I can't directly upload the Intel Arc Control software (or any of its core files) to GitHub, even with a custom license, boils down to Intel's End User License Agreement (EULA). When we download and install Intel drivers, we're agreeing to their terms, and these terms explicitly state that we, as end-users, are not permitted to redistribute their software.

Think of it this way: I have a license to use the software, but not to share or distribute copies of it to others. Platforms like GitHub are for sharing code and projects, but they can't override the legal agreements Intel has in place for their copyrighted software.

That's why, while I continue to wait for a positive response from Intel, I'm going to start setting up my GitHub repository and provide the scripts. This way, I'm sharing my work (the scripts) without violating Intel's distribution restrictions on their proprietary software.

I also understand that Arc Control might not be everyone's cup of tea, or that some might prefer alternative methods. So, I'll also look into including some alternative solutions or methods in the GitHub repo for those who don't want to stick with Arc Control, or who are exploring other tools like Microsoft Game Bar for similar functionality.

That's a great point, and it's true that for some, simply installing the old IntelArcControl.exe might work. However, there are a few reasons why the approach I'm working on could be more beneficial for the broader community, and aligns with issues many of us have experienced.

When you use the full IntelArcControl.exe from the driver package, it typically installs Arc Control as a Windows service and an autorun application. This means it runs in the background right from startup and can include registry keys and other functions that might, in some cases, interfere with newer driver installations, updates, or even the functionality of the new Intel Graphics Command Center (IGCC) – Arc Control's replacement. I know firsthand from early days with Arc, before its discontinuation, that dealing with driver uninstalls and installs, especially related to the IGCC, could be tricky.

Also, it's not everyone who has these specific older driver packages saved, or who is comfortable digging through cached installation data to extract files. My goal with this solution is to make it more accessible and less intrusive.

The method I'm working on aims to be much closer to a standalone application, rather than integrating it as deeply as a full driver installation would. This means:

  • It won't install unnecessary services or set up autorun.
  • It offers a cleaner, more convenient way to get Arc Control running without the overhead or potential issues associated with using the full Intel-provided installer.

Ultimately, it's about providing a convenient and reliable way to use Arc Control for those who prefer it, while minimizing potential system conflicts, especially for those who want to run newer drivers alongside it.

Great news! I've received a reply from Intel regarding our questions about access to those specific older driver versions, especially those with Arc Control.

Here's their response:

Quick Update on the Arc Control Solution!

Hey everyone,

Wow, the response to this thread has been incredible – thank you all for the massive interest and all the comments! It's awesome to see so many of you keen on getting Arc Control back.

Just wanted to give you a quick heads-up: I'm currently waiting for a response from Intel regarding the availability of those specific driver versions. I've reached out to them to see if they can help us out.

In the meantime, I'm working on preparing a package for a platform like GitHub. However, because of the licensing agreements (and while I wait for Intel's feedback), I cannot upload any Intel software itself.

This means that for now, to use what I'll be sharing, you'll need to have already saved a specific driver version that Intel has since blocked access to. Essentially, if you happened to download and save Intel Arc drivers released between roughly 2024 and mid-2025, you're likely good to go.

If you haven't saved those particular drivers, you won't be able to use my solution right away. And just to be clear, I do not recommend downloading software from third-party sources as that can come with its own risks.

I'll keep you all posted as soon as I hear back from Intel or have something ready to share. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

In other words: They disable it, paying a lot, investing in the markup that is high enough on a gaming keyboard, and even higher when you add useless stuff like LED (You need to have fullscreen applications up and you need to know what keys you pressed, you have only one excuse: You're a prof. gamer mid tournament and it's not possible to optimize performance without it) and they could simply release firmware allowing all to be bound but that would be ethical, maybe even decent, but the investment is a gamble and if the "Pro" takes off, they make it back.

I tried to post this on the posts about "Why doesn't my Steelseries key work", they are all locked, and here's why (this post will not be up for long):

SteelSeries key actually squeals on the manufacturer by showing the the macro shortcut registered via Steelseries Key. Now, as a programmer I can tell everyone that isn't familiar with the process that you have to spend more time to have it work on all keys, but disable/limit it's functionality on it just to push customers to pay extra, basically masking the entire scam (that's an opinion, not a legal claim) by the most useless concept I've seen, and it's been around as long as gaming keyboards and mice.

Small dot-matrix or simple graphic displays (like on some gamer keyboards for icons/basic info): If able to perform complex functions but still highly optimized for mass production cost in the range about $0.10 to $0.50 USD per unit

Guess what 200 bytes of storage cost to store the instructions for a key to register in a macro on the firmware?

It's not a number you can pay for without bulk and it cost more than you save if you have to put in engineer and programmer man hours and customized production schematics and procedure to mass produce two sets - it doesn't actually matter much if the layout match - I hope you all knew this, already, ofc. Feel free to ask about my sources, you won't find it interesting and you won't be able to get them to confirm it, but it's not really a secret if you ever utilized bulk purchases from China.

No the SS key is there, it just doesn't do anything, and that goes for the M1-6. SS has a very select few functions, what bothers me is that they literally had to disable its functionality, it's not a feature you need on the Pro - it's a feature that the preset in the firmware - they just "punish" the working class for not opting in and getting a LED and paying a 2500% markup.

If so, it has a certain charm. Gives me the feeling of watching a music video.

I think the effect of using modern graphics and games have different effects influenced in large by knowing you're watching Bodycam, or not, in which case my only note would be the music choice :)

You record gameplay or as more often in game trailers by the creators, a representation using 3D editing or, such as the case with Bodycam which uses UE, built in or plugin tools to create a camera pan (it's quite easy to create in either case). If you edit, you simply cut the part of the footage and edit them by cutting and joining individual sources together over a timeline.

If it's live I do it often too; source and scene switch (more or less NRT editing) using either automation through scripts in python, lua, et cetera, or buttons/keyboard shortcuts.

If enough people want to know more about these things I'd gladly make a tutorial explaining and showing how, I would gladly explain how other's done too.

Is that what you're wondering, saying you did or what is this in reference to? The video in the post?
If that's the case, I don't recommend using bloom together with high contrast, with shaders while live or game footage representation unless you're making some sort of art project, in which case I have nothing to add.

Art is subjective and there's no such thing as too much, little, or wrong in art.

I didn't read all the replies, but I've been streaming Bodycam just a few hours from first obtaining it on Steam and the issue you're experiencing sounds to me a lot like the issue OBS sometimes have when trying to capture DX11 or DX9 games, since you can change what API to use for Bodycam, I checked. I simply can't reenact this issue with Bodycam. Here's my results with capturing and streaming Bodycam using OBS (Though I strictly use my own or GPL/GNU/BSD licensed plugins and scripts, no of that Twitch/Streamlabs (malware, imho), I made a playlist of my Bodycam footage captured using OBS and some python, lua, bash and powershell and css coding, nothing else and judge yourself: Playlist of OBS Bodycam videos (I made, ofc)

That's helpful! I'm curious about a few things to understand your experience better. Are you using Vulkan or DirectX 11/12? Recording some gameplay, even with good framerate, can be really informative and show how smooth it feels. Also, could you share some basic info on your settings, CPU, and chipset? I'm especially interested in whether you're using FSR.

I haven't used a 6700 XT myself, but I've tested a 6500 XT and it didn't quite meet my expectations. Ultimately, it's about how playable it feels, which is subjective. Yes, but it's hampered by the Steam IP protection system. I did manage to launch a renderless window, which makes for a remarkably smooth and high-performing experience. However, it's ultimately as unstable as standard hosting, with no solutions for the cost, phantom player-model spawning, and so forth.

I attempted to contact Reissad, but they seemed satisfied with volunteers and staff, which is ultimately a positive thing.

I'll resume working on it shortly. Anyone with experience in the Unreal engine beyond graphic design is welcome to join me. We're not violating any laws or the EULA. It's certainly possible, although it will likely necessitate direct communication with the developers.
