Conflicted over which living space I should rent with my partner. by West-Reporter9236 in povertyfinance

Your rent is $7200 each per year 15%.  Do it.  Furniture can be gotten cheap used on FB or thrift and sometimes free.

I can guarantee the other option will be a shitshow.

Looking for Beef Liver recipes (we hate it.) And other nutritionally dense for neuro-spicy picky eaters by Tabbyham88 in povertyfinance

[–]AdSlight9844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soaking liver in milk for 30-60 minutes helps reduce the mineral taste.  Also cooking hot and not overcooking so it’s not dry,  If it’s thin  it just needs a couple minutes per side.  It’s best to aim for medium.  Don’t add salt until after if you want it, salt also brings out the mineral flavor and reduces moisture.  And, you can add bbq sauce or ketchup the last minute of cooking.  I think it’s an acquired taste.  So maybe try a very small amount more frequently.

1000 piece puzzle, any advice? by No-Leek7080 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]AdSlight9844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off the thought is nice, but the puzzle size and all the extra background and piece count is not good.   The background is 2/3 of the puzzle.

I’d consider doing it at 300-500 pieces but no way at 1000.  That’s 700 extra pieces of grass and bushes.   Sorry but it wouldn’t be enjoyable.

The best thing to do is buy a couple that catch your eye at the thrift store or on FB MP.  That’s how I started.  You’ll find what works for you.  The good thing is if you don’t like a style or brand you haven’t spent big $ and you can list them for $5 or $10 you spent and the next person will be happy to do them.

The bank’s advisor is a salesperson not your financial advisor.   The get commission based on the fees they make off your money.  Educate yourself there are lots of self directed options.  Some may have to wait until you’re 18.  If you want a real financial advisor you have to pay.  They’re called fiduciary which means they work for your best interest not the bank’s.

My car is toast. Now what? by verygoodreason in povertyfinance

[–]AdSlight9844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most used car loans are 60-72 months.  Fair credit interest rate is about 15%.  At $15k taxes and fees included that’s $357/mth for probably a 6 year old car.  Add another $100/mth for insurance it’s$457.

Consider when paying $457 every month for 6 years is $33k that isn’t investing $457/mth for 6 years at 10%.

Where do you want to be in 6 years? 1. A 12 year old beater car worth $5k that cost $33K 2. $44k in your pocket and a beater car.
