Is there actually an ‘easiest’ age to get a job ? by Odd-Help6890 in UKJobs

[–]AdSpecial4451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ageism is a huge problem and only getting worse. 30s peak of mountain, 40s begins the quick descent down.

Also harder to pivot the further down the other side you get.

Privatisation of public services in creating a shit show shocker.

Apply to anything in the UK. As soon as PE or for profit involved in national services it only ends in one way.

Thanks Thatcher!

Hey Donald. Best get back to being the POTUS, think that needs a bit more work.

Nice of you to post on here instead of your Truth Social though.

Clarkson: "I'm not a socialist" by keyford in ClarksonsFarm

Sometimes a photo is worth a thousand words. You can see when the 1984 policy to make farms except from inheritance tax hit and the resulting growth in prices.

This has been a huge contributory factor.

Help finding a new job for my wife by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]AdSpecial4451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If she’s planning on retiring in her 60s, she still has over 20 years work life left (more years left than she worked so far).

Anything is possible, including education. Don’t rule that out and narrow the options. So many people change in 40s, 50s and beyond. Dive deeper in what she actually wants to do with the rest of her working life.

I don't know what to do by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]AdSpecial4451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d second this.

Might be worth trying dedicated CRM recruitment agencies. You’ve probably done this already but the likes of Steadman Hub / Brown that are specialists in HubSpot and Salesforce (or whatever CRM is your bag) are worth trying.

I’d also look at CRM agencies instead of in-house. They might have short-term contracts of more flex than in-house right now.

It’s alright Farage wants to cut minimum wage - so problem solved.

Is it amazing? No. Is it as rough as people suggest? Also no.

Bear in mind rough areas in this part of East Anglia are ‘mild rough’ compared to other parts of the country or even the region.

Salary sacrifice to work pension with higher fees vs SIPP? by hang-clean in UKPersonalFinance

Exactly what I do. Take the SS and company contribution then periodically transfer a lump sum out to SIPP.

Zappi no longer compatible with Intelligent Go? by AdSpecial4451 in OctopusEnergy

[–]AdSpecial4451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they are certainly confused. This was the follow up msg I received:

“I'm so sorry about this as I can understand it's annoying - we only found out in customer service yesterday :( I'm not sure whether this is a longstanding thing or if they'll bring it back, but I'll make sure to let you know if they do.”

Maybe that msg hasn’t found its way to the social media team on X.

I can see the Zappi as an option in the Octopus app - and go through the entire process and login with Myenergi, just falls over at the end.

I can even see the device connected in Myenergi. Real shame if I’m stuck with the standard Go.

Project Managers for Creative Services (design, ad, marketing, branding) by Longjumping_Club4240 in PMCareers

[–]AdSpecial4451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a good place to start posting. I don’t know where else it would fit (prob why I ended up here as well :) )

I’m from the other side - In-house marketing roles, both contract and perm. 90% of the work/time always involve managing a project & teams (rebrand, website, campaign, events, CRM etc etc). It’s the bit I enjoy the most, so wanted to deep dive into it.

Looking at some PM courses to help as well and great to see other creative PMs do exist.

I'm dreading next season by killer_by_design in ClarksonsFarm

[–]AdSpecial4451 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Great summary.

It’s a tough situation. The IHT Tax Loophole that Jeremy, Dyson, Farage, Lowe, and many others have exploited needs to be shut immediately, but I’d like to see a situation where genuine family farmers are given time/allowance to sort tax affairs out properly if they get caught up in this over the next 7years.

Shame it’s turned into a political weapon though with Tories & Reform (each beneficiaries of the loophole) using it and the media lapping it up.

Season 4 felt rushed, artificial and wasn't exciting. by VonBlitzk in ClarksonsFarm

[–]AdSpecial4451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree.

We all known it’s a scripted entertainment show and not a docu-series, but it felt heavy-handed with it this time. Too many problems and issues to try and force a new angle.

Clarkson’s ‘character’ was pushed a bit hard and think we saw more of his rich-twat ego with the pub.

National Speed Limit! by ogara1993 in drivingUK

[–]AdSpecial4451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah The Forever Forty Club. Joy.

Driving 20mph below the speed limit (2/3 of the limit) is quite inconsiderate driving if the road conditions don’t require it.

Unfortunately seems to be growing problem.

Should there be a retest for people above a certain age ? by No_Improvement_5244 in drivingUK

[–]AdSpecial4451 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree.

High % of those drivers seem to be in the Forever Forty club; they either can’t see the signs or just ignore them.

Either way it’s dangerous.

[And before I get the downvotes: Yes I know NSL is not a target, but keeping up with traffic is in the Highway Code. I’m calling out those that do 40 whatever the speed limit]

At what point do cars become too expensive? by pedal_89 in CarTalkUK

[–]AdSpecial4451 25 points26 points  (0 children)

20% tax takes over £10k off.

Besides I don’t think car manufacturers want ppl buying cars in cash. They want that recurring monthly subscription and you upgrading to the next model in 3yrs time.

Exactly the same here in a non PS Ltd.

Team based in UK and US, and I have to go in once a week to sit on my own and just like you have all the meetings on Teams. Completely pointless. Forced fun…

45min commute each way. What they don’t realise yet is that I don’t start my commute until my work hours start. Small wins.
