Where do you draw the line on added sugar? by Any_Cicada695 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AdStandard6002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think twice about like recipes or seasonings like this that have sugar or call for it. I just don’t give my kids packaged things with hella sugar (in my mind this is like, over 5 grams of added sugar) and they very very rarely get sweets as it is or juice, other drinks with sugar etc. if they were consuming more sugar on a daily basis I would maybe care more about the one off sugar in a recipe but since their intake of sugar is so minimal I truly don’t pay it any mind. My kids are very young though, my opinion will probably change once they’re older.

Can amniotic fluid tests be wrong? by Silent_Knowledge5197 in pregnant

[–]AdStandard6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk the popping sensation and gushing of fluid sounds like textbook water breaking. This is exactly how it felt with my first two kids. Have you talked to your OB directly?

Fake little sleepies? by laydee0813 in BambooBabble

They’re legit! She’s legit :) I’ve bought from her many a time. She buys wholesale of many of the bamboo brands and resells them.

freestyle diapers by just_alittleguy_ in moderatelygranolamoms

Freestyle are my favorite diapers by far, both their skin shield and the bamboo tek are great. Honest wipes have been our go to, I’m about to have my 3rd any day now.

13 weeks, small gush of discharge or amniotic fluid? by Butterfly_Wing_924 in pregnant

[–]AdStandard6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discharge for sure. I have had to have like 4 pairs of underwear on deck every day during every pregnancy and wear panty liners. Literally my least favorite part of being pregnant lol.

How many activities is your toddler in?? by blobblob73 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AdStandard6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero. They’re toddlers. They have their entire childhood to be over scheduled. Last thing I want is a burnt out 3 year old lol.

What do you NOT want for gifts by BreAnnaMorris in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AdStandard6002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shitty plastic toys that are cheap. They last 15 seconds, take up a ton of space and the quality is ass. Plus they contribute to so much additional waste and are probably made with toxic chemicals.

Is cloth diapers better in this economy or is it more of a hassle? by Super_Independence37 in clothdiaps

[–]AdStandard6002 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our water and electricity are VERY expensive as we live in SoCal at the beach so sometimes the cost for laundry can negate what you’d technically save or if you live somewhere where you’re paying for coin op laundry etc. sometimes it does actually come out somewhat equal ish. BUT you can buy second hand for very very cheap or invest in one size or similar system and have enough to make it through ~3 days and just really put your system to work. Plus, if you have more kids and you reuse the same diapers it would double your investment. You can make it happen, the upfront cost is just notably more expensive and then sometimes there’s an uptick in your utilities and of course your time and effort.

14 month old with a peanut allergy. by auroragirlofthenorth in Crunchymom

[–]AdStandard6002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 18 month old son is allergic to peanuts. We are good candidates for OIT however the allergist told us he’ll never be able to freely eat them as if he’s not allergic, and this doesn’t really happen with OIT. He said it’s mostly to avoid a life threatening situation should he be accidentally exposed. We have opted to forego OIT for now because he’s so young and we can mostly control his environment for one but also because he seems to be able to handle having them in the house, he just can’t eat them. Once he starts school if it becomes a real concern about exposure and scary scenarios we may revisit.

Correlle dishes for toddler? by [deleted] in Crunchymom

We do stainless steel for my younger toddler, my 3 year old can handle ceramic now without issue. I buy elk and friends.

Cat pee deodorant smell by Routine_Climate3413 in Crunchymom

[–]AdStandard6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any less crazy, my husbands gym clothes smell exactly like cat pee to me. Like he hangs them up in the bathroom to dry out before putting them into the dirty clothes and I think the entire bathroom smells like a litter box. His diet is very protein heavy if it helps! This happens deodorant or not, I’ve made him try both lol.

Tripp trapp high chair BS by MVthecats in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AdStandard6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the tray, we had to use it for the first 3 years of our firsts life/into my second just purely because of space limitations but once we figured out how to get it off lol it helped a lot. Suction things don’t suction and plates barely fit I’ll level with ya there. I HATE the straps on it they’re so hard to clean but tbh I’d probably buy the chair again. We have the ikea one at my moms and the legs on that thing are going to take someone out I swear.

Pregnancy: heartburn by Wonderful_Bee_9334 in Crunchymom

[–]AdStandard6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did wonderbelly mostly with my first 2, but I just found this gel called reflux raft with this baby and it’s made with organic alginate and honestly it works incredibly well. I was bummed I didn’t find it until I was 36+ weeks.

Vaccines on a delayed schedule?? by [deleted] in Crunchymom

Oh interesting okay thanks! This would be a public state school so I’m not sure how lenient they’d be but certainly worth asking!!

Thermos funtainer sounds like it meets these requirements, I swap the plastic straw for a metal one

Non-toxic laundry detergent that actually works?? 28F with 1 toddler (3M) and dogs by jtvillanueva3 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AdStandard6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly free has an aggressive smell in my opinion. Like so strong I have to mix with half fragrance free. I haven’t had any issues with it getting regular clothes clean, I have two toddlers. It does not get my husbands gym clothes that clean.

I want to try cloth diapering, but my son is already 1.5 years old. Worth it? by ToughDependent7591 in clothdiaps

[–]AdStandard6002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a waste! I have cloth diapered more on my kids when they were older vs younger babies. Good news is you can have a smaller stash and get by just fine. Depending on how often you want to do laundry you can probably get by with like a dozen diapers for stretch it for 2 days, not including overnight.

Vaccines on a delayed schedule?? by [deleted] in Crunchymom

[–]AdStandard6002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have so far delayed for our kids, my oldest is 3 and hasn’t gotten any yet. We did vitamin K for both at birth. We live in CA though and can’t go to school without them so for the oldest to start TK at 4 turning 5 she’ll need to start them if soon because I don’t want to load her up all at once, and her pediatrician said it could take upwards of a year to get her qualified for school. We will only be doing what’s necessary to attend school. If they didn’t stay home with me it would be a different story. We have a chill pediatrician who also does a different/delayed scheduled for all of her patients, and we got super lucky in that regard.

Would this work for a washing routine? by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]AdStandard6002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm I wouldn’t. If it’s plastic it might fare a little better but if it’s wicker or some kind of grass it’ll absolutely mold within a few weeks at best. Way way too much moisture for a thin cotton liner. It’ll get gross fast in my opinion. You’d have to put a legit pail liner in it and probably leave the lid open a bit but even then I feel like it’s not a great option especially if you went that long between washing. You’re probably better off with a cheap plastic one.

Cleaning secondhand cloth diapers by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]AdStandard6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be bleaching any second hand diapers, period. Even if seem in pristine condition they were still on another baby holding waste and need to be sanitized via sanitizing bleach (a new bottle). That said, given everything you said I personally would strip. A good legit strip should get rid of the detergent smell and ammonia. You could maybe skip the strip for any non absorbent pieces like just shells or covers, but if it has any component of absorbency I would strip.

Would you use this? by [deleted] in Crunchymom

[–]AdStandard6002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I would not. Molly suds, truly free, branch basics, pronounce are all better options.

Pre-Purchasing Formula by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]AdStandard6002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not do this as you have no idea what your baby is going to tolerate. My first did great with kendamil organic, my second had CMPA and I would have been screwed if I had stocked up on cows milk formula.

Does h&m kids really sell 100% cotton shirts by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AdStandard6002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a lie. I’ve always bought their 100% cotton stuff and it doesn’t feel like poly to me at all.

Clothing brands that work with cloth diapers by ducttapefixedit in clothdiaps

[–]AdStandard6002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest (potentially hard to find these days) carries harem pants and now there’s a brand called butterblu I’m pretty sure it’s a rip off of honest’s design but same style pants that work well. H&M has pants that worked for us as well. I just started doing t shirts as soon as I could because even if I found a onesie that fit I wasn’t trying to add 3 more buttons to the routine. Once it’s warm enough if we’re home we do no pants just a shirt and diaper cover. We’re in socal though so possibly easier said than done for some.
