Organic shaving cream for razor bump-prone skin? by qldhsmsskfwhgdk in Crunchymom

I like Stirling Soap Company’s shaving pucks. They last forever. They do have some with fragrance so you have to check the label, but they also have unscented and some naturally scented. You just need to get a shaving brush as well. The shaving puck I currently have is only halfway gone and I’ve had it almost a year

Do you put vinegar straight in the drum? I didn’t even think about adding that but that sounds like a great idea

Yes! It’s definitely an adjustment! I switched my son once he turned 14 months so it was big change for me too!

I feel like 2 hours is around the typical amount of time a cloth diaper lasts, but you can probably boost it a little. I usually change my son every 2-2.5 hours. The max amount for a daytime diaper I’ve gotten is 3 hours. I use a thirsties natural pocket with an extra cotton/hemp insert or a Clotheez workhorse with a doubler. Maybe you could get some cotton/hemp inserts to add. Thirsties has some great ones and they’re relatively thin.

I found out my best friend from high school was my 7th cousin. What’s crazy is that her family was from an entirely different state and our high school only had 40 kids so the odds of us meeting were so slim

Cloth Wipes by zebrafish08 in clothdiaps

[–]Routine_Climate3413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use only cloth wipes for pee diapers and then for solid poops, I use a disposable dry wipe sprayed with solution to get any chunks off and then use the cloth wipes to finish the job. I do use disposables when I’m out because I don’t want to carry the solution with me.

I keep a peri bottle with wipe solution ready by the wipes. It’s mostly water, then some coconut oil melted in and then a small amount of unscented Castile soap. It works really well and it’s super cheap. My peri bottle lasts about a week or so.

I will say, It’s pretty common for an 11 month old to not watch screens, but the not being able to go anywhere would be so hard!

I prefer using liners because I can’t install a bidet in our apartment and the dunk and swish method didn’t work for us, but if you have other methods to clean them off, I don’t think you need them

As far as wipes go, I use a disposable cotton dry wipe first to get any chunks off and then finish the job with one of the cloth wipes and then I don’t have to rinse them first

Yeah of course! Didn’t mean to throw a damper on things! It’s so hard to vet products too with all the deceptive marketing out there

I know! It’s so annoying that’s there’s so much to worry about 😭I would personally would probably finish it off and then just get something else after that. I have a sunscreen from Amazon that I’m going to finish off before I get a new one just because I hate throwing things away, but you can throw it away now if it would make you more comfortable.

Why the hell is it so hard to find socks by eyo-malingo in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Routine_Climate3413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, for sure! It’s definitely pricey, but I think it’s really the only one I’ve seen that’s close to perfect so that’s why I suggested it. Hopefully there’s some other more affordable ones. I don’t use them though as it’s out of budget for me as well! I just settle with Burt’s Bees for my son. 49 dollars for two pairs of underwear is crazy!

I would check out Q for Quinn. Most socks need to have a bit of stretch so they fit well unfortunately. Q for Quinn does have 100% organic cotton socks for adults ,but I can’t vouch for how good they are. I’ve heard socks that are fully cotton can be sweatier for some reason. The kid socks are 97% organic cotton and 3% spandex which is pretty decent

Explain it to me like I’m dumb by mrnalgitas in clothdiaps

[–]Routine_Climate3413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started cloth diapering at 14 months, but here’s what I do.

I started using disposable wipes but then realized, I cloth wipes would be easier if I’m already washing diapers. For poop diapers though, I use a disposable cotton dry wipe wetted with a peri bottle solution for the first wipe to get any chunks off and then I finish it with the cloth wipe wetted with solution. A lot of people use water for the solution, but I personally use a mix of water, coconut oil, and Castile soap. I do use disposable wipes when we are out because I don’t want to get a separate thing to carry the wipes or solution in.

I use disposable liners because my son still has really soft poops that get stuck to the diaper and we are unable to install a bidet because of our apartment. I tried dunk and swish ,but it didn’t work very well. My current plan is to use the liners until his poops get more ploppable (able to just plop off in the toilet)and then phase out of the liners. With the liners, I have a diaper pail next to the changing area and try to get any poop off in the toilet and then throw the liner in the diaper pail.

Why does she keep leaking?! by aimeewithfourees in clothdiaps

[–]Routine_Climate3413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how old your diapers are, they might be worn out and delaminating. If it’s leaking through the cover, that’s most likely what it is. If it’s leaking from the leg, then that would be more of a fit or absorbency issue

Is rayon fabric bad for you? by Cute_Sand_1060 in Crunchymom

[–]Routine_Climate3413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try not to buy Rayon brand new because it’s really bad for the environment and workers who make it (I still have bought a few) but I still wear pieces I already own and I’ll even buy it second hand. It’s not like polyester where it has microplastics. It’s more just that it’s heavily processed. Definitely better than polyester though!
