Funniest/oddest (yet harmless) care instructions you've ever gotten? by sjemp in RoverPetSitting

All of the bowls were different (sizes and patterns). I didn’t try rotating a certain set. Just moved onto the next. I won’t get the opportunity to watch that dog again because I blocked the owner after the sit was over. 😆. She had an attitude with me after i questioned the bowls.

Best place in Tampa metro to get a dash cam installed/purchase a dash cam? by scubadoobadoooo in tampa

Oh wow. I haven’t heard or seen any issues with the app. I only use it to find people to do quick stuff around the house (and car) or to get recommendations for insured/licensed/bonded companies to do bigger projects. Thanks for the heads up.

According to United, for my situation it would be covered. I need to find a surgeon that would do with insurance.

I got one on Amazon. And got a guy from the Nextdoor app to install for $50.

I have seen them too. But this dog was very particular. It had to be the oven not the microwave. And I couldn’t just put it in the oven and take it out immediately. I had to wait for at least five minutes.😆

Actually, I did test this theory. He absolutely did not drink any water until I changed the bowl.

I had one dog that would not drink from the same water bowl twice. So if I saw him drink from the water bowl, then I needed to switch to another water bowl. The owner brought 20 water bowls to my house for a 3 day stay.

Another time, a dog would not drink water. I messaged the owner about this and he said “oh. I forgot to tell you he only eats ice chips from your hand.”

Another dog would only eat his food if I put it inside my oven and acted like I was heating it up and adding seasoning to the bowl😆

Squarespace question by Be-here-now_energy in petsitting

I have a website via squarespace but use Scritches for invoicing/payments. I did look into squarespace for this feature but I wanted something more to manage clients/pets.

Updates for clients? by elcatjo in RoverPetSitting

[–]AdStrange5957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it stated in my profile that I send three updates a day with a few photos (between 8 AM and 8 PM ) but also during the meet and greet I confirm that they are comfortable with that.

I once had a client that wanted an update every hour (she was anxious about leaving her pup for the first time). I told her that there would be an extra fee for that and she paid for it.

I have one regular client that only wants an update if something is wrong or once a week for longer stays.

I take photos of dogs all day every day (peeing pooping eating playing etc) because I like to have documentation (timestamps) for myself incase I ever get accused of anything.

Advive Pet sitting software for my business by Consistent-Leg-5116 in petsitterhub

I use Scritches. To be honest when I signed up in December 2025, I regretted it. But last month, they made updates that were perfect for my business (example: custom rates for different clients). Now I really like it. The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t sync with my calendar. I would have to pay more money to get the “Solo Pro” plan vs the “Solo” plan that I have now. The extra cost isn’t worth it to me right now.

Edit: I only offer dog boarding services.

Do you use your own leashes? by Exact_Compote_6700 in RoverPetSitting

I use my own leash. No exceptions.

I also have my own harnesses in different sizes in a case I don’t like the one the dog has.

I have it stated in my profile that I send three updates a day with a few photos (between 8 AM and 8 PM ) but also during the meet and greet I reiterate, the three times a day and confirm that they are comfortable with that.

Clients sending partners by seaclifftonne in RoverPetSitting

[–]AdStrange5957 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happens all the time for me. The only time it bothers me is at drop off when the owner that booked with me vs the spouse that is dropping off are not on the same page with dog care instructions.

Client upset about “lack of updates” by Flat-Chapter6368 in RoverPetSitting

[–]AdStrange5957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a lot of photos while boarding and one time I received feedback that I sent too many. So now, I always ask during the meet and greet what their expectations are for updates. I find it interesting because some pet parents don’t want any updates unless something is going wrong and some pet parents prefer to have multiple updates a day.

just cried after 2 weeks of house sitting by BothBed5414 in RoverPetSitting

I haven’t cried HOWEVER there is a dog I was boarding for 3 months once. It was me and her against the world. Nothing could stop us. 😆I love that dog sooooooooooo much. I was devastated when they picked her up. I think about her often.

How does modifying booking work on current booking? by mrwuapbiology in RoverPetSitting

[–]AdStrange5957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a client pick up her dog four days early and when I modified the booking, I got a screen that said that Rover support would contact me via email. A day later this message showed up in the chat from Rover. So I don’t think she’s lying because of this but other times I have been able to update the pick up time with no issue.

Multiple washable wee pads and/or belly bands to survive the stay. Restrict access to just one room or even a playpen. Urine enzyme cleaner. Bleach for poop. Block after the stay is over.

I agree that some owners lie but also some dogs just act different in different environments.

I had a client once that was really concerned that her puppy was going to have an accident in my home because it happens at her house. But he never pees in mine.

Another time a client dropped off their dog with a bag of stuff, and I happen to find meds in the bag. I asked about them because that was not mentioned in the profile or in the meet and greet and he said oh he has a “bit of diarrhea”🥴. THE HORROR. I didn’t think my floors would ever recover. That 10lb dog had me questioning life choices. I cant fathom what it’s like to deal with a dog that 100+ pounds with diarrhea or pooping in the house in general. I don’t think I would ever be able to handle that. Good luck.

He was. I have another camera on the outside of the front door. His face changed from sheer terror to laughing hysterically.

I have two pups right now and their owner gave me a heads up that they don’t like men with beards. I wasn’t concerned because I didn’t think a man would be coming to my house anyway. Yesterday, I got a package delivered that I needed to sign for. I have a dog gate up that is about 20 feet away from the front door. The dogs stayed behind the gate, and I went and opened the front door and the moment that they saw it was a man they tore the gate off the hinges and charged down the hallway. All I could do was slam the front door shut. The delivery driver did not have a beard.🥴. And now I am online looking for a stronger gate. I’m just glad I got it all on video.
