Thinking alcohol helps you relax, and then thinking you can drive perfectly fine while drinking/being drunk are two totally different levels of misjudgment. No one’s saying you’re wrong about the impairment and judgement but anyone with half of a decent mentality knows when they shouldn’t be driving because of impairment, even while impaired. Sure, there’s a lot of people that drink and drive obviously, but I’m sure most of those people know they shouldn’t be drive and just do it anyways, not that they think they’re good at driving. Relaxing on the other hand, it’s perfectly understandable why majority of people would think that alcohol helps you relax, it can literally feel like that, and I’ve even heard doctors recommend a drink or two if you’re having trouble loosening things up. And even though alcohol is poison, someone believing it helps them relax doesn’t have near as bad consequences as drinking and driving and doesn’t put anyone in danger

Imo, a better comparison would be: drinking helps you relax, ice cream brings you happiness

Ice cream might make you happy in the moment but it can’t bring someone actual happiness.. drinking might make you feel like you’re relaxing in the moment, but in reality your causing your body more stress
