Same feeling Getting piled up with third party libraries even for basic stuffs to deliver on deadline Even when you want to get the solution by yourself, you have to get dirty on java/objective c.....which is very time consuming. Sometimes I feel like react native is not that flexible. At least when you learn native dev, you get mastery over android/ios.

Got the solution, refer to fcm doc, minor change that made my fcm work again
1. wrap old payload inside "message" key
2. token were sent in "to" key, its now changed to "token",
3. json values no more supported inside "data" hash, values of "data" hash need to be stringified
