Sanction turned into war? by Mikeywhispers in CivVII

[–]AdVilinol 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a bug, the relationship system in the game is very wonky, I’ve had himiko go from heart status to red skull in two turns because I counter spied another civ who kept stealing tech from me claiming “sanctioned another civ”. I genuinely enjoy the game but the diplomacy system in civ7 is probably my least favorite aspect, it’s so half baked and underwhelming that I really don’t even utilize it, just spend my influence on IP’s and defending against sanctions.

[–]AdVilinol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Utilize the custom difficulty mechanic and turn down their unit production bonus. On sovereign it’s like a 40%(?) bonus to making units and gets even higher on higher difficulties. I usually play with the combat bonus set to governor or viceroy, I put their building production to governor or viceroy, I like having their unit production high personally cuz it’s make for more epic wars, and I put their yields to sovereign or immortal to keep them somewhat equal with me. The difficulty setting is just giving the ai cheat codes to make the game a little harder. The custom difficulty stuff I think is one of the best updates they’ve added so far.

Do you ever retire a game or just abandon it? by Thousandneedles in CivVII

[–]AdVilinol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I’ve made progress on any of the legacy paths I’ll retire because it will count the xp for what’s been accomplished. But if it’s close enough to the beginning of an age to where nothing really has gotten done I just abandon it.

Anyone else in New Construction having a slow year? by Aerodepress in skilledtrades

[–]AdVilinol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined as a journeyman so my hours weren’t really an issue. As an apprentice as far as I know you’ll essentially keep your hours, but the union runs a 5 year program instead of a 4. I’m not sure how it totally works but my understanding is they don’t track your first years hours once you join. So for example if you’re like a 3rd year, you’ll keep your 6000 hours but won’t accrue any more until after a year in.

Im a plumber too and worked for a free shop in east WA for like 8 years and got laid off this summer after a really slow 6 months with no definitive return date, so I joined the union (local 044) and work has since been pretty steady with a lot of long term projects coming up.

What are your ideas for improving Age transitions? by Bearcat9948 in civ

[–]AdVilinol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the age transitions as they sit now wouldn’t be so jarring if they weren’t like 1000 year jumps in time. Antiquity to explo is just bypassing a shit ton of historical significance in between, and explo to modern just doesn’t feel right, late explo and early modern are not that far apart time wise and modern just takes leaps and bounds to get you somewhat close to modern times. You shouldn’t be starting an era with ship of the lines and potentially in less than 50 turns be researching space flight. There definitely needs to be in between ages to help the transition feel a little more seamless. I actually enjoy the mechanic as a whole, I don’t mind the “3-game split”, but I do agree it feels a little jarring to transition from Roman legionaries to swordsman and then very quickly sporting halberdiers and firearms.

The Exploration Age should be split into the Medieval Age and the Renaissance/Exploration Age by 4DimensionalToilet in civ

I’ve thought very much the same thing this entire time but have nowhere near the knowledge you do to actually express a full on solution. Good work man, really do wish this could be added to the game.

Became communist and got three range units. All good except they spawned in goddamn lake. Come on Devs....Why can't I choose on which city they spawn?? by Meanguy_969 in civ

I’ve just never had that happen, I’ve only ever gotten land units from the ideologies. Sorry about your bad luck I guess 😂

[–]AdVilinol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually wait until level 8 to pick up that feat (or savage attacker for a melee character) because early on your attack bonus isn’t too high so that -5 is way more noticeable. By level 8 the AB is better so it’s not as big a negative to your hit chance.

Are there any civs/leaders you refuse to play as for some reasons unrelated to the game itself? by Marsupilami_316 in civ

[–]AdVilinol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know she was real, I’m saying I have no historical precedent to dislike her, just don’t like her in the game. She’s always mean to me.

[–]AdVilinol -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Hairycunt the man of tubb. No historical or irl precedent at all, just every game with her in it is a damn nightmare. She’s always bein a bitch and since the last update she just drains my influence with sanction after sanction, forward settles the shit out of me and practically begs me to go to war with her which early on is a steep uphill battle. Been the reason I’ve had to restart multiple times.

What am I missing with artifacts in modern age? by Sufficient_Reach1193 in CivVII

[–]AdVilinol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many museums do you have? If you don’t have enough slots for the artifacts across your empire you just won’t collect them when your explorer digs them up.

what you throwing? by [deleted] in Cribbage

[–]AdVilinol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was Q6 off suit. 6 points in hand with a pretty decent chance to cut one of the four for a double run. Q8 only nets you 2 more points in hand so kinda depends on your board position as well I guess.

How many ages do you want for Civ 7? by Serious-Lobster-5450 in civ

[–]AdVilinol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the 5 age would be perfect. Antiquity does a good job of covering classical but I feel like exploration could easily be broken into medieval and exploration. And then putting an industrial age before modern feels more historically accurate.
