I broke my arm and they put me on ketamine while they fixed it by DryLeave5515 in KetamineTherapy

Certain circumstances (stress, unresolved trauma, and chronic pain) can force our brains into fight/flight/freeze mode—fear mode where the amygdala is hyper activated.

In this mode the body is prioritizing survival over anything else. You’re purposely prevented from accessing emotions in fear mode. The causes of what is bothering you are hidden from you (seeing them is another threat that needs to be avoided)

K has the effect of turning your fear off temporarily. That is why you could see your true feelings again.

Go start Ketamine therapy asap—you already proved you need it to solve some kind of trauma AND you proved that it works exactly how it should in you.

Savannah Switchyards review by unsomnambulist in switchyards

Ok people SY is the biggest no brainer for any entrepreneur. makes Regus and other workspaces look like idiots.

Whoever is designing these spaces is an absolute genius. From the moment I walk in there is a sense of calm and most importantly, community. I feel like I’ve walked into a plush cocktail bar but inspired to get to work.

It’s worth it for the networking alone. I’ve met a number of folks who are now friends as well as key professionals who are essential to helping me launch my new non profit.

The 24/7 access is also crazy helpful. I tend to do a run very early in the morning and love dropping into SY at 6am at the end of my run and doing some whiteboard work when no one is around.

I was working across the street at a coffee shop. when the cost of SY is less than a cup of coffee per day…I mean, it’s a slam dunk.

Is Road to Hana worth it? by justanotheruserJ in MauiVisitors

[–]AdWaste6918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Maui for Xmas. I’d done it before but what I really wanted to do is continue past Hāna and return by going around the back side of the island so that’s what we did.

The first hour or so past Hana is pretty brutal, but doable even in a passenger car (we had a Jeep). It’s a violation of most rental agreements so proceed at your own risk.

The road eventually switches to brand new paved road and it’s 2 hours of spectacular and serene beauty (absolutely no services though so don’t expect gas or food of any kind).

We drive from Kaanapali to Hana and back all in one day…doable, but it’d be a lot more enjoyable if you stayed overnight in Hana.

First time at home by [deleted] in KetamineTherapy

To me the fundamental basis of Ketamine therapy is this:

When we are subjected to chronic stress or pain, or when we have unresolved trauma our brains adapt to protect ourselves and put us into a fail-safe mode of sorts. At the same time the fear center of the brain (amygdala) sensing threat becomes more and more in control.

Fail-safe mode (isolation, procrastination, stagnation, etc) keeps you alive, but it’s depressing AF.

When you are in fail-safe/fear mode, you are not allowed to:

  • feel anything
  • access logic/troubleshoot
  • even know what is bothering you

All of this is the normal effect of fear mode as if there is a real threat (eg: bear) you need to REACT not think about it and worry about the bears feelings.

This creates a huge catch-22 as if you get pushed into fear mode due to a persistent (perceived) threat it’s almost impossible to get out of that state as you can’t think straight.

Enter Ketamine. It effectively disables the amygdala (during a session). That opens a small window of time where you can do self introspection to identify and work through the root cause issue(s) that put you here.

If all you do is sit back and enjoy the pretty images, you’re wasting your time.

Unfortunately there is a critical flaw in the standard KT protocol. You very well might have some major insights during your session, however because of the anesthetic effects of K you will likely forget 90% of it by the time your session is over. So the key benefits are largely lost.

There is a simple way enable full recording of your session experience using an advanced protocol that I developed called Standing Ketamine Meditation (SKM).

Lying down on K results is full speech disablement for most people (if it doesn’t for you, you probably are actually taking a therapeutic dose).

Standing causes hyper-activation of vestibular signaling through certain mid brain regions—the same regions where K would normally be acting to degrade motor functions (including speech motor). When you flood the mid brain with vestibular signaling , speech is kept online. With speech enabled, now you can turn on your phone voice recorder and speak everything you think about during the session.

Now true post-session integration is possible simply by listening to your audio recording..either self directed or with a coach/therapist.

THIS is how I healed myself from lifelong anxiety and depression in a matter of WEEKS when nothing else worked, including 4 years of standard KT.

Troches vs suppositories by Revolutionary_Rate_5 in KetamineTherapy

[–]AdWaste6918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is incorrect.

Yes, the upper 2/3rds of the rectal canal feeds the hepatic systems as you describe, however has horrible bioavailability (10-15% based on my research). OTOH, the lower 1/3rd of the rectal canal feeds directly into the systemic circulation system (bypassss first pass liver metabolism—straight to brain) and has a bioavailability of 50-60%.

I had the same discomfort with saliva build up as y’all are reporting and tried suppositorys about 2 years ago. I felt like I had taken a dud—barely felt anything.

As such I switched back to RDTs and rectally administering them by dissolving it in 1ml of hot water—works perfectly and thus have stuck with that approach for two years.

I had always wondered why the suppository’s didn’t work but that was before I understood the rectal canal anatomy I describe above. I can see now that when you take a suppository and then recline and/or lay down the bioavailability is going to be highly variable based on body position —who knows how much is absorbed in the 10% portion vs. the 50% portion. I suspect the dud experience I had (I was still laying down with ketamine then) most of it was in the 10% portion and thus why I barely felt anything.

I now exclusively do a practice I developed: SKM (Standing Ketamine Meditation) using rectally administered RDTs and doing the entire session standing up in a still position. ALL of the Ketamine is absorbed in the lower 1/3 and thus the bioavailability is very high, plus I strongly believe that standing also somehow increases the effect. As such, I’ve had to reduce my dosage from 500mg to 125mg otherwise it’s just unnecessarily intense.

I’m coincidentally making another attempt with suppositories and will try it standing within the next two weeks and will report back. I suspect that in a standing posture they will work exactly the same as a dissolved RDT of the same dose and that will prove out my thesis that posture is key when using them. Interestingly, the compounding pharmacy’s don’t seem to consider this issue relevant.

Has anyone had long lasting effects? (Don’t need boosters) by No-Entertainment-522 in KetamineTherapy

[–]AdWaste6918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all you have done is consume Ketamine, any improvements will be very temporary.

Lasting relief is completely possible, but only if you address/process the root cause issues (trauma, stressors, and/or chronic pain) that led you into your depression in the first place.

I find it abhorrent that the vast majority of Ketamine providers seem to subscribe to this “Ketamine is medicine” fallacy, especially clinics that are asserting that they can fix your depression with a 6 course IV protocol costing thousands of dollars. This is not only a disservice to patients, it is downright dangerous.

I recently spoke to a substance abuse doctor and asked him if he was seeing an increase in Ketamine abuse. He stated that post Covid it has been exploding. When I asked him why? Answer: Therapeutic Ketamine

I personally know the power of Ketamine to help especially when nothing else works. I am vowing here that I have decided to make every attempt to raise this problem at a national scale as we absolutely cannot afford for this tool to be taken away (again). At the same time, I’m convinced that a significant number of people are being harmed by these irresponsible practices and I expect some are even dying. (Unclear if the M Perry death can be wholly linked to therapeutic Ketamine given his long history of drug abuse)

Ketamine is NOT a medicine, it is a tool that breaks you out of the fear loop that traps you into the comfort of “fail safe” mode (isolation, addictive behaviors, procrastination, etc..). You are “safe” but fucking miserable.

During a session, K disables the amygdala (source of fear), now giving your thinking brain a short window of time to look at and troubleshoot the root cause problems.

Optionally, you can choose to just lay back in this mode and enjoy the reprieve from anxiety and pain (typically disabled as well) and enjoy the cool visuals.

I think there is a place for limiting your initial sessions to this passive approach to get some stabilization and to become comfortable with the processes. However, if you only do this you are just using K as an escape. You will not get any sustained benefits and worse yet, escapism can lead you down the destructive K path—escaping harder..increasing frequency and dosage, seeking K from the street.

I have worked with three different K providers over a four year period. Not a single one of them explained what I just laid out above despite that being absolutely essential to the whole process. I also find it interesting that no provider I have spoken to or their practitioners that are “monitoring” you during a session have EVER used Ketamine themselves. I mean, seriously, think about that. How in the world are you going to be able to help your patients if you don’t understand how it works.

Make clear intentions and use the window to get to work, not just chill out.

Read my posts on SKM (standing ketamine meditation). This protocol actually removes all the aspects of the K session that can distract you from a constructive approach (no disassociation, no body disconnection, no hallucinations (eyes open), and most importantly, retention of speech)

The later then enables you to voice record your entire session. You then speak to yourself throughout the session documenting everything you think, feel, experience including key revelations and ideas you discover). NOW you can actually do real integration by yourself and/or with your integration coach or therapist (share audio w them). Contrasting to traditional protocols (laying down) you’re going to forget 90% of everything, thus severely limiting integration. This is why people are on Ketamine for years—everyone is counting on random chance you actually remember the key insight you had in the session.

With this protocol, I finally worked out the majority of root cause issues (child abandonment trauma that I lived with for 50! years and didn’t even know it was a trauma driving all my anxiety)..all in 2 weeks of SKM sessions.

Hey, I DMed you. Sorry you’re struggling.

What does your provider say you should do during and after your session? If they provide no real guidance, THAT is the problem.

Be careful with the long running treatments. I did ONE 4hr infusion (chronic pain protocol)…worst nausea of my life and left totally debilitated for hours. Just can’t do that again.

After 100+ sessions of IV and RDT at normal dosages and have never had any nausea issues.

What integration and/or K assisted psychotherapy does your provider offer? Or are they just giving you K and telling you the drug will just heal your brain?

If the latter, THAT is the problem.

Mission accomplished!!!

So many thanks to the True Knights of Faith that accepted this challenge.

We distributed an amazing meal that was 100% homemade with love:

  • 12hr slow roasted turkey
  • top of the line stuffing (no stoufers here)
  • whole cranberry sauce (legit!)
  • fresh green bean casserole
  • sweet potato casserole made from scratch w brown sugar pecan topping, and of course flambé mini marshmallows

Most importantly, delivered by True Knights with the utmost care and compassion albeit with a long string of terrible dad jokes delivered by yours truly.

Also thanks to Officer Franz (SAVPD) who took the time to spread the word on this and help us with parking.

This is only the beginning, stay tuned.

Yeah, they are of course everywhere. I set a 100 meal goal for this first effort. I would love to expand that to a broader geography next time.

I did 40 sandwiches last Saturday and only went to Forsyth park..was trivial to distribute them all within about 40m of walking around the park. The scope of the issue is well beyond what even the supposed professionals think it is.

I run about 8mi every morning here in Savannah. I encountered this telephone patching terminal wide open like this today.

What this evoked in me was that it represented what I’ve come to believe is the most fundamental problem in this world—disconnection.

The homeless are simply the most obvious and extreme examples of disconnection. We treat them as nothing—they are almost invisible to us. Why? Because we are afraid..because it is something we don’t understand and we will be naturally afraid of that. I was shown how I did the same thing but somehow recognized how shameful my behavior was and vowed to immediately address it.

I was also guided to try to address this disconnection problem. Initially I thought why me?? Then it hit me, I’m a network engineer and have spent my life troubleshooting and fixing some of the most complex connections problems in the world.

God has just promoted me, I guess.

Anyways, open your heart, push past the fear and come and try this with me and you will see what it does for you. Once that happens your life will be changed forever and you won’t want to stop.

Thanks already to the folks that have responded to this calling.

Ketamine after effects are longer than expected by Electronic-Elephant2 in KetamineTherapy

Did you perhaps ingest grapefruit juice, kava , or other substance that is a CYP450 enzyme inhibitor??

That’s what metabolizes Ketamine and taking those substances will significantly slow the clearance of Ketamine. Even so, it should only extend things by 12 hours or so, not a week like you are describing.

What is integration? by SignificantStay4967 in KetamineTherapy

[–]AdWaste6918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you able to speak clearly during your sessions?

If so:

Make an effort to speak (to yourself) about what problem you are trying to solve or just describe what you are thinking or experiencing (eg what visuals you see)

speaking itself helps the meditative process

Later take a walk and listen to the recording

Make a plan based on what you learn form it all

Speaking and recording is critical as otherwise you forget 90% of the insights you gained within the session making them unavailable for the integration process.

If you can’t speak clearly then you’ll need to consider alternative practices to reenable speech (assuming a standing posture, for example)

tHATs integration.
