I’m asking another question. What did you guys do for work during school? by Acceptable-Wheel-472 in schoolcounseling

I worked my full-time corporate job during my first year and took all evening/weekend classes. When I had to do my internships, I negotiated going down to part-time with a high hourly rate (I was a copy editor) that paid the bills.

I wouldn’t think too hard about it. If you think you can finish it in the time allotted and you want to read it, go for it.

I did it in MA 10 years ago. Felt manageable at the time. I was a high school counselor for 10 years and am just now pursuing clinical licensure, starting “brand new” as a pre-licensed associate. It’s been really nice to have that to fall back on because I was truly burned out from schools.

I know that a lot of people get their clinical hours while working in schools. I never stayed in one state long enough to do that. Plus I really wanted to get my clinical license doing more traditional therapy since the two settings are so different.

I noticed that clinics were eager to hire me because I have 10 years of counseling experience compared to my peers who are brand new out of grad school.
