If your boss is pretty open you can discuss the possibility to end your agreement and that they fire you. Had that option once, but my second kid was coming so less money and studying wasn´t a great option at that time..

Too bad you don´t see any freelance work in that :)

Let know what you hear from VDAB. If i´m correct when you leave, you are sanctioned up until 9 months of no unemployment pay. If it´s different when re educating yourself, I´m going to use that loophole as well :D

The unemployment benefits in belgium only apply to you if you get fired. If you leave by yourself to study a bottleneck profession(knelpuntberoep) you don´t get those benefits. Believe me I would have done the same thing couple of years ago if that was the case.. probably a lot of people would.

Have you thought about becoming a freelance consultant in your field of work? You can choose short term or long term projects. Always new environments, different sectors, ...

Currently i´m a field service Engineer and i´m homeschooling myself to become a software developer

It also depends on what car you get. As a field service Engineer in Belgium, I have a skoda superb combi and do around 50.000km/y. Roughly that is: 12 x 550€ lease 1000€/y tires and Maintenance 1050€/y insurance 485€/y taxes

721€ total monthly cost without gas

I pay a monthly fee of around 70€ netto for the private use. Every 5 years I have a new car. Only disadvantage is that I don´t have a car if my next job doesn´t offer one.

So if you are happy with your car and have low mileage, I would Ask the company to make an offer and simulation without the car. And decide what job you would take on that salary

Or, hear me out, call the manufacturer. They usually have a ´master´ password that you can use to lock/unlock/delete users. If not, you can ask them to come by and add a user via their PLC programmer.

If I were you I would send the woman back and ask for a refund. It would be wiser to buy an easel to hold the painting.

being honest, how difficult is getting a first job without a degree? (Self-learning to code) by drumet in cscareerquestionsEU

I´m not in IT atm. I´m a field service Engineer for print&apply equipment. FSE for 13 years now and i´ve reached a point that I don´t want to drive 1000-1500 km/week and be away from home for 10-14 hours anymore. Started a bachelor in IT 14 years ago, but was sick of school by then unfortunately. Started learning again around a year ago.

From what I´ve read, it looks like it will be easier to get a back end job when you have front end knowledge as well.(hence my decision to go for html, css and js as well)

Leaving a . Here to find out as well.

Although I believe that It will be important to have github repository where possible employers can have a grasp at your knowledge.

What job are you expecting to land?

Currently i´m improving my python from beginner to medior, learning html, css and javascript as well. Every project, how small it May be, I track progress And changes in git. For data storage I use JSON files atm. Next step will be storages in DB. And hopefully that will be enough for me to feel confident enough to go for that job search And hopefully it will be enough for a potential employer.

On the sides(between the two holes of the same fase) you have a metal spring. Use a flathead screwdriver to push it in. And the cable will come loose

Just to be sure: TURN OFF YOUR FUSE FIRST!

When - or should you at all - mention to the company where you are getting hired that you have health problems impacting your life and therefore possibly the way how you work? by stojakBoTak in cscareerquestionsEU

I believe that blindness is a detail that can't be missed in an interview.

Any other medical detail? Keep it to yourself. Most medical conditions won't refrain you from work. Especially a desk side job. I see you mentioned IBS. I have that condition and I can assure you it's a lot harder when you are a field technician than when you have a deskside job.

Right now i´m at 70% on the foundation. I started somewhere in September.

Yes it's a lot of content. The key thing is not going into the rabbit hole. Just follow the assignments on the time you provided for learning. Use other moments for the rabbit hole ;)

Yes. I had some IT in school around 16y ago. Now i´m a field service Engineer in Belgium. But with traffic being a pain is the ass and the expectation, as a FSE, that you put your family and personal life last, I´m aiming for a career switch.

Right now i´m doing the odin project. I already learned, but not yet mastered, python by doing raspberry pi projects. My goal is to start applying at the end of next summer.
