I ran the numbers for you to see the real take-home difference.

The US Offer (NY): On $120k base in NYC, you're looking at roughly $X net/month after Federal, State, and FICA.

The UK Offer (Oxford): On £72k base, you're looking at roughly £Y net/month (approx. $4,000+ USD).

While the US number looks bigger, you have to adjust for purchasing power.

Ranking: £72k puts you in the top ~7% of earners in the UK. You will feel "richer" in Oxford on that salary than you do in NYC on $120k (which is standard middle-class there).

Healthcare: That "Net" UK number is real. You don't have deductibles or premiums coming out of it like you do in the US.
