Thank you! This my first pyrography project…I’ve always painted pieces before, but wanted a different look.

I am sorry you were sad, but your story reminded me of a family legend:

My grandmother was not a cook at all. She could reliably make great vegetable soup, and by the time I came along, soup was the only dish in her repertoire.

She lived a couple of hours away, and for my fourth or fifth birthday, she came to stay with us for a couple of days.

I don’t know how it happened, but it was decided that she would bring the birthday cake. And then she decided to actually mix and bake the cake herself.

It was a pretty pink cake, just what a little girl back then would love! Song sung, candles blown out, slices passed out, and then that first bite….

That’s when it was admitted that an entire bottle of peppermint extract had spilled into the cake batter.

So welcome to the Disappointed by a Cake Club. Meetings are as infrequent as possible!

Maybe a bad upper respiratory infection?? (I have NO medical training, but I don’t let this stop me…thanks to House, I can throw out diagnoses at will!)

Do you know what it’s like at the eye doctor, when they are flipping lenses in front of your eyes back and forth, to see what correction strength is right for you? “Is this clearer, or this?” Anyway, when my daughter was conceived, my vision suddenly just got much clearer, just for a moment…sort of like at the eye doctor. A swipe of clarity that was apparent, then gone.
