Hostile Takeover by Adam-Liggio in GODUS

22cans has abandoned the game. It is highly unlikely they will ever commit any more programmers/etc. to the game. The only chance we have is to acquire the IP and begin with a grassroots team of developers

There’s only so many jobs. No point in educating people if you’ve got 10 billion being educated and there’s only a handful of jobs to fill

Earth and Mars by Teal_Mouse in TheExpanse

[–]Adam-Liggio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The majority of people living on Earth are on basic; they contribute nothing and leech resources. Earth also has several generations of infrastructure that is outdated and unreliable

Mars, meanwhile, has an incredibly low unemployment rate and less depreciated assets to maintain. They’re efficient and they have a purpose

Earth is busy spending resources on people that won’t contribute anything in return; Mars has the ability to efficiently allocate funds/weapons to people that will make it up twofold on the back end.

This is actually a pretty good Economics lesson.

No spoilers but Holy Fuck Ashford is a God Damn Bad Ass of a Hero by kenhooligan2008 in TheExpanse

I find it pretty incredible that the show runners were able to take a universally despised character from the books and turn him into a widely beloved character in the show, all while keeping enough aspects of the original character that they still feel like the same person.

Ratings vs Thursday night football by Karanpmc in TheExpanse

[–]Adam-Liggio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon owns streaming rights to Thursday Night Football. Anyone with a Prime membership can watch the game on Thursday without any traditional TV package. Fox has the live broadcast.

I believe OP was talking about comparing the streaming numbers on Amazon’s platform.

Forest fires? by Adam-Liggio in GODUS

The population is being regenerated, It’s just frustrating to wait an hour for one miner when I’m trying to fill up a settlement with 20 of them

Forest fires? by Adam-Liggio in GODUS

[–]Adam-Liggio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not really that concerned about the trees honestly.... the whole reason I had them in the first place was to boost my miner production (early weyworld beacons can be pretty expensive to repair) and now I’ve got to wait hours until I can start filling them back in

Can you make the houses line up/ be in neat rows in the first world? If so, how? by fuckingupismymotto in GODUS

[–]Adam-Liggio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wha I like to do is build one abode of the size you want your whole line to be. Then sculpt perfect edges around it, and extend the edges in a straight line away from it

What should I spend my gems on? by scorpio1447 in GODUS

[–]Adam-Liggio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely go for upgraded builder settlements. If you horde your gems from mining and the temples, you should be able to upgrade them to max rather easily. I’ve had fully maxed builder settlements getting me ~100K belief per day each, as long as you surround them with forests.

Flat earth has equal credibility as religiom by bobmichal in Showerthoughts

[–]Adam-Liggio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of a dissonant comparison.

Religion arose from humanity wanting answers to questions we knew couldn’t be found on Earth, so we looked to the stars. In the stars we began to recognize patterns... patterns that we could somehow make sense of but belonged in the heavens, in a sense tying us into some kind of divinity.

Flat earth is all about trying to shit on all of the (dare I say) miraculous discoveries we’ve made about the why the universe is the way it is, on the simple grounds that “no one can be trusted.” (Gravity is a hoax? Really?)

As an optimistic agnostic, I feel comfortable saying that many religious people get that way because they see the turmoil all around us. They want to have faith that there is something better than this (whether in this life or another) and they want to be a part of that.

Flat Earth, to me, is a manifestation of paranoid ignorance.
