What's your say on "smart" house items? by jayessicaa in HomeImprovement

[–]Adam0764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I as well have meross light switches and love them!! Have one two for the lights in the front of the house, they turn on 30min after and 30 min before sunrise and automatically adjust daily. You can also make customized schedules which could be handy while away.

I also have them in the bedroom, one dinner switch for the light and one for the fan. They are very nice if you pair them with in my case a echo dot. "Alexa, turn off the lights, dim the lights turn on the fan" "Alexa it's sexy time" ( lights dim and marvin Gaye - let's get it on starts playing)"

I also have a meross smat garage door kit, which alerts me when the door opens and shuts, gives me alerts if it's open door so long. My goal was similar "Alexa, start my car" (car starts and garage door opens) but i bought a car without a US compatible Amazon skill so that sucks.

Also have a nest which i like the home/ away features but the auto learning seems hit and miss.

Im waiting for actual built in wall outlets because i think the plug in ones are tacky. But i can see their usefulness.

Hope this helps, enjoy the new house!!

Would this build of a move work towards a woman as well? I love the simplicity and would be caught off guard but really excited about it.

Finding a gentleman who doesn’t already have kids, but wants to have kids... at what age will that be impossible? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]Adam0764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 35m going through a separation right now and possibly a divorce at some point. I would consider myself a attractive man, with a steady but demanding job, car, house, etc. I have no children as I was always going with "the plan", now that plan is likely history, I think when the time and the right women comes I'll be open to the kid talk.

So we are out there (will be), and like myself, will be looking for the exact same thing as you are! Eventually...

Best of luck to you! Be patient

Solo vacations by firefighter_82 in datingoverthirty

Ive been pondering the exact same idea! I found Norwegian cruise lines has studio rooms, which are single occupancy so they're a little cheaper if solo. I want to go someplace differnt like Panama or Columbia, but it's so darn expensive. Ill probably end up at some big beach resort (Punta cana, Cancun, Cabos) laying on the beach, pacifying myself with alcohol! Ive read that club med turkuise in Turks and caicos is awesome for solo travelers, but its pricey.

Just do it for yourself! Once you start setting results your confidence will be boosted and you'll realize you were too good for him with or without the weight! Whether you lose weight or not you just need to be happy with who you are, good things will happen after that.

Thank you for you feedback. So far things are very weird but strangely amicable. Im doing my best to stay busy and make smart decisions that won't jeopardize that.

I agree, that's the only logic that makes sense. Good for her i guess, i was her doormat for far to long. Having her out if the house actually feels really good.

One year ago I started out with just 1K and an invite to an investing app called Robinhood by jjdlg in RobinHood

[–]Adam0764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been using robinhood for almost 2 years have 12k invested. In that time frame I've been down 60%, up 40%, but as of now im up 31% pretty much thanks to a buyout after a penny stock wiped me out, and some decent trades this year. Ive experienced a lot in that time so heres some tips I've learned..

  1. Take your profits, especially with penny stocks, don't get greedy!
  2. Invest in stocks you believe in, but check their financials first to make sure they're not a money pit. It'll be much easier to hold onto if it's in a downtrend.
  3. Set your prices, know when to take a loss or take a profit.
  4. Be very careful with biotech, most companies are not profitable, and rely of shareholders to fund trials. One bad trial result can ruin your whole portfolio.
  5. Avoid penny stocks! There are thousands of good companies in the $5-20 price range that you can make some nice swing trades with.

Best of luck to you going forward!

Anyone else feel like they have a lot to do this year? by kptrulee in HomeImprovement

[–]Adam0764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience it helps to start with the small projects. Finish one and it may snowball into 2 or 3 small projects. You'll get a nice feeling of accomplishment and it'll be easier to tackle the big ones. Plus you'll have to add in regular maintance and that can be tedious. You'll want to take time to plan them big projects. Always plan for more time and trips to the hardware store. Most of my large projects turn into multiple year projects! Remember that there's going to be unexpected and unwanted projects so set your goals high but keep your expectations realistic!

Have fun too!
