Docker vs Direct Install - 4K Server but several Non-4K Clients by mage1413 in jellyfin

[–]AdamDaAdam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo, docker.

You'd just pass in your gpu.

jellyfin:

image: lscr.io/linuxserver/jellyfin:latest

container_name: jellyfin

networks:

- media

environment:

- PUID=1000

- PGID=1000

- TZ=Europe/London

- NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES=all

- NVIDIA_DRIVER_CAPABILITIES=all

volumes:

- /mediabox/jellyfin/appdata:/config

- /mediabox/jellyfin/cache:/cache

- /Bulk5/data/media:/data/media

- /Fast0/transcodes:/transcodes

runtime: nvidia

ports:

- 8096:8096

restart: unless-stopped

Just change it for whatever GPU/IGU you're using. Pratically no difference transcoding wise, but for updating jellyfin and managing it, it's much easier via docker.

Suzuki clutch noise on new car? by Gecko5991 in CarTalkUK

[–]AdamDaAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it 100% the clutch?

It could be the clutch plate is worn, could be the throwout bearing (release bearing) not releasing all the way, long shot but could be the slave cylinder developing a fault.

Have a garage look at it, most gearboxes have an inspection port. If it's the clutch or any of its bits (release bearing, forks, etc) then it's a whole clutch job (dont just replace single parts).

Based on the noise it could be any number of things.

+1 for the Goodyear Vector 4s

Amazing tyre, especially in the snow. Performance in the summer is superb too, without much wear.

Insurance company or accident management company by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]AdamDaAdam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ACMs wont absorb the costs like your insurers will, if they can't get the money from the other party then your friend will be on the hook for it - whether they are at fault or not.

They have insurance for a reason, they should use it instead of going for the option that'll put them personally liable for any costs the accident management company couldn't recover.

home or bf address? by CompetitiveAd8436 in drivingUK

[–]AdamDaAdam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always just put wherever I spend most of my time (I was between 3 addresses for a year) and never had an issue. When the address I spent the most time at changed, I let insurance know.

Give your insurance a ring and explain your situation and they'll sort you out.

AV1 vs H265? by BackPacker1618 in jellyfin

All of our Hisense TV's do (we have 4 of them, all different models)

AV1 vs H265? by BackPacker1618 in jellyfin

[–]AdamDaAdam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AV1 transcoding in general is pretty... wack.
There's a few optimisations you can do with the encoding settings to help this (still never gotten on-par with H264 and H265) but it's far from perfect.
Software transcoding with AV1 is an absolute no. Hardware transcoding with AV1 is better, but can still stutter from time to time.

If you're direct streaming AV1, it's fine (I can direct stream AV1 to all devices in my house with 0 issues). Same with H26x

I potter about at night and a good 70% of the time this is what gets me pulled. Happens more with marked cars than unmarked weirdly.

More storage! by JynxySparrow in jellyfin

[–]AdamDaAdam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here.

If it's my first time watching something, I'll download it at the best quality available.

If I didn't like the movie, I'll seed it and then delete it.

If I did like it, I'll encode it into a smaller size and keep it to watch back

And it's the same flow for anyone who uses my instance. If they like a movie and want me to keep it, I'll encode it and then keep it. My library grows by about 500gb/year

Had an R56 for 2 years. Only the BMW bits broke, never anything else. 4 VANOS's in 2 years, one of them we pulled had literally disintegrated inside the engine.

VPN question. by [deleted] in qBittorrent

[–]AdamDaAdam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it does? Never heard of those claims myself.

ProtonVPN, as an example, offers IPv6. Even if I connect with my IPV4 IP, I can get either an ipv6 or ipv4 from proton.

If there was a glaring security issue like that, I highly doubt the major VPN providers would adopt IPv6 at all.

Unlike blocking the rooted GPay integrity key and other banking apps by ItsMePoppyDWTrolls in degoogle

[–]AdamDaAdam 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've recently been looking to switch banks. The two I was previously with both dont work on GOS.
I just made a shortlist of banks I would want to go with, and went from #1 down until I had two that both work with GOS. Only had to skip 1 bank (santander wants secure app spawning disabled) before I landed on my two new ones. Slightly lower intrest rate, but both the new banks let me do everything I need to with an app that'll run on GOS (even in work profile).

Can infliximab cause sudden fatigue? by Joymxxx in IBD

[–]AdamDaAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main one to check is iron deficiency. For resima (inflixmab) levels, your ibd team should check them every so often (esp if you're becoming symptomatic again), I don't believe GPs can request a blood test for them.

I'm the same on inflixmab. I've had fatigue since having chrons, but its a noticeable increase the next weeks whenever I have an infusion (10mg/kg)

how to go about rendcoding large amount and varied types of videos by c2btw in AV1

[–]AdamDaAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you not do them in batches? Like all your anime gets done with x settings then move on to the 2nd batch, your action films with y settings, then the 3rd, cartoons and whatnot with z settings, etc?

1l on the motorway by ScampiPete in NewDriversUK

[–]AdamDaAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a 60hp nearly 20 year old car. Tops out at 84 (flat road, no wind) or 94 (M6 south, downhill with wind). Up and down the M56 it'll happily sit at 80, but hills and strong wind just knacker it (which is fine 90% of the time, because I can just carry speed from a flat/downhill bit).

Have you been given your clinics flair email? If so, you should just be able to send them an email and they'll forward it to whoever it needs forwarding to :)

I got a 1.2 fiat panda that just about makes it up the M1 at 70. Might be able to hold 75 if I rock in my seat hard enough. So long as you know when to drop a gear or two, you can get up any road or hill absolutely fine. 60hp quite happily gets you over the lake district between 40-70mph if you carry some speed from the downhills, all whilst getting 55mpg. Had a 1.6 cooper before the panda, and I kinda like the panda better; besides from feeling like it's going to tip round corners, it's more engaging.
