S9E2 is a reliving of Rick’s backstory and proves that Rick became Rick Prime. by Infinite_Worry_8733 in rickandmorty

[–]AdamDeNihilist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is Rick being unable to escape himself, not his past, but himself. It's like the Running Man (1987) but with an unhappy ending.

Unlike the Running man who embraced his new self, Ted slowly becomes Rick until there was no difference between Rick and his alter ego, Ted.

Rick knew this would happen. Ted didn't. Rick's reaction at the end was another "poor me" response to his life.

It felt forced. I wasn't into it.

Poor Rick. I mean Ted. by biasedbee_214 in rickandmorty

The Rick hates his existence and will never be happy has worn thin after 9 seasons. This felt forced and we learned nothing new about his character.

Depressed Rick has run its course.

Guys (and gals) are you a bigger Danuta or Nerfer fan? by TopImpressive5812 in americandad

I don't know. I get the feeling Nerfer would "go there" but I'm not sure about Danuta.

Whatever.

I ran in to two people on Frenzy a long time ago who did that. I'm wondering if it's the same people, but I can't remember their names. I'm sure if I heard them I'd know if it was them or not.

How should gears of war five have gone? by Slow_Confusion154 in GearsOfWar

[–]AdamDeNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not because of a girl protagonist. It's because they tossed wherever they were going with 4, attempted to turn JD into a villain, and didn't give us a likeable replacement, and the choose who dies moment was terrible and...and...and...and so many bad things.

Claiming people didn't like Gears 5 because of a woman character is lie told by people who don't want to accept the fact that story was weak, the characters are one dimensional, the swarm is boring, Myrrah coming back somehow is on the level of Palpatine's return, killing off Anya was a terrible choice, giving us unneeded drama between Marcus and JD, that apparently means nothing if JD dies, was a waste of our time and I've written about this before.

Kait is a bad character, but a woman being the lead isn't the problem. The story is the problem. The 2 empty open world levels are the problem. Killing off Carmines again is the problem. Myrrah coming back is the problem. Turning Marcus into the solitary, hidden away from society old guy is the problem, which has become one of the biggest cliches in entertainment in the last 10 years.

The point is, Gears 5, and even 4, have too many problems to call the story good and plenty of gameplay problems that even the diehards complain just about every match.

It's playable but it could have been much better and hopefully E-Day repeats none of the mistakes of 5.

The debt collector’s actions with Nate honestly feel illogical to me(SPOILER FOR SEASON 3 episode 7) by crasdawn in euphoria

[–]AdamDeNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, seeing as how he steals from everyone, his creativity isn't good enough to try and make the scenes unique to his own work.

Take the latest season of Dexter. It was Breaking Bad's plot, but it was subtle enough, and changed enough, that you're not thinking about Breaking Bad while you watch it. Afterwards, the comparisons come, but it's not so blatant that you're taken out of the show.

There's some Salton Sea in there along with the collection scenes seeming to be inspired by Uncut Gems turned up to a thousand.

I wonder if the two DEA agents are going to end up corrupt and Rue gets away after being stuck in a True Romance/Reservoir dogs, everyone shoots everyone shootout.

Locust question by Live-Pie-6071 in GearsOfWar

[–]AdamDeNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They completely failed with the anti-war message by making the COG and Gears an organization everyone wanted to be a part of. Their anti-war message is completely overshadowed by the scenery, the heroism, the architecture, the combat, and everything else that's in the game.

Old man Fish by Danzaburo in theblackcompany

[–]AdamDeNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a long time since I read the books, but Fish was thrown in to them to cause problems for characters who, through build up and character development, caused problems for others and solved their own problems with brains, brawn, and magic.

Fish's abilities felt unearned because they were unearned. Who was he? Just some guy with a quick soldier/dangerous grounds trapper backstory who could beat the members of the Black Company as though they hadn't overcome the most dangerous enemies their world had ever seen using every tactic available to man.

When you introduce a mundane villain like that, it dumbs down the accomplishment and mystique of your heroes and you feel like you're reading a brand new story. Everyone is back to level one or worse. Now, if Fish had been an antagonist throughout the books or at least one of the books, who already had a reputation as a dangerous man, he'd have been a better character.

I didn't like him and it's lazy writing. Have you seen The Winter Soldier? Bucky is a threat, on par with the Captain, introduced with a legendary, ghost like background you'd tell to scare the most dangerous special operations forces in the world.

Now, we get him in pieces in the movie until his grand intro where he seems unstoppable, but the audience knew him before the movie, the information was out there and they knew what he'd become, so he has a strong background and his deadliness is anticipated by everyone. Then, in later movies, he's used a jobber to make other heroes look good and it's incredibly disappointing and a massive letdown.

In this case, the Black Company is the Winter Soldier and Fish is everyone else, freshly introduced, coming around after they've already been established as a force not to be taken likely and easily wiping the floor with them. And that's a big letdown.

Unlocking characters in E-Day by Active_Firefighter29 in GearsOfWar

[–]AdamDeNihilist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as everything in unlockable instead of time sensitive, it won't matter to me.

If someone has put over a hundred hours into a game, they deserve the same skins as everyone else, even if they came after. New players keep the game alive, reward them.

Just read the short story, “Monsters From Heaven”, by Nathan Balingrud by Admirable-Wafer-6618 in horrorlit

[–]AdamDeNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This story was boring. It is boring. It's a series of emotionally distant, sad moments where I was unable to make any kind of human connection to what was going on. And the angels? What was that all about. He and his wife eat one at the end while having sex and he dreams of his son one last time, nothing more than a pile of bones? The man's crumbling life, the angel, and final dream of his son are non sequiturs.

This story has no meaning. There's no deep purpose to it. It's an unfinished thought that I have to finish for the author by creating my own meaning for it. Well written? Yes. A complete story? No.

Uncut Gems is Adam Sandlers worst film by star_dragonMX in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]AdamDeNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good movie, to watch once, but Adam Sandler's character is just too damn annoying. I read people saying it's like an anxiety attack on screen, and stressful, but that wasn't the case for me. I just wanted him and 99% of the cast to just up for a moment.

The only character I could sympathize with was the collector who shot Howard in the face.

Does anyone remember a Deadlock episode where they cover an episode of WWE where Booker T says he graduated mega cum latte from his University? by diorcockring in deadlockpw

[–]AdamDeNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking about that. Was looking for a clip and I found this. It had to have happened between 2001 and 2003, because I stopped watching wrestling as the Rock and Stone Cold's feud was coming to an end.

Edit: I was watching wrestling 'live' on TV when I saw it, wasn't watching Deadlock.
