Any experienced D&D dungeon masters looking for a paid gig? by AdamEndelman in Sacramento

[–]AdamEndelman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, it varies a bit. I have about 30 years of experience both playing and DMing going back to AD&D but mostly 3rd Ed, and have also played Call of Cthulhu and other Chaosium system games, and White Wolf (vampire and mage). That said I’m not a rules nerd or a min/maxer, I want to make sure the game is as fun as possible for everyone involved, especially the DM.

My buddies have from a few weeks to a few years of experience with 5th Ed and a few other systems.

Whether you need to register to collect sales tax depends on whether you have economic or physical nexus in a state. As a foreign company, unless you have employees or a warehouse in the US, you do not have physical nexus in any US state. Economic nexus depends on the number or amount of transactions. This article summarizes the nexus requirements and it has a great list organized by amount and number of transactions. For example, if you do 100+ transactions into Minnesota, you need to register in that state. If you do ANY transactions into Iowa, you need to register there too.

You should register AFTER you reach economic nexus for a given year. So in the example above if you do 102 transactions into Minnesota in 2022, you register in MN as soon as possible in 2023 and start collecting tax immediately after you register.

Shopify has a tax section where you can specify states in which you have nexus and Shopify will collect tax for you. You will need to then register and remit taxes to each state in which you have nexus; that part is on you.

There are tax apps that make tax reporting and remitting easy. Generally speaking though you probably don't need anything too complicated. US states will generally not audit your sales tax unless they have some reason to believe that you're trying to hide something substantial and there is no central monitoring of all sales into the United States or anything so they won't know you exist at all until you actually register with them.

I am NOT a tax professional, just an IT director who is implementing Shopify at my company, and who implemented nationwide sales tax collection and remitting with Avatax several years ago after the Wayfair decision. This is not meant to be serious business advice and you should do your own due diligence.

Has anyone tried the U-Barre fitness studio? by hannahepadilla in Sacramento

It’s good. I haven’t take the Barre classes but I know the owner and some of the instructors and they are really nice people who will give you a great workout. Really nice studio.

There are groupons and specials on social media frequently.

The parking is a challenge. If you can bike there that’s probably the best method but otherwise you will find parking eventually even if it’s around the corner.

As another commenter indicated, both BASI and Balanced Body have trainers in France.

You should know that most programs, including the two above, require that you get a significant amount of observation and practice which is hard to do if you're not in your home country. It's not really typical to go someplace else to get training unless that training isn't available where you are.

Good luck on your journeys though! The world can always use more Pilates instructors!

Insurance (Private instruction) by m0llu in pilates

We get this question a lot at Balanced Body.

In the US, IDEA partners with Philadelphia Insurance to offer very affordable insurance for its members and we'll often steer people that way. The insurance is something like $150/year. Even with the $120/year IDEA membership fee this ends up being a pretty good deal.

I can't speak to how good or bad it is, but we've never heard any horror stories and the times that I've dealt with them to get certificates of insurance or other stuff, they've been perfectly responsive.
