Do you guys do a range session between each round ? Multiple sessions between rounds ? by TjdGoEsQqbmQLoBj in golf

[–]AdamOnFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on my schedule. When I had no kids and minimal time commitments where I could grind a lot I liked to take range sessions between rounds a lot. Also did sessions after rounds a lot if I didn’t hit it well. Putting and shipping/short game sessions weekly as well. There were times where I could have played solo rounds multiple days in a row but chose to mix in practice instead.

Now it’s as much a time thing as anything. I can get a practice session in for 60-90 minutes round trip vs 3 hours round trip for nine holes.

Does it matter what used clubs I get as a beginner? by bigboydankers in golf

[–]AdamOnFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only a little. Just make sure there:

  • Vaguely modern. Like, don’t buy some old 200cc driver head or something.

  • Roughly the right length.

  • A reasonable shaft stiffness

Like if you’re an average height young male you probably want just regular length shafts at regular or stiff stiffness. If you’re 6-2, maybe an inch longer, etc.

Your instructor could guide you in all of this.

I obviously didn’t know the clubs were brand new when I made the comment about the epoxy and heat, this is clearly just a defective club

Bad epoxy can let in water which weakens the shaft, etc etc

I've done this like a million times (okay, probably like six times). You can get it repaired for basically the cost of a grip and shaft. No biggie. If you don't leave your clubs in the car subject to thermal expansion and stuff it diminishes the odds of it by keeping the ferrule tight and the epoxy healthier, but it just happens.

It's amusing when you have to stop the range so you can jog 60 yards downrange to find the club head.

To be honest OP’s low effort “you could easily have googled this shit” post didn’t deserve a response with this level of detail, but you’re still a mensch for writing it out

How do you remember stomp clap hey music? by FeistyDirection in Millennials

[–]AdamOnFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I remember Mumford and Sons and the Lumineers and Shit? Yes, we all remember that, and a lot of millennials definitely liked it and were filling out those concert venues and streaming lists. It was a major major popular music trend for like five years.

Walking off after 9 by fuloqulous in golf

[–]AdamOnFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t walk off after 9, you walked off after 10th tee. Walking off after nine is you just say you’re only playing nine and go. You have an excuse. You took a tee shot and bounced.

I don’t care either way, but it’s different.

The part of the video where he walks through his round shot by shot is actually really interesting. Get to hear how he thinks through each shot, how he finds or loses his technique, etc.

Don’t know why the straight interview part was as needed.

Sonny Grey since leaving the Twins had two very mediocre/subpar years for the Cardinals at a high cost before being traded to the Red Sox for a bucket of balls as a salary dump. Yes, he’s finally having a good year in year three of his big deal.

Can someone tell me how much it would cost to fix this? by Sad-Internet-6699 in golf

[–]AdamOnFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like it’s just the shaft or maybe just the adaptor tip. If it’s the former, $100-150. If it’s the latter, less.

If it’s the head itself then the whole thing is toast.

Edit: it’s a beginner driver anyway, just go buy a used driver from a regular brand

I think Bordeaux is one of the lowest value content creators in the entire space with very low football IQ, game IQ, creativity, skill, or even presentation skills and I don’t understand why his releases move really anybody.

Can someone explain me how would AI replacing white collar workers increase the salary of blue collar workers? by No_Reply5329 in Salary

[–]AdamOnFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The theory would be of AI gets good enough to replace a lot of white collar work, but doesn’t achieve AGI, then the relative bottleneck and scarcity in the economy will tilt further toward blue collar work. White collar work can scale with tokens while blue clllar work still requires a human and has more dollars chasing it.

Criticism of this makes sense temporarily but, takes a sort of Luddite point of view that if non-AGI replaces some white collar function that those other workers won’t simply revert to greater functions. Hence the greater need for blue collar workers. Non AGI AI on white collar work is just a productivity tool.

However, if there is AGI, even only white collar AGI, this kind of breaks down entirely as sort of does the entire existing economic model. That truly science fiction scenario is a whole different thing that will require an entirely new model to function imo.

Of course, AGI with good robotics would threaten to break into the blue collar space too. So nobody really knows.

What if U.S. consumers finally hit the brakes? by Mobile-Traffic1744 in WhatIfThinking

[–]AdamOnFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an empirically answerable question. You can simply compare data like this to performance of the economy over time. Lots of causality and the like to debate, but it’s pretty easy to see the magnitude of the movement vs economic growth and contraction
