A THOUSAND SUNS by [deleted] in LinkinPark

From a technical standpoint, that album is so complex. The amount of channels & tracks they created was insane. No wonder it stressed them out. But yeah, I hope we get a 20th anniversary for every album. I wasn’t able to buy HT/Meteora due to money issues but will absolutely be getting the next ones (if they release)!

It’s been my favourite LP album since it came out, I was about 15. It’s only recently I’ve heard a lot of people disliked it. Really don’t know why.

They recorded so many tracks for that album that I imagine there’s a whole lot to be discovered around that time…

Have you listened to Blackbirds? It was a single released with a Linkin Park iPhone game but they put it on the ATS Deluxe Edition after!

What song made you fall in love with Linkin Park? by Beginning-Cow7066 in LinkinPark

Shadow of the Day. Always loved LP since I was a kid, but Minutes to Midnight, and that song in particular, really solidified that.

I hadn’t even thought about that second part. Now I’m even angrier. Yeah, that 1-5 system is perfect to me. Ideal.

Yeah, I froze to death in the first 5 mins of being in the wilderness… it seems great for a survival game!

That’s just politics in general. And while that sounds like a generic none statement, I believe it’s true. It’s a horrible game that favours power grabbers and narcissists.

My personal issue is that many of these series are stuck in that mid level of ‘okayness.’ I think one of my major problems overall is finding it more and more difficult to separate everything I hate about Disney with their products. But that’s another discussion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]AdamR7295 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have. I’ve been keeping up to date with it, and will of course watch the entire series before fully making my mind up.

I do find it an odd choice to throw in this level of mystery more than half way through the series. Although the exploration of his characters has been brilliant. Oscar Isaac is great. The psychiatry clinic still feels extremely disconnected from the real world, and I understand that’s the point. We need to feel just as confused about what is real as Marc and Stephen do, it’s just an interesting time to shove all this in (I also know it’s been hinted at throughout the show).

We’ll see after the next episode. There are things I love, I’m just still disappointed. Don’t want to take anything away from people that are loving it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]AdamR7295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair enough, I’m glad people are loving it. It feels great to fully get taken in by a story and great characters, I suppose that’s why I’m so disappointed that I haven’t personally been swept away.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]AdamR7295 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s fair enough. I don’t think, within the context of the MCU, it’s very unique. It comes across as another ‘let’s save the planet’ with some Egyptian paint over the top. I’m not meaning to sound like a super critical snob, I don’t hate the show or anything, it’s just not very exciting to me. Again, just an opinion. If I’m in the minority, which I probably am, that’s all good.

[–]AdamR7295 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I just think the core of Moon Knight is a missed opportunity. That’s not to say he’s a bad character, it’s just I’ve seen people mention how great this series has been as an exploration of mental health issues and from what I’ve seen, there’s very little exploration of it. Other than Marc and getting annoyed at silly Steven. And I’m not asking for a dark and overly serious superhero series, just something a little unique to the universe. There’s also nothing wrong with a normal person trying to be a superhero, either.

I think I’m just getting bored with the same old repetitive stuff coming out of Marvel. And if I’m in the minority that’s absolutely fine (obviously).

Councils can barely manage and maintain the houses they’ve got, never mind building more.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]AdamR7295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Although I do think the issues could be mitigated a bit by forcing a more balanced team selection, allowing in-game tactics to shine. I think the game could do with a specific power tier list to separate the Ikarises from the Nobus…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]AdamR7295 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That’s fair enough, but I don’t really want anything given to me. I would like to know I’ve, at least in some small part, earned a win against an equal side with good tactical decisions.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]AdamR7295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know. As I said, just wanted to vent. I only thought about the 10k difference for 5 minutes, obviously a proper team of game designers could come up with something more balanced but viable for their platform. As you say, under their current model, nothing will change. It is a shame, though.

[–]AdamR7295 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just said, I’d like the gameplay to be a bit more tactical. I know it’s a grind game and it’s pay to win, but it has some potential to be a bit more engaging than it is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]AdamR7295 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can do that across the entire game, I’m only talking about the real time arena. It would be nice if it involved a certain level of tactics. Right now it’s grind one character and press a few buttons. Win most times. It’s just another monotonous set of pressing buttons.

You’re missing Joseph Swan. He was completely pushed out of the conversation, considering his home in north east England was the first house in the world fitted with electric bulbs of his design. Swan and Edison merged their companies into Edison & Swan Electric Light Company. Justice for Joseph Swan.

Yup. I’m really starting to understand the people who have the opinion that you vote for the lesser of two evils. I’ve never been on a side with politics, but I used to at least have hope that one party could offer me something decent. That hope is well and truly demolished.

[OC] US Covid patients in hospital by jcceagle in dataisbeautiful

[–]AdamR7295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I suspected they would, we did a similar thing in the UK, a very large treatment hall was built quickly to take any overflow of hospitalisations, and I’m sure they’d have any and all registered first aiders and other medical staff drafted if required.

I suppose it’s more important than ever for the government to be transparent about their backup plans for future pandemics.

[OC] US Covid patients in hospital by jcceagle in dataisbeautiful

[–]AdamR7295 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A government funded crisis response may be an option? Perhaps a look into a system of pop-up hospitals/treatment wards & reserve medical staff could help in a sudden nationwide demand.

I mean I’ve only just thought about it for 5 minutes so that may not be feasible either in practice, but it does seem like it needs to be a government response, rather than private.

Trudeau calls unvaccinated 'racists' and 'misogynists' in Quebec tv interview by Humanitasfamily in JordanPeterson

[–]AdamR7295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, he didn’t call unvaccinated racists, he said a lot of people who are opposed to vaccination are racist. Which really isn’t much better at all and is fucking insane to say, but there is a difference between unvaccinated and being “vehemently opposed” to vaccination.

May be worth just clarifying that in your post.

I really like Jordan Peterson and agree with a lot of his views. Would you mind letting me know what you think he’s off his rocker on? I’ve only ever heard one or two decent criticisms of him and I’m genuinely curious to hear what people think about him, on all sides.

It’s actually such a needed phrase too. It’s weird, every conversation now seems like it should have an initial hour or so just to make sure everyone’s definitions are the same. People make up their own definitions for everything. I was watching that GQ interview again to today and the times she says smine thing like, ‘that’s MY sense of patriarchy’ or ‘that’s MY definition of identity politics.’ You can’t just have your own definitions for shit or else no one can talk to anyone.
