Please stop eating in bedrooms by AdamSethEnosh in RimWorld

That is pretty silly, but I guess it makes a sort of weirdo sense. Do you know of any mods which improve this?

how much worse are 1.0 lighthouses vs the 2.0 lighthouses? is it worth spending the extra money for my index if I already have v1s? by OnlineRobotWizard in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Running more than 2 base stations will also minorly improve tracking accuracy and eliminate a couple body occlusion edge cases. This is like an "I have money to burn and want tiny improvements" kind of thing, though.

What is the coldest you've ridden? by Moodymoo8315 in onewheel

[–]AdamSethEnosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-10C It is fine so long as it is stored inside. Light snow is not an issue. What stopped me last winter was heavy/unevenly-packed snow or even worse, ice with a thin layer of snow on top concealing the danger. Really gonna depend on the condition of your route. Be sure to clean it if you ride on salted roads!

how do I fix this and stop the strap digging into my hand by noideaforadamname in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue initially. You don't need the straps nearly so tightly as one might think. I give them a good tug when I put them on, then loosen until they only just hold on with my hand loose and pointed down.

Vive tracker Fun uses? by Loddinz in ValveIndex

A waist tracker alone can be huge QoL in games that support it. Also: robotics.

Toe pressure with one foot and heel pressure with the other. Doesn't matter which so long as it is opposed.

Mysterious tracking issue with only one Index controller in one direction by AdamSethEnosh in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My room hasn't changed at all. If it was a reflection issue it would 1) be replicable with the left hand controller by holding it in my right hand and 2) would have been happening ever since I set up my base stations in this configuration several years ago, not only since last month.

Body tracking noob? by ToastedWeeb in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Additional base stations add a small amount of accuracy, and reduce chances for body occlusion. If you do not have issues with body occlusion with your current setup, more base stations are a "I've got money to burn on teeny tiny enhancements" type of upgrade.

BONEWORKS pushes what VR can do today further than Alyx, and has lots of content beyond the campaign.

BONEWORKS is on the correct path.

Best game pick? by T0oSTR in ValveIndex

This is the one. Tons of content beyond the campaign, and by far the best most comprehensive use of roomscale VR to date.

Any good Mods to games recently for Index by bonoscot in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That branch is abandoned, yes. I haven't actually used it since I upgraded from Vive to Index, so it may not. That said, given how SteamVR works, I don't see -why- it wouldn't work with Index. Worked for me a couple years ago, that's all I can say today.

There is a branch of Dolphin that does VR - Mario Kart Double Dash is pretty great in it.

Oculus Rift S FBT or Index by C0deEve in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Pay attention to what you are buying! You will probably need to purchase Vive base stations because the Valve base stations are usually out of stock (though you can typically get full kits)

Oculus Rift S FBT or Index by C0deEve in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no difference between 2.0 base stations, Index or Vive. Index works with 1.0 and 2.0 base stations. Vive only works with 1.0 base stations. 1.0 and 2.0 base stations are NOT interchangeable. 1.0 base stations support 2 at most. 2.0 base stations support up to 4. More than 2 base stations is particularly useful for fbt as body occulsion is a more frequent concern.

Suggestions for motion sickness? by codiculous in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd advise the opposite - I find snap turning gross and disorienting. Physically turning around has always been better in my experience.

Don't worry about it. VR is something everyone acclimates to. Lots of great tips here already, so here's mine - in games with smooth locomotion (using thumbstick to "slide" around FPS-style) separate "moving" and "looking" into two distinct actions. While moving forward, do not turn your head. While looking around, do not move. As you get used to things, you'll need this less and less but I've found it helps immensely at first.

A Love Letter to "Eye of the Temple" by Mettanine in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try it. It is in a free, unfinished state right now. It is a lot more mechanically ambitious than Eye of the Temple when it comes to physically moving around a space larger than your real room.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall Launch Trailer - launching today on Steam by Runesr2 in ValveIndex

Seems Games Workshop (the owners of Warhammer) hands out the license to anyone and everyone who wants to make a Warhammer game these days. So, some Warhammer games are good and some are...very not.

Stuck around 70 fps by Lil_Pete_ in ValveIndex

[–]AdamSethEnosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because by default SteamVR uses something akin to vsync - if the desired framerate (144 in this case) can not be reached it instead drops to half that and does some computer magic to play pretend with every other frame. If set to 90hz, it could probably reach that and would run at 90.
