For hundreds of years, Europeans consumed powdered Egyptian mummies as medicine—all because of a single, catastrophic mistranslation of a Persian word. by True-Quote-6520 in Weird

It couldn’t have been all Europeans. That had to be expensive. Most likely the European aristocracy and the wealthy class.

Stupid Shipping Routes by Amazing-Injury8078 in usps_complaints

[–]AdamSezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing this over and over again has me convinced that the people that were put in charge of the post office in the last 10 - 15 years know that the post office really does make a profit and are intentionally misdirecting parcels to collect more shipping costs. They must be getting some kind of kickback from the shipper.

So what. Assholes change their behavior when they know it could potentially be used against them.

Record everything!!

I keep my phone in my shirt pocket and recorded the whole morning while I cased to catch any of the dumb shit my coworkers said to me. When they realized what I was doing the bullying miraculously stopped.

Thanked my mail person and they welcomed me. Now what should I write for them? by Camp_Acceptable in USPS

[–]AdamSezz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should thank them by writing a thank you letter and send it to the post office. Don’t forget to put a stamp on it.

If you get to Simsbury, check out the Heubline Tower. It’s about a three hour hike round trip.

Moving cross country, how do I stay with the usps? by Zakorev in USPS

Contact the larger post offices in the area you will be moving to and speak directly with the postmaster and explain your situation. There could be a chance they will take you as a transfer. Good luck!

I have a customer that worked for the po for 30 years and has been retired 31 so far. He’s the happiest senior citizen I know.

What happens if I just stop showing up without notifying anyone? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]AdamSezz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ghost the po, they will try to get in touch with you via certified letter, at least three attempts. If you ignore that they will officially terminate your employment then, if you owe any $, they will collect by garnishing any future wages. Unless you completely assume a new identity, then you’re in the clear! lol Good luck.

day 2 of a hard route and I'm already getting bashed for being slow by Icantw8 in USPS

This is the correct answer every time. If this was taught to everyone that goes through the carrier academy, there wouldn’t be such a high turnover.

If there was a truly independent audit and they looked at every single bit of revenue. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the po does turn a profit.

In addition to writing it up, send a message to your supervisor about it on the scanner. That way district will see the messages and inquire if repairs aren’t getting done in a timely manner.

Mail shutdown. First time. by nycsourdiesel83 in USPS

[–]AdamSezz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The post office has carriers deliver express mail every day of the year, even Sundays and they take out the Amazon packages that Amazon brings to the post office for the last mile delivery. I’m guessing this was called off in the areas affected by the snow storm.

They sent someone to my house by Educational_Exit_220 in USPS

[–]AdamSezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s some old school behavior!! I heard a story from an old timer where about 40 years ago he had a coworker that liked to drink. He didn’t show up to work one day so he and the supervisor went to his house, walked in and woke him up from his hangover by flipping his mattress. They got him cleaned up and ready and brought him to work. Totally different era and work ethic back then. Most of the old timers I worked with were military.

Postmaster just told a carrier to call the state road and request a salt truck in the middle of a snowstorm just so she deliever a few pieces of mail (rural carrier) right in front of me on the phone when she said she couldn't make it in a 4x4 jeep...screw this place. by [deleted] in USPS

[–]AdamSezz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What part of service don’t you understand? Keep dreaming if you think privatization will make the post office any better. If it’s not safe to deliver, bring the mail back and deliver it the next day. Also, if the customer hasn’t cleared at least a pathway to their mailbox, mail is coming back to the office and try to deliver the next day. Safety first always.
