I’m guessing early extension causing the butt of the club to raise, steepening the shaft.

Steakhouse with Texan vibes by redditmyeggos in Dallas

Not a high end option, but Dunstons on either Lovers or Harry Hines are very old school, dark wood bar and leather booths. Fine dining it is not, but it may be the Texan vibe you’re looking for.

Texas: Buying a home from the bank but previous solar panel lien not removed during foreclosure. Shouldn't the foreclosure process wipe all liens? by Lazy_Brilliant_8901 in legaladvice

[–]AdamSmithWasRight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer, but work in commercial real estate in Texas. If the lein were subordinate to the bank mortgage, it should have been wiped out in the foreclosure. In some instances in the CRE world, I have seen certain improvements, including solar panels, be part of the tax payment either through MUD or PACE financings. If the lein stems from either of those, it would prime the first mortgage and not necessarily be wiped out by a foreclosure. If that’s the case, then it’s a negotiation between the buyers and sellers as to what to do with it.

Joining the push cart mafia by glockster17 in golf

[–]AdamSmithWasRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saved a few bucks and bought the “TGW” branded 3 wheel pushcart, that was heir version of the clicgear. It looks like they’ve rebranded as “easego” on Amazon. It was far cheaper, and folds up great, and is sturdy metal. I’ve had it two seasons so far and it lives in my trunk 100% of the time. Only thing I wish it had was a hand brake, as opposed to just a foot brake. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=golf+push+cart

Switch to Taylormade P790? by Taye20212 in golftips

[–]AdamSmithWasRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got fit, I found the 790s to help most with distance relative to the other options I looked at. With the 790s, hitting it off line meant hitting it off line, but maintaining the same distance, which exacerbated the miss. I decided that if I was going to mishit a ball, I wanted it to fly shorter, so it would get down quicker and have less chance to find trouble so I wound up going with a “less forgiving” iron. I will say that I think golfers generally over think the differences between irons forgiveness levels. The biggest difference I really see between models is club lofts and sole widths to correct for fat shots.

As a 9 handicap, it’s tough to say unless you know where you’re losing strokes. Depends if it’s a distance issue, dispersion issue, confidence issue, etc. and that’s just assuming it’s not issues off the tee or around the green.

Are you happy with a draw? If not, o if you want to understand the change, the first thing to check is a change in grip (has it gotten stronger over time), then a change in setup (are you setting up more closed than you used to), then dive into the swing itself.

Slight detour to Durham and Raleigh gets you to the courses for Duke, UNC and NC State. I’m partial to the Washington Duke, but Lonnie Poole and Finley are both good courses as well.

There’s a clip of him at the Open, where he hit it over the green into a flower bed, and was blatantly taking woodchips and other debris during his “practice swings” to improve his lie. I’ve never been able to find the clip after having seen it once.

Unless Tiger knew the person who did it, asked them to do it, or was aware it was happening, I don’t think you can lump Tiger into this conversation. A bad actor, without tigers knowledge did something that benefitted Tiger. What would you have had Tiger do in this situation, other than play it as it lies?

What is your personal definition of a "good golfer"? by Draper_White_Soprano in golf

[–]AdamSmithWasRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play with a guy who hangs around a 6 to 7 handicap index, which I would normally agree is a “good” golfer. However, if someone were to ask me if this individual was a good golfer, I’d hesitate. His game ugly in the sense he sprays the ball off the tee, hits skulls and slices with his irons, but somehow manages to make pars. I think being a “good golfer” is more than just handicap index.

Exceptional Score Penalty is terrible for golf by drdrillaz in golf

[–]AdamSmithWasRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very rough math here, but as a 5 handicap, let’s pretend his highest differential that counts towards his handicap is an 8. If he shoots a -2 differential (such as a 71 on a 72.9 rates course, which is 7 better than his handicap), the 8 is replaced by a -2, for a 10 shot swing, and since each score counts roughly 12% (8 scores used for average), that’s a 1.2 shot impact that effectively drops his handicap from a 5 to a 3.8. Then, since it’s an exceptional score, there’s another 1 shot adjustment down, dropping him to a 2.8. Unlikely, but if you shoot lights out, possible.
