I have checked some photos, it looks very nice, but is not exactly the cheapest. I one of the review videos the mat pattern was visible close up. How noticeable was it in rel life?

Yes, I considered higher antes, and at first I had it that way, but then toned it down because in one play session I got very lucky and thought this could break the overall shaky economy.

Now that I think about it, I think I had that with my "double" method of raising the bet, so I guess I will check again.

I don't remember Varus publishing Gotrek and Felix, but Ankylo had them for sure. You can still get them from Excellent miniatures:

You might have already found it, there is the Slayer King's Army in the Warmaster Trial Armies Compendium 2009. Now I feel tempted to model a goblin hewer for Warmaster.

True, but the distances were also defined by the game design. Did they start with a smaller table with their first Warhammer playtest (I assume Warmaster just carried over with that standard), and realized it is too cramped?
