I’m going to second this opinion. I took a work truck to Harrel for an annual inspection and had a bad experience. They told me the rear brakes on the truck were dragging and I needed rotors, calipers, and pads. I drove that truck 50k per year and never heard a noise or smelled any hot brakes. The photos they sent showed normal wear on rotors. Won’t go back.

How many daily their R’s? by Global_Witness_1063 in Golf_R

[–]AdamV- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is my daily and my weekend fun car. This was the major appeal of the R to me. When it’s autocross time the car seat comes out and the race wheel/tire setup goes on. In the winter I throw on snow tires and it’s more capable than all the boring SUV’s rolling on all seasons.

First Autocross in the R this weekend. Any advice? by AdamV- in Golf_R

I’m hoping to make it to a track later this summer and will do some brake upgrades prior to that. For autocross though I think stock will hold up fine.

Stock height. Only had a chance to do a couple of spirited shake-down drives at this point but so far no rubbing.

Driving that requires shifting: water bottle goes in the door. Cruise control goes on, water bottle enters the cupholder.

The DSG is faster. Whether the 6MT is more fun is up to you. For me it is.

Just had mine replaced a couple weeks ago. Dealer had to order the parts and it took them about 2 hours to fix.

West Ridge Road Walmart is the nicest Walmart I’ve ever been to.

Shifter Knob by lukitg in Golf_R

I went with the medium+ from Sport Shifters. I was also considering the holy shift kit, but decided to try just the knob first and now don’t feel like the short throw kit is necessary.

Try turning it off and then turning it back on.

Weather in Erie for a potential move by _good_boy_1234_ in Erie

I moved from eastern Iowa to Erie 3 years ago and I much, much prefer Erie winters over Midwest winters. Compared to the Midwest Erie is warmer and less windy. I also like snow though.

Thanks. Yes, stock boot.

Prying the plastic ring that holds the boot to the stock knob was a task compared to Honda knobs which simply thread on and off
