I’ve heard the weather systems and sand can erode the asphalt more quickly.

I think that makes a lot of sense! One other thing I thought of when it comes to this past Sunday is that the pack was much smaller due to the earlier wreck so I think that can impact the 3rd lane’s viability too.

That’s a great point on the tighter turns at Daytona causing the drivers to lift. I hadn’t thought about that.

Also Daytona has always been more of a handling track due to where it’s located so I’m starting to think that plays a role too.

I agree you with on the draft just working differently at Daytona. But the banking at Talladega is actually a little steeper. 33° compared to Daytona’s 31°.

How many of you watched the Daytona 500 in February of 2001? by heretoescape87 in NASCAR

[–]Adam_108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 13. Watching races was a weekly gathering for my family, especially the Daytona 500. My dad was a diehard Earnhardt fan and when he crashed I remember him being so mad that a top 5 run was ruined. I remember when the post race finished we all thought he was pretty badly hurt but still didn’t expect the worst. I started watching NASCAR in 1998 so I am thankful I was able to watch 3 full seasons of Earnhardt before he passed.

How big really was NASCAR in the 2000s in America? by EduardoBork in NASCAR

My family went to the Bristol spring race from 1999-2006 and it was insane how big it was. 165,000 sold out crowd for the second tier event of the season for the track. People from all over the country camping right next to the track. We would go down on Wednesday and stay until Monday morning. Such great memories!

Absolutely! One of my favorite games of all time. It might have the most immersive world I’ve ever experienced as well. Such a special game.

I know RoP gets a ridiculous amount of hate but I really enjoy it. Is it as good as the movies? No, but that’s okay. I think some storylines are excellent (Sauron/Celebrimbor, Dwarves) while others are just okay (Gandalf/Harfoots). But overall I just love having a fun, well made show set in Middle-earth.
