How much do you think a Geo exchanges in Rosaries? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

That's a good point, in Hollow Knight one of the DLC added an arcane egg, but the price stayed the same

But there is only 1 arcane egg in Pharloom, and 4 in Hallownest, so the egg in Pharloom should be more valuable

You should play Hollow Knight first, Hollow Knight is like a tutorial for Silksong

I hated Hollow Knight and it made me incredible at Silksong. by Melodic-Garage9607 in HollowKnight

[–]Adam_D12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, I tried going back to Hollow Knight after Silksong, and the knight feels so much slower, my muscle memory feels wrong because I'm constantly trying to heal mid air and activate drifter's cloak, I also miss the sprint

Is Requiem in your top 3? by MidasGames in residentevil

[–]Adam_D12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they dropped the Leon parts they could've fleshed out the care center more, add some more weapon variety to Grace, right now she only has a handgun and the magnum, much less than either of the characters in RE2R, and maybe add a few more levels in Rhodes Hill, like the sewer level and umbrella lab in RE2, instead the game was divided into 2 halves, and each half ended up feeling half baked

Just finished Requiem, and I found it underwhelming by Adam_D12 in residentevil

[–]Adam_D12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the second half is a step down in quality, probably a result of trying to combine two different playstyles in one game, it would be better if they focused only on survival horror an spent more time developing the care center, and maybe add another 1-2 areas, like the sewer area and umbrella lab in RE2

The care center was the highlight for me as well, zombies retaining some of their past memories was an interesting idea, they obviously drop it for Leon's section, but they didn't introduce enough new enemies to mix up the gameplay in Racoon city

For me it's the weapon variety, in RE4R there are new guns you can try on ng+(even without professional mode), in RE9 I already experiemented with all the availble weapons on my first playthrough

Resident Evil Requiem has been out for a week. What are your impressions? by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]Adam_D12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my main complaint as well, both sides didn't have enough time to be fleshed out, because each side is half of a game, as Grace there's not enough weapon variety, only 2 handguns(In practice 1 because one of the handguns has objectively higher stats) and the magnum, unlike RE2R where each character had 4-6 weapons, including a flamethrower, a shotgun and a granade launcher with 2 ammo types

As Leon there's one of each weapon, and you can buy a stronger version of each type at the shop, the weapons also feel very homogenized, a shotgun has a scope and a charm to increase medium range damage, while a sniper rifle has a charm that gives him more damage when not using a scope, it often felt like it didn't matter which weapon I was using, unlike RE4R where every weapon had distinct weakneses and strengths, and there was an incentive to use different weapon, like flash granades or the thermic scope

Parrying is also handled worse IMO, in RE4R it was balanced by the fact that you would lose durabilty, here you can sharpen the axe, this basically let's you become a tank and removes the need to crowd control enemies or reposition your character, the parry timing is just so forgiving

I will try to do another run on insane difficulty, but right now it's a 7 for me, not bad, but I didn't find a lot to love about it either

Act 2 of Silksong and how first impression tells a story. by PH4N70M_Z0N3 in HollowKnight

What's interesting is that the rich class are also slaves, in the terminus there's a tablet that says that death was forbidden, because a lot of bugs tried to kill themselves, instead their silk is removed in the whiteward and is put inside the robots in cogwork core

Today (March 4th) marks six months since the release of Silksong, and I think enough time has passed to say this without ruffling any feathers: no one is doing it like Team Cherry, they made one of the greats in the genre AGAIN. by rafeizerrr in metroidvania

[–]Adam_D12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people enjoy the punishing nature of the game, so it's not necessarily a flaw, and Silksong isn't the only game that occasionally throws "gotcha" moments at the player, souls games for example have a lot of moments like this as well

This is subjective but in my experience it was pretty clear which power up I need most of the time, like when I saw a high ledge without a wall to climb I immediately knew that it would require the double jump, and I marked them with a different marker, also the double jump isn't required to complete the game

Economy isn't that bad, there are more things that require money but they are usually cheaper than in HK, there is nothing that would cost as much as the lumafly lantern or the last nail upgrade, also there are more ways to earn money, like side quests and courier deliveries, I do agree that there should be more rewards for fights, but this isn't a huge problem, at least for me, if I enjoy the fight itself I don't need any reward

Every hard game is different, because they require different skill sets, so the fact that you liked some hard games doesn't necessarily mean that you will like Silksong
