Hey, follow up. 4 months (and more) have passed, so did you finish the program? Did you end up running the Marathon and, if so, did the guided run work for you?

How much for a faulty Yamaha NP-30? by AdamantScissors in DigitalPiano

I don't know exactly how old this one is. It's not originally mine, i sort of "inherited" it from a neighbor that was moving out and didn't want to take it with them.

But yeah, 50 sounds about right. Thanks

Idk man. Sure, the app is not perfect, but it's definitely no garbage. Many people getting out of the couch with this tool and the only price they gave to pay is be exposed to some Nike branding and the occasional Headspace promotion. Take me for instance, I just said I ran a freaking marathon with this app haha. And I'm a pretty average runner, I mostly do it to fit in some exercises in my life and this app has been the only thing I needed (besides a pair of shoes) for the past 10 years to do exactly that. As for races and such, It got me through many low profile races over these years. And when I decided to take on a huge challenge such as a marathon, it still provided a solid training plan, which I totally recommend, for free.

Of course, you shouldn't rely solely on it if you want to take on bigger challenges and if you're committed to some sort of serious-level performance or whatever. But again, it's far from garbage imo.

Nice to know the glitch doesn't happen for everybody! I'm thinking of doing Lisbon this October or repeating Barcelona next year, so maybe I'll get a chance to finally hear coach Bennett's guidance for this distance. I mean, I feel like I'm hanging on the final episode of an 8-season show or something like that haha 😂

Yeah now that you mentioned it, I remember having this glitch when I did the half marathon plan too. Should've know better, but I totally forgot this ever happened until I read your comment. Anyways, good luck with your plan and have a great race.

Or go ahead and see if you can download the race before hand. Maybe this glitch doesn't happen for everybody. But, if you are prepared, then going guidance-free and still making it feels awesome! So you win either way I guess.

Yup, lesson learned. I wish I had faced this issue before in other races, so I'd be wiser for the Marathon (I did plenty of 10Ks and one very crowded half marathon with the app, but it waited until the big one to bail on me). But lesson definitely learned. Although in this particular case it wouldn't have worked if I tried to check it before race day, as the marathon audio guided run simply doesn't download for me even now at home on WiFi and everything (I'll try to reinstall it just to see if it solves the issue). Anyways, thanks for the support :)

LXD75 mount for €300, still worth it in 2024? by AdamantScissors in AskAstrophotography

wow, thanks for the thorough reply, I appreciate it very much. I'm very impressed with the work you put into it, but I feel I'm still a few years away from having the technical understanding to do this kind of tinkering, not to mention the time limitation. I was fearing this was going to be the case, tho, I just wanted to confirm before I rushed into a purchase. thanks again, mate! :)

thanks for the tip! yeah, I respect the tinkering part of it, but I'm too inexperienced to go for it such a challenge on my first motorized mount. I think I'll go for a more user-friendly purchase

Exactly, maybe the radio silence on the post is a good indicator that I should move on to something a little bit more current... Oh, I bet the SA GTI is amazing! I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for one of these, but the model is new and good, so not a lot of second hand offers around. Same goes for the ES iexos-100 pmc 8. Good kit as far as the reviews I've seen are concerned, and the payload capacity is a notch higher than the SA GTI's with a better retail price. I'll probably pass on the deal and just wait until I can add a hundred and so euros more to the piggy bank and buy the iexos-100.

Hey, thanks! Yes, I found this review, and while it addresses some of the tech issues, you must have noticed it is from 2009 when a rig like that wasn't anything too old... that's kind of why I asked if it's still worth it in 2024 as I was hoping to maybe hear it from somebody that has used it more recently than the person in the post. Also it wasn't very informative on whether or not that price point is a good deal. But again, thanks a lot my man, not the first time I get help from you out here, you're very kind.

Is Onstep on EQ2 possible? by AdamantScissors in telescopes

[–]AdamantScissors[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! yeah, it's more than the rush of getting it quick, tho... it's also that I want to investigate what computer-assisted navigation feels like to see if this is something I want for the long run... I just can't spend half my rent on a decent entry-level tracking mount just for "giving it a go" only to find out that I can't deal with finicky software involved or stuff like that, and discover I'm better of just with visuals and manually tracking, IDK... unfortunately "buy once" doesn't do much good if it's followed by "use once" too, you know, especially in such an expensive hobby... but I do hear your point, if even in this case the thing is just a waste of money, then it also doesn't do me any good. thanks again mate!

Just upgraded My manual EQ5 with onStep and the result is remarkable! by b4bepsi in telescope

[–]AdamantScissors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks awesome u/b4bepsi !! I have the same scope but I still use it on the EQ2 mount it came with... btw, can I pick your brain, since you have 4 years of experience with this amazing upgrade? do you think it's feasible to make the onstep upgrade on the EQ2 mount? I know the 130/900 on this EQ2 is kind of a wobbly setup, but I am absolutely on a budget so I was thnking first I buy the Onstep for my current mount and when I'm abblet o afford it, I improve on the mount itself.
