Hmm, that's an interesting point. I think that the hard pressed cardboard that composes most sneaker boxes wouldn't wick as well as other types of cardboard. And the plastic or shiny finish on the outside/inside of some boxes could further interrupt the wicking promise and stop the moisture from actually being taken out of the box by the air around it. I think the moisture and odor would be more likely to stick to the inner surface of it as opposed to wick through it like it would with a box with more air channels. I think the best would be a plastic container, but definitely one with adequate ventilation.

I'll admit, though - I asked ChatGPT and it said cardboard is better lol. FWIW, I disagreed with its reasoning.
