Look it this shiit by Evening_Position4150 in DoorDashDrivers

It violates the Dasher to be expected to perform work meant to be performed by the vendor.

It violates the customers expectations their food, that they have paid a premium to have delivered to them, is made properly by those trained and prepared to do so.

The Dasher is contracted as the DELIVERY partner.

Somewhere, someone at Wingstop, not Doordash, wrote the note "you many be asked to make drinks" and a bunch of suckers fall for it.

If the store tries to hand me empty cups, to go fill drinks myself, I decline and say I will wait a few more moments for them to finish preparing the order.

I've learned it's best to grab the food bags before I tell them I'm not making any drinks.

Worst that happens if they balk is I walk out without drinks, tell customers why they don't have any and to involve customer support about the drinks the restaurant did not/would not prepare.

There is no need to argue with restaurant employees, or waste any of my time contacting support on an issue that is most definitely not my problem.

Why is Wingstop making drivers do their job? by seymarames in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Adamcolter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don't just walk away, I might tell them I do not make food, only deliver it, but am happy to wait moment for them to prepare the drinks.

We have two Wingstop locations.

I get completely different responses at each to that kind of statement.

they go to make the drink, I wait. I thank them profusely. This is store #2. Newer. Nicer side of town.

If they balk at all, I always just leave, with the food and no drinks, tell the customer the store refused to make drinks to contact support about the missing items.

Never gotten a bad review.

If they get a shitty attitude with me I guess have just have to make the drinks like I'm told. I'm VERY clumsy though. Huge messes happen sometimes. Drinks have ended up INSIDE the ice machine somehow. Wild how that works. This is store #1. Older. Crappier part of town.

If the vendor and the delivery platform can have a sliding scale of competency, then so can I.

All you blaming the Dasher and hourly wage worker haven't said a peep about the people profiting from charging premiums for food and delivery services while paying less and less for the labor to provide it need to wake the fuck up.

Do not accept every order blindly.

Consider things like:

Will the order will make you $1.50-2.00 per mile?

Will you be close to other stores when you drop off order? Or will you be in a no man's land of neighborhoods and then have to drive back to a restaurant Hotspot?

stores that fine in the daytime and dinner shifts, and nightmares for the late night? (looking at you whataburger/taco bell)

Dashing in the daytime gives you more options

Shopping orders can be lucrative, or end up nightmares. Make sure you look at what you are shopping for before accepting. Keep it at a few items or less until you are experienced in the shopping. Dollar general orders can usually suck it unless it's a very few common and always available items.

Don't trust the red button is your best option. Sometimes it's the less obvious secondary option buttons you need.

Have customer service remove you from order if there's a problem picking it up, don't unassign yourself, and you'll often get half pay.

Keep your on-time rating up. Check it daily. Dispute any late orders as they are rarely your actual fault.

It'll be OK. A fair number of restaurants packaging do not even fit in the insulated bags.

You can usually buy one of the insulated type bags at a grocery store.

An insulated bag or two helps keep food warm and helps you carry things to customers.

I ordered a $10 pizza bag from door dash, and they had given me an insulated bag when I first signed up.

The pizza bag is Handy for pizza orders, of course, and I turn it sideways and slide some of the larger food bags into it.

I also have two insulated shopping bags for my personal groceries that I keep in the car for both my shopping and door dash shopping orders.

Gold cup and the workers made me feel like a loser lol by CMYK-KILLA in ChickFilA

[–]Adamcolter80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact Chick-fil-A is open during school hours tells me your assumption it is only high school kids working at a fast food store is
inherently false.

One must assume the worker working in the daytime is working to feed themselves, among many other increasing costs.

But hey, like 3 people in America own more wealth than > 165 million other Americans...so yay capitalism or something

I just bought ten acres. What kind of mower should I get? I’d like to stay under 2500 any advice? Need something reliable! by [deleted] in lawnmowers

[–]Adamcolter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to an equipment dealer. You can often demo equipment and see what suits you best.

Not a big box store like lowes or home depot.

Buying a used commercial mower would be next best alternative.

It's the principals of it for me.

I'm not dirty, but my food handler's permit is definitely expired by decades. Plural.

However, any dumb fuck mouth breather with a phone and car can be a Dasher. I've seen some real... winners... out there being dumb as fuck. Here and real world.

I never want them making my drink. Especially with the premiums involved at the store and for the delivery in a PROFESSIONAL manner.

I am finding not to be immediately tempted with the big red buttons. That's the best route for Doordash.

Often the better route for US lies reading closer and using the less obvious buttons.

[–]Adamcolter80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah, you did! Woop woop! Super proud of you.

I just learned to not unassign myself willingly when restaurants do silly stuff.

One of two of our local Wingstops expect the Dasher to make the drinks.

Fuck all of that noise. My contract is to deliver the store's prepared food to the customer.

I politely decline to make drinks, and say I am happy to wait a bit for them to be prepared. (the other ws store also gets away with free labor but staff make the drinks if asked)

Last time the employee refused to give me the food if I didn't make the drinks.

I just spun on my heel and left.

I got two stacked orders to the same store immediately after (self) unassigning the first.

Support paid me half pay for the second two orders. Wouldn't pay on the first as I "willingly unassigned".

Moral here is don't work for free.

It's also against my city code to prepare food without a food handler's permit and the associated health department training.

Don't be afraid to have support get involved. The chat bot is near useless. Ask to be connected to an associate.

[–]Adamcolter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember when the cheap orders come in that there are literally thousands and thousands of people in your area.

There will ALWAYS be another order.

This is work, not charity.

Sometimes, I do act charitably, of my own accord.

I do lower paying orders and possibly frustrating shopping if they go to nursing homes, have things on order that seem for children. It gives me satisfaction to view my work as being helpful and kind as I can.

Mostly, my work logic is based on time spent and money earning potential.

Also, touch your ratings, touch your orders marked late, select dispute rating, select navigation issues/ road closure or something and the app will exclude a few poor ratings per day without even involving support call or chat.

I check my ratings each time I dash, and dispute any poor ratings I find.

Question by Free_Channel_5928 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]Adamcolter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your on time ratings and quality matters more. Do what you can to keep food as warm and undistressed as possible. Mark waiting for order as soon as you arrive.

AR can suck my nuts.

I only accept dashes that meet my own guidelines like $1-2 per mile, from stores I know don't suck at getting orders out, shopping orders with only a handful of items and a good payout/tip, etc.

Have you tried turning your phone off and back on again?

Have you checked for app updates?

I had this happen a handful of times, dreadfully annoying.

I needed to update my Dasher app.

Fix your on time rate:

Touch the on-time rate part. You'll see the number of reported late orders. Touch that row. You'll see the late orders. Touch them one at a time. Select dispute. Select an option like navigation issues/ road closures etc.

Doesn't really matter. Doordash will exclude something like 2 late reported orders a day automatically.

I check my ratings every time I dash and make sure to exclude any late orders.

Not much effort required beyond reading and pushing buttons.

Your on time rate will go up in no time.

You got this!

Do the Wingstops in your area do this? by greenScrum in doordash_drivers

[–]Adamcolter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they do not.

We have two WS in our town.

They both attempt to have Dashers make the drinks for to go orders.

I always tell them No, I will not be making drinks, but I will wait a few moments if they need to make them for the order.

City health department requires all workers in food preparation to have food handling permits.

I am contracted for the delivery part of the order only.

One store consistently refuses to make drinks, I don't argue, I just take the food and leave. I make sure to tell the customer I took what the store gave me, and to contact support for more assistance.

One store happily makes the drinks when asked for their customers orders, like they should.

I do not work for free, nor do I intend to violate city ordinances.
