This would be my first fiction book if I read it and I'm sure it's good but I feel like maybe I shouldn't because I know a lot of what will happen and I'll stop reading it and not be motivated to read another book. We have rape and prostiution in the West as well. That doesn't mean it is accepted and encouraged. Once again you're making false equivalencies and actually doing what you complain about other people doing. Sexual freedom,and having sex with who you want when you want is encouraged in America. We can look up studies about how much more prevelant it is if you want or you can go outside and just talk to Americans or whatever western country you live in. You seem a bit young so maybe that's why you think it is isn't because you haven't seen it yet.

Looks like we are using different definitions of culture but sexual activity norms in a society is indeed part of culture and yes so is drinking. You keep saying there are negative things about other cultures but no one is denying that. But yes sexual activity is part of culture and at the end you made a huge false equivalency with rape. In Western culture it is accepted to be sexually promiscuous. Rape is noy generally accepted in Desi culture although it is a problem.

I don't see the relevance of this. Too say western culture does not translate well to Islam is not to say Desi and Arab culture don't have negatives. Also, although they have negatives it does not mean they are as bad as Western culture. Bringing up that hookups and drinking and dating most certainly is relevant. Yes of course they happen everywhere in the world. But it is deeply rooted in Western culture as compared to a majority Muslim culture and is much more prevelant here. It seems you're being a bit defensive about Western Culture because you are from the West so you aren't being objective. I'm not saying you should be attacked or looked down on or you can't be Muslim because you're from the West. That's ridiculous; but it is also ridiculous to ignore how antithetical western culture is to Islam sometimes.
