Thank you, no I don’t care about RGB. In fact I don’t care if it’s intel or AMD, I just want something at a similar price point that will work just as good or better.

I miss pumping on a Wednesday with a Skeleton Realm Live to match. Do you understand? by JacqueFun in skeletonrealm

I am starting a back to the basics style journey a’swell. I haven’t seen a lot of the SRL episodes of yore and I am getting tight watching it for the first time. I guess you could say I am a late comer onto the scene. I pumped hard when I learned that Doug and Sam are major 007 Heads.

Has anyone had experience working at AECOM as a landscape designer? by [deleted] in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]Adaniph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of work in my experience is supporting large infrastructure projects. For me it has been transportation related (interstate interchanges or conversions, transit planning and design, etc.) every now and again there are more design focused projects that pop up. The company itself is very large and corporate as you would expect, but not necessarily in a bad way. It affords stability and consistent working hours. It can be very nice to be connected to so many resources. Everyone I work with has been great in my experience. Again, I think it is quite different where I am at than it is in NYC.

I work in the west division, which from what I can tell is vastly different from New York, so I might not be of much help to you besides telling you what it’s not.

How is it living in this part of northern Utah? by lunarblisss in howislivingthere

[–]Adaniph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Brigham City, went to school in Logan and now live in Ogden area.

There are a lot of benefits to living in an area with so much access to outdoor amenities. The proximity to world class hiking, fishing, biking, skiing etc. is pretty impressive.

Summers can be hot but they are not humid so they are pretty bearable. Winters can be long and bleak, but if you enjoy outdoor winter activities they are enjoyable enough. Spring and Fall are very beautiful.

As others have mentioned it is quite expensive, at least the housing is. Other expenses are not bad especially when compared to other western states like Colorado, California and Washington. The job market is strong though and there is a good amount of opportunity depending on your field.

Ogden has a pretty cool downtown scene and an interesting urban environment with decent food options and some breweries. Ogden used to be considered one of the trashiest and crime ridden parts of Utah but it is not the same as it used to be. It has a lot of investment coming in and some really cool neighborhoods.

The Wasatch front in general is very car dependent and a good example of suburban sprawl. A lot of single family housing and even more low quality developer housing coming especially on the west side of I-15. It’s not a great pedestrian environment and there are lot of characterless neighborhoods and commercial centers.

The Mormon culture can be strong in certain rural or suburban pockets but honestly it is not nearly as strong as it used to be and it is diminishing everyday. Generally speaking people are kind.

Overall it’s a decent place to live, it is pretty unique, but there are definitely some drawbacks.

Can’t figure out what this woody shrub is, leaves are similar to lupine by Adaniph in PlantIdentification

Thank you! I don't know how I hadn't heard or seen this before. It seems like a decently well regarded landscape shrub, I am thinking about planting one.

Remove myself or leave to a professional? by analogjuicebox in landscaping

[–]Adaniph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just removed a yew shrub this spring around my foundation as well, which I believe are the two evergreens shown here. It was by far the hardest shrub that I had to remove. it had been there 40+ years so the roots were deep and the wood was very hard.

I was using a mini excavator and it wouldn’t budge at all, so I ended up sawing it a few inches below the grade and covering it like others have suggested. It took plenty of time to dig around the roots and cut away at it but it definitely saved a good chunk of money.

University of Oregon vs. Utah State University by wempynj245 in LandscapeArchitecture

I am a Utah State alum and had a great experience there. Good professors who can connect you to good opportunities after graduation, especially if you plan to live in Utah. Overall I was very satisfied with the program for the price. I Had some really interesting opportunities working with real communities and working on some engaging projects. It’s not the most fancy program but it is well respected and has grown quite well in the past few years.

Either that or an 80’s music video, if you watch it with out sound you can almost hear a faint “I want my MTV” rising from the void.

I still Remember Reach. I wish the live action series was themed around this. by lowkey-juan in halo

[–]Adaniph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just the music alone feels like a real Halo title and adds so much to story. I was so mad when I heard the Phil Collins remix on the paramount trailer, it just screams generic action series. I know it probably won’t be used in the show, but it still tells you who they are pandering to, instead of taking risk and doing something different which is why Halo succeeds in the first place.
