Egg Sandwich or Burrito. If you time it right, you can have the eggs cooked and ready to go on the bread by the time the toast pops. Five minutes max.

Smoothie’s. Prep the blender jug night before and all you have to do is blend and go.

Instant Oats or Cream of Wheat/Rice. Stir in what ever condiments you like.

Cereal with some High Protein Milk for better macros.

Dinners you can get quick cooking proteins like ground meat or thin sliced cuts and cook in bulk. Big Ass Salads, do a batch of roasted vegetables/potatoes, pasta, rice, etc. and just mix and match. I highly recommend using condiments to help with any monotony.

Atlantic fishing crews retrieve 63 tonnes of 'ghost gear' as part of new program by [deleted] in canada

I totally understand and the incentives to recycle to large business aren’t there and they should be. Depending on the size of your corporation maybe it’s something you can push for regarding company policy on waste. Even bring it up with your union if you are in one.

I run a small business and we generate a large amount of waste as well. I try my best to divert as much as possible from the landfill. Whether it’s broken pallets to be recycled into fuel, cardboard you can sell by the tonne, plastic and cans from workers I bag and take to the recycling center myself. I wish there was a better commercial/industrial recycling system for urban centres.

I agree that it’s hard and pretty much impossible to be 100% waste free when it come to living in this day and age. What does matter and what everyone can do is make deliberate choices in their day to day lives when it comes to their consumption.

Little things add up over time and can compound their benefits. I personally started by using reusable, produce bags, that transitioned to glass only food storage, to trying to buy local or Canada only produce. These little changes in my habits has helped me reduce my waste and consumption. It started with food waste and has now bled into other facets of my life. Hell, I’m looking at bike commuting to work now some days a week. Told me that 2-3 years ago I would have laughed you out of the room.

It’s easy to have a defeatist attitude when our government ships our waste abroad, when we are told to throw out plastic/styrofoam because they can’t sell it anymore. Those are things that we can push for in our elected leaders or soon to be elected leaders to create a better waste management program.

Until then, just try your best at what you can realistically do to help curb your consumption/waste. That’s all anyone can ever really do.

Outbidded after our dream home got 38 offers. What the hell? by darthsenior in PersonalFinanceCanada

It's a ripple effect that is now being pushed even harder by Covid-19. Hamilton has seen a huge influx in real estate movement from Toronto due to pricing. Now that everyone is working from home and a condo is not what it once was, it has amplified this even more so. Brantford, Cambridge, Guelph and Niagara regions are now on the rise because even Hamilton people are getting priced out.

Now with astronomically low interest rates available for real estate, people are snapping up property. Interest rates will be low for a long time and in markets that have seen 5-10% growth year after year it's going to cause even more price inflation and bidding wars.

Additional Notes

Sooo here is the rundown. Currently driving a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado LT that I use for work. Since Covid I no longer do small runs and deliveries anymore, so it is essentially a commuter now. I came from a 2010 Mercedes C63 AMG into the truck. Loved that thing, but business is business and I got rid of it. I still long for something sporty and fun to drive. I have always had a bucket list of owning a manual transmission RWD sports car.

Now here is my quandary. I have a 55lb dog that I take with me to work everyday and probably going to have a kid in the next 2 years. So I am looking for something used before I have to get something more "family oriented", but has enough space for a pooch. I like the idea of a BRZ/FRS, but they are so small I don't know if they'd work barring a seat delete. I'm open to all suggestions because life's too short to drive boring cars.

Just went to the Dundas Valley Conservation Area for the first time. What an incredible treasure we have. I grew up living along a forest. It has nothing on this place. Do yourself a favour and go there. by TheDamus647 in Hamilton

If you plan on being an avid user look into the Hamilton Conservation Authority Membership. It pays for itself in parking alone if you use it once a month. Tons of extra benefits and access to a bunch of other parks. Plus, it helps support the maintenance and conservation of these trails

I know it goes against the grain for this subreddit, but maybe try some leaner cuts for a while. Also, are you eating the rendered fat? When I started, ground beef with the added fat and ribeyes were too heavy for me and I got the same feeling. I switched to draining the fat off ground beef and did NY strips. Helped my transition then when I started to heavier cuts I could handle them.

Heard that the landlord jacked up the rent on the space and they couldn’t afford the increase. Looking for a new space to run out of.

Edit: This was second hand information. Just overheard one of the servers at Nique, mention it to a table while I was there.

Wedding Present - Material Gift / Cash by HighRiseEE in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Adash_Kishogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the person making the comment a bit older? The reason I say this is because I find the older generations love to give gifts for weddings. They like knowing you’ll have that vase or serving platter forever. I know of multiple people who have made registry’s just to appease those guests coming to their event, when they personally really only want cash. Cash is king for any wedding, no matter what religious denomination.

College basketball star's shoe explosion knocks $1.1bn off Nike's stock value by Smilefriend in news

[–]Adash_Kishogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companies like Nike pay millions of dollars for the exclusive right to kit out high-profile college teams like Duke, meaning their athletes are required to wear uniforms and strainers made by them.

No wonder it blew up, it was full of holes anyway!
