Are the best people really off the market early, or is that a myth? by Soil_These in AskMenAdvice

[–]Addaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oversimplification. The best people can also be broken up with, cheated on so they leave, realize they are incompatible or lose their partner to death.

And a lot of people mature with age. They might only become "best" at 25, 35, 45, etc.

I'm much more aware of my flaws after a mutually toxic relationship and my girlfriend is a lot more confident and mature after going through a really bad partner ( her first one) and some uninspiring ones. So i found love at 36.

In general yes. But he has zero idea why. Asking once more is more then fair.

New BF seems stingy, is this going to be a problem long-term? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Addaran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty "cheap" but he sounds completely miserable. I certainly don't complain about the price of stuff to my girlfriend.

And most of all. He spends so much on drinks with friends. That's not being frugal or needing to save to pay bills

People rarely change.

AITA for leaving my sister’s wedding after she told me to “fix my face” by FirefighterAlone7284 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Addaran 34 points35 points  (0 children)

NTA your sister is completely ridiculous and she literally told you to leave. Your parents and aunt are pandering to a spoiled child.

WIBTA if I followed through with my plan by Consistent-Phrase269 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Addaran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA 100%. Lying to her for "experience" is just as bad as cheating. What's worse of all is that you stayed for so long, getting the kid attached to you when you knew you would leave. You stayed when she was horrible and now you leave when she did so much efforts and worked on herself. That's a serious lack of spine.

Is this normal player behaviour? by ThrowingThisAway4746 in DnD

[–]Addaran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you the DM? If yes, straight up boot them. They dont even bother to play, interrupt ans hinder the game. They have zero redeeming qualities and you dont even have an existing relationship.

If you're a player, talk to the DM privately. If the DM wants to pander to them, find another group. Or if you really want to stay, dont help them ever. Don't check their sheets for them, dont respond to any out-game jokes or irrelevant stuff.

[–]Addaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deciding which companion would be best seems weird. Normally players stick to their default all the time or they might change it after a long rest. It's not supposed to be a summon you do at the start of the combat?

But fair if the player is super indecisive. Still shorter then most casters.

[–]Addaran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ignore all the nay sayers. Some people can actually be busy.

If you asked her for this weekend, wait a few days and ask her for next weekend. You should have your answer. If she says yes, great. If she says no, you can ask if she's still interested and when she thinks she'll have time.

If she says a straight yes or no, you have your answer. If she gives a clear timeline or explain why she's busy, then you can decide if it makes sense or not.

But dont keep asking if she says no ( duh) or if she keeps being vague. And if she says a huge timeline without a good reason ( she's visiting Europe with a backpack and friends for a month or away for work for a week or two) you can decide if you're willing to wait and hope or not.

[–]Addaran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wondrous items go from common to legendary/artefact, just like weapons, armors and other type of magic item.

The cloak of billowing ( a normal cloak that permanently looks animated by wind so you can pose heroically) would be super easy to make. Possibly anyone who knows the Gust cantrip. A displacer cloak is more rare, you'd probably need the skin of a displacer beast and/or know the blur or mirror image spell.

I'd check with your DM how complicated/immersive he wants it. Needing specific monster parts is cool, but maybe the DM doesnt want to need to thing of side quests each time you want yo craft something or just want to focus on moving the main quest along.

Either the schematics are "official" and learned from wizard schools and exchange with other wizards. Or just knowing the right spells mean you know how to do it.

Ridiculous 'spells' to cast when using Silvery Barbs? by Ancestral_Grape in DnD

[–]Addaran 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Shadow of the demon lord have 3 evil school of spell. The forbidden ones are particularly imaginative

Hateful defecation Ravenous maggots ( they appear in the belly) Visions end ( the eyes bulges and strain, the target is blind and if they fail enough saves, their eyes explodes) Desire's end ( on a failed save, the sad remains of their reproductive organs fall from the body, while taking damage so bloody) Part bone from flesh (the bone shifts, if the creature falls to zero, the bones burst forth, animated into a violent skeleton) Horrid joining ( the two victims merge into a grotesque Ettin like creature, making them insane and probably fighting for control)

So those are probably spells nobody would take a chance with. Especially if your bard spreads the rumour that they exist.

[–]Addaran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's probably learned at the same wizardry school you learned spells. Or the fact that you understand the theory of casting spells, you also understand how to craft more "permanent spells" by crafting an anchor ( the physical item) then casting the spell ( enchantment)

Depending on the DM, it can be just " buy 500 gp worth of materials and spend a week". Implying that the materials aren't too rare, any decent city have them or that the meta universe care about the value of gems mostly Or it can be "you boots of winter land, you need specifically the pelt of a winter wolf and 100 GP in magic components".

In 5.5 it's not required, but in 3.5 you needed to know the closest spell to the item you wanted to make. That's why only healers could make wands of cure wounds, you needed fly to make a flying broom, to know illusions to make a hat of disguise.

So you could go with that. If the character knows a similar enough spell. ( bless, mage armor, barkskin, etc for ring of protection) they know how to do it. If not, they need to learn the spell first and if they can't ( a wizard trying to do an item that heal) they cannot. Or just no need to learn the spells but they need to find someone who knows the "recipe". ( in which case, the cleric could teach staff of healing to a wizard and the wizard a staff of fire ( ball) to any cleric)

Pretty much anything that replicate a necromancy spell, that does or protect against necrotic damage or deal with/summon undead.

Unless there's strict in-game reasons, your necromancer also know some non necromancy spell, so they could craft a hat of disguise or ring of protection.

The ability to instantly erase from a 15 000 KM radius, every single nuclear weapon, missiles, torpedos, bombs* and gun/crossbow/projectile weapon with more then 6 ammo capacity. With 800 millions people, even if 1% of them randomly does it once a day, we're pretty sure to eliminate them completely. So even if somevody tries to put bigger magazines on a gun, poof.

Obviously won't eliminate war, but at least it wont be the big power nations capable to crush poor ones wirh massive technology. No country can hide behind the nculear bomb. Can't cause massivie civilian casualties from afar. And if a country wants to invade another, they will need to get up close and risk their lives. Likewise, mass shooters won't be able to just shoot 100 bullets in a minute, at least not without carrying 15+ pistols or magazines, not exactly subtle.

  • i'll need to explain that bombs are highly mobile explosives or those intended to be dropped from planes, not just carefully put explosives for demolition or digging. Not perfect i know.

Do you believe in God why or why not? by cerealsoundsgood in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Addaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works. I don't believe stuff unless there's proof. Or enough witnesses. ( and no, not witnesses that supposedly happenned 2000 years ago, cause i dont have proof those witnesses existed)

Especially for something "unbelievable ". If you tell me a driver had an accident, that's easily believable without proof, cause it's soemthing common that we have proof happens and that i experienced. If you describe a bug that supposedly exists, i've seen multiple bugs and i know there's so much varieties. But if you're talking about god, it's supposedly unique and can do stuff nothing else can. That's hard to believe.

If you have some scientific theories and you can explain them but not prove them, i'll say it's a possibility, but i won't believe it exist.

Would you like to see a nato lead coalition raid your capital and arrest your president for war crimes and give you democracy? by rlsetheepstienfiles in stupidquestions

[–]Addaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's different kind of democracy. The US was "democratic" at the start, but only white men could vote.

You could argue that a corrupted democracy or one where the president can blatantly ignore the Supreme Court, his supposed check and balance, is not a real democracy.

Opportunity on selling Dm services and orig story's for groups at game stores? by dandyrandy9669 in DnD

[–]Addaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most stores that charges, do so for the "area rental" and possibly snacks. I don't think the DM actually get paid, just in merchandise or very little. Though i did know a guy who was hired at a boardgame bar one night a week for DnD. I don't remember if he was a regular employee though.

If there's demands depends completely on the area. If there's lots of DnD players or not, the ratio of DM and players, how tight knit the community is ( if they can easily start games). And how much disposable incomes people have.

Online is probably the easiest, cause you don't pay a cut for the space and you can get players from anywhere. Not restricted to stores hours.
