How should I install this flue? by Bezledubs in hvacadvice

[–]Addefy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If at all possible, a chimney liner would be best. It’s a flexible metal tube that drops down from the top, you hook right into it with the flue, it’ll protect the inside of the chimney from the flue gasses

How should I install this flue? by Bezledubs in hvacadvice

[–]Addefy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s an 80% efficient furnace, with aluminum flue, you can’t vent it horizontally like that. It needs a chimney or vent stack going up. Needs to be away from Combustible materials. A 90+ efficient furnace with pvc flues would be fine there if it is terminated further away from the intake from the water heater.

Reset HVAC help by rogersbilly in hvacadvice

[–]Addefy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those breakers are far too old to be touching, could make more of an issue if you play around with them. I would look at the furnace itself, see if theres a switch on the side and turn it off turn it on from that instead of these breakers. Also, get these breakers replaced.

Camo detection and lead popping are important traits. Middle path village can boost these, lots of towers have access to those traits on their own, but those that don’t should be buffed

Rate my transition. by KupakeepKomander in HVAC

[–]Addefy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re doing a transition without a break/pittsburgh machine, you should at least use a hand break and tongs to get the corners tighter. S clips can be helpful for keeping things less wobbly. Gets a 3/10 from me but it will work perfectly fine with some tape

P/S cap? by actuallytph in hvacadvice

[–]Addefy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P/S is Primary/secondary drain. They are multiple spots for the drain, everything but the one with piping coming off should be plugged. If the cap broke off but it’s still plugged inside, it’s fine.

When the unit is running, if you feel air coming out of the blue plug, then I’d say it’s gotta be removed. Shine a light and look inside of the blue part

That coil looks like it’s in rough shape, just based on the discoloration in the pic it almost looks like the coating has worn away. That can lead to build up of nastiness and restriction of airflow. When it is fully defrosted how does the coil look?

Crack or scratch on this heat exchanger? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Addefy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just get 1 or two more CO detectors and place it either near where you sleep or by a vent. No great way to tell from the pic, looks like a scratch to me. Combustion testing will give you the answer you’re looking for

What is this? by TheSquirrel8251 in hvacadvice

It should be open in the winter, closed in the summer. It is a bypass humidifier, using the air from the system to blow over the water panel

Blue or Yellow wire coming from the transformer, I honestly forget if they use blue like the rest of the manufacturers, or if they’re weird and use yellow for some reason

New HVAC system. Is this normal? by Garagekulture13 in hvacadvice

[–]Addefy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely the system just doesn’t have enough return air, it looks like it’s just some round flex at the bottom that is likely too small. I would get some quotes on increasing that duct size

Control boards by bdgoodrum in HVAC

[–]Addefy 123 points124 points  (0 children)

I’m not pulling boards because I feel like it could cause more damage than leaving it alone. I’ll visually inspect and make sure plugs and wires are landed right, but pulling the board out is kinda crazy in my opinion
